Every time I try to reply to a text message using voice reply it tells me theres a transcription error and won't send. I've tried speaking slowly, clearly, close to the microphone, far away from it.. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it just isn't working properly??
I just tested something and it seems like it only works when you connect the Fitbit to a WiFi from in the Fitbit app (and then sync afterwards)
At least for me
EDIT:
just restarted both my watch and my phone, synced it from the app, and then it worked without WiFi connection
DOUBLE EDIT:
On Android, I gave the Fitbit app permission to always run in the background, and so far I haven't had any issues with transcription, both wifi and LTE work fine
Settings -> search Fitbit -> battery usage -> battery optimization -> Fitbit -> select "don't optimize"
On a oneplus 6T btw
Make sure within your cell phone settings that Fitbit is allowed to run in the background. Changed that setting and it started working again.
The issue, to be clear:
1. When trying to reply to a notification using Alexa we get a "transcription" error.
The root, in my testing has been:
1. The notification is cleared in the phone, before the Alexa reply is complete.
So if, for example, your phone is not locked and the screen is on and a message comes in you will not be able to reply to the notification. The reason is that, as in mentioned in other community posts, the versa will only keep notifications until they are cleared on the phone. The OS (Operating System controlling the phone) may automatically consider the notification as cleared if the phone is unlocked and with the screen on. This will happen even if you do not take an action on the phone to clear the message.
When Alexa/Fitbit attempt the reply the notification is "gone" and we receive the "transcription" error. I believe this is a bug, and will likely be fixed in a future update.
On android they may be cleared in the lock screen as well:

To test this, you can lock your phone and have someone send you a message. If you unlock the phone first you will likely see the error.
Anyhow, that is the behavior I noticed so far. Hope this helps the next person...
I had to reconnect the wifi connection and it started working again, but don't know for how long though...
Best AnswerSame, Note 8. Customer service to me to come here and search on my own. Sure glad I bought the device from them. NOT!
I haven't been able to have my voice to text working for 2 months now. Tried all the troubleshooting, it's very unfortunate that @Fitbit can't back up their own product and has their users to search themselves. Guess I won't be calling support.
This is my second product from them and the reason I got the watch, was the have the voice text as my job limits my ability to reply to messages all the time.
when I purchased this watch, it was compatible with my device... But now that everyone has issues.. Its magically not compatible. I do my research and would have just gotten a fricken galaxy watch if it wasn't compatible. Piece of sh*t
I received the same from them. Sorry that you're having this issue along with hundreds of others. I guess that hundreds don't matter.
I know this is an old thread but does that optimization change still work for you? I still have the same issue with optimization off.
