I have read a bunch of responses about the Versa not being compatible yet with the S10....seems weird to me but hey what do I know. Anyways I can get the Versa to sync but my notifications will only come to the watch for about an hour or so after restarting and re-syncing then they stop again. I always check the settings after a restart/re-sync to be sure notifications are on and unchanged. Anyone else with the issue found a fix?
Thanks

More on this, I shared my findings with the Fitbit app support for Android and they are aware of the issue with the Samsung Message app not working with the Fitbit. They are working on a solution. For now, the Verizon Message app is sending notifications of my texts to my fitbit! 🙂

I tried a couple different texting apps and the Textra app worked! I'm getting text notifications with this app!

I have a Tmobile Galaxy S10+. After the January Samsung security update, I was no longer receiving text messages on my Versa 2. I received other notifications just fine. I switched from the Samsung Messages app to the Google Messages app (making sure to set it as the default messaging app in Fitbit notifications as well). Since then, I have been receiving text messages on my Versa 2 just fine. It seems there is some incompatibility between the Samsung update, the Samsung Messages app and the Fitbit app. Hopefully Samsung and Fitbit can figure it out.

I bought my Versa 2 in December 2019 and spent the first 3 weeks frustrated and ready to bring it back. The notifications were so intermittent. The Google messenger app works and I get my phone calls, BUT I want my android messenger to work because now my car won't read my texts because it's not meant to be compatible with Google. FITBIT FIX THIS ISSUE! I have a Samsung S10+ this isn't some off brand that causes trouble Check the code in the firmware and figure out the difference between the 2!

I was not receiving text notifications at all. S10, Versa 2. Whatsapp, calls fine. On your phone go to text message settings and turn off the previewing of messages. No content on the watch, but at least notifications for incoming txt. I hope your fitbit app has the last up update, though is useless. No other set up worked for me, lockscreen, message priority or whatever, wasted hours.

Same here. I called customer support and all they said was, "it's a known issue." But nothing about when it would be fixed etc.

Scroll farther down just for the Fix.
This message will be a multiple part. First is background and information, secondly will be the issue and troubleshooting I have done, and third will be the possible resolution(s).
Background and Information:
Ok, so I'll go ahead and post what I did to fix my issue. I was having the issue where I could not get my text message notifications on my Fitbit Versa 2.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S10+ || Operating System: Android Version 10
One UI Version: 2.0
Fitbit: Versa 2 || Firmware Version: 35.70.714
Issue and Troubleshooting:
Issue:
Text Messages are not coming through on my Fitbit Versa 2 using Android device.
Troubleshooting:
- Removed Fitbit Versa 2 from devices and re-added. (Issue still present)
- Tried uninstalling Fitbit app and reinstalling. (Issue still present)
- Went into Settings > Notifications > under each category under "In-app notications", turned on "Preview new messages" (Issue still present)
- Removed Fitbit Versa 2 from Bluetooth devices under bluetooth settings. Went to fitbit app > Account > Devices (Versa 2) > Notifications > Re-paired with Versa. (Issue still present)
- Tried downloading Google messages and setting it as my main messaging app. (Issue still present)
- Tried turning off messages, and turning on notifications for messages under "App Notifications". Still unable to receive text messages. (Issue still present)
- Tried making another app such as Google Messages or Facebook Messenger my default app and the "Messages" app (Built in the phone from Samsung) as a secondary app, and tried turning it on under "App Notifications" (Issue still present)
- Tried pairing to a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ from different friends but still logged in as myself under the fitbit app. (Issue still present)
- Tried resetting the syncing service. (Issue still present)
- Updated or tried to update all the Android components. Profile, PRL, Android OS. All up to date. (Issue still present)
All of these attempts were failures as none of them resulted in my being able to receive text messages.
Resolutions and possible solutions:
On the fitbit app home page, you should be able to see "Today Items" (Things such as Exercise, Food, Weight, hours slept, HR, etc.). IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN FOUR ITEMS ON THIS LIST, IT WILL CAUSE YOU NOT TO GET TEXT MESSAGES.
I have tested this and this is how I got my Text messages to start appearing on my Fitbit Versa 2. Here is how you can fix it.
Open the "Fitbit" app (Android users) > Top right, click "Edit" > Under the section labeled "Manage Today Items", Remove the categories until you only have 4 (Activity cannot be removed and doesn't affect this count). This worked for me and hopefully this works for other Android users.
Side Note:
I did not originally find this fix but this is what I found to work.... I just put it in much greater detail.
Also, I originally had 7 out of 9 items for my "Today items" on my Fitbit Home page on the app. I removed them one by one until I get to the default 4 (as if you just got fitbit for the first time). After I removed them one by one, I sent a test text message from another phone (I have a separate work phone) and none of them worked until I got the "Today Items" down to 4. It started working and I started getting my Text messages then. I have been re-adding the items to "Today items" and it still works. This all started after a Fitbit update, not an Android update. This is on Fitbit to fix as whatever they did when they updated the app, caused it to stop working.
