My Versa Lite has been losing about 2 minutes an hour for a couple of months. Had previously worked just fine and worked fine when my husband used it (but rarely would sync it) for 8 months before he gave it to me. I force sync it many times daily to get it to catch up which is stupid. (When I woke up this mornining it was 20 minutes behind.) I bought a cheap replacement (not a fitbit) on Black Friday because I was so frustrated but the features are not as robust. So today I finally called customer support. Good thing because TODAY is the end of my warranty. Their response heavily emphasized the fact that my phone, (Blu Vivo 😎 is not on the compatible list. I already knew that and have my share of sync issues but my question was, why should this matter? I mean is this not a watch that can keep time without needing to sync or not sync with a phone? Like what if I was running a marathon (never going to happen but stay with me) and I didn't carry my phone? Or kept bluetooth off to preserve the battery? How can this device NOT act as a watch for anyone trying to track their activity? Answer: No fitbit device keeps proper time without sync to a phone. Huh? Put that on the packaging. True story. I saved the conversation. But anyway, these are the steps I was told to use to fix the clock issue. And I did it and as of tonight, it seems to be working but there is not enough time between today - the end of my warranty at midnight to really know if this is a fix. But really... why? Why can't this device just keep it's own time? How hard is that? Anyway, here are the steps. Hope it is helpful to the community:

Fitbit losing time resolution steps:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab  > your profile picture > Advanced Settings.
  2. Turn off the Automatic time zone option.
  3. Tap Select time zone and select the correct time zone.
  4. Force stop the Fitbit app on your phone: (settings > Apps > Fitbit > tap force stop)
  5. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  6. Restart the Fitbit (press and hold the button on your tracker for 10 seconds. Release the button.)
  7. When you see a smile icon or Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  8. Power down and restart your phone.
  9. Remove your Fitbit in the Bluetooth settings: (Go to Bluetooth settings > press the gear icon > unpair the device.)
  10. Open the Fitbit app on your phone and tap the profile icon at the top left corner.
  11. Tap "setup the device" and choose the Fitbit device name that you will set up.
  12. Click "replace your Fitbit _____ device". Phone will search for the device. May take a few minutes.

I hope it works out for you. After my third Versa within a year with
syncing problems, I gave up and bought Apple Watch 5. It works great all
the time.
Good luck!

I'm a dinosaur and already having issues with being classified by Fitbit as a "jogger". Don't label me. I had to reveal stuff in this forum in order to post. What is a jogger? Until a few months ago I didn't run more than a mile in my entire life right? (I'm 59). So I'm unhappy with all of this. Mostly I wanted a watch that would give me the correct time. And because I was sort of toying with the idea of running I decided that I could run and exercise... it would track it. But go figure. I ran. And my marathon husband gave me this watch that he bought for himself. And 1 mile became 2 and became 3 became 7. And so on. NONE of that was about what time is it. WHAT TIME IS IT? Like I really just wanted a watch to tell me that. Meanwhile Fitbit. REALLY??? I have to sync my phone which until recently I didn't even have a pocket for... for you to not lose 2 minutes an hour? And I called customer service today and they told me that NO Fitbit device keeps time without being linked to a phone. Yeah that. So do better and contact me if you don't believe me. Because I saved the conversation. And if this is true... PUT IT ON THE BOX.

Thanks to everyone that suggested a new watch. Apple watch etc. But that is really not the answer to my problem. It's not about switching an under $100 watch to a much more expensive watch to get to basic and promised functiionality of a Versa Lite. So I'm still stuck. I just want this watch to give me the correct time and also to count my steps. I'm fairly sure other that bought it will care about other stuff. I'm just there. Basic stuff that should no be too much to ask for but at the moment...it seems like it is.

Exactly that’s why we gave up. Three watches down I couldn’t do it again. Constant resets etc

This is exactly what Fitbit told me told me it wasn’t compatible with my iPhone 6. I didn’t give up and in the end I got a replacement Fitbit just the Fitbit without a strap and has been working perfectly, and guess what still using my iPhone 6. You must insist on a replacement as your Fitbit has become faulty. I do hope you have success and would be interested in the outcome.

Update. I purposefully left bluetooth off last night to test the watch's ability to keep time without needing to sync to my phone. By morning, it had lost 22 minutes of time. This device is useless as a standalone watch. Meanwhile the $29 Yamay smart watch that I bought on Black Friday, kept perfect time all night long without a sync. Fitbit should not call these devices "watches" if they cannot keep their own accurate time.

I’m a bit late to this party, but I too am having exactly the same issues.

almost a year after purchase (convenient I know), my watch is losing time.

at first it was 5 or 10 minutes out, and a sync fixed it, but then I noticed every hour it was losing a minute or two, and the sync didn’t work ... ‘couldn’t sync your Versa’

i read these forum posts, and followed the instructions of doing a full re install - it took ages, and I was hopeful that would fix it. An hour later, and it had already lost 4 minutes.

I am ‘just’ within warranty, so am considering taking it back (I’ve lost faith) - what do you think?

Take it back ASAP- it can’t be fixed. I’m glad I returned mine.

Hi, the problem I am having are just like the one you have described. This started a few days ago and I have tried everything suggested, it hasn't worked. I have already lost 10mins since it last syncd this afternoon. I have trouble getting it to syn when it's 20min behind. Any suggestions?

If your Fitbit is still under a year old get in touch with Fitbit and insist on a replacement. There is nothing you can do to fix it yourself. Good luck

Twice I got Fitbit to replace the versa as defective. You really have to
argue with them though. Anyway, both replacements had the same issue. I
finally just gave up and bought a Garmin. It is great, no problems at all,
does everything including weather. Good luck
