Watch loses time!

ANSWERED

My versa is effectively useless because I can't trust the time on it.  It seems if it doesn't auto sync, which happens multiple times on a daily basis, the watch loses time. It's as much as 20 minutes slower than my phone. It's caught me a few times now and I have been majorly late. I have to always check my phone for the time, so what's the point of the watch? It happens even if the watch is fully charged. This is turning out to be the most useless product that I have ever bought! The time doesn't work and I spend more time trying to fix the sync on a daily basis then should be necessary. Wish I had gotten another Garmin instead! Judging by all the other comments/ problems, there are a lot of people who would agree with me! I'm very disappointed.

Hello @Nothgiel and @SunsetRunner, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

@Nothgiel, I appreciate you have already tried  the troubleshooting steps provided earlier. Please note that after performing a factory reset on your Versa it is required to set it up again in your account, which explains why it's not syncing at the moment.

To set up your Versa:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account symbol at the top right corner of the screen, then tap on "Set up a New Device"
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue
  4. When the app asks you to replace your current tracker, please replace it and continue with the process.
  5. When a pop-up appears asking you to Pair your tracker to your device, tap on Pair and continue.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hi, I really understand that you're deeply disappointed by the Versa, but before throwing it away, I have one question regarding the time: are you using the default clock face or another one? Sometimes the used clock face is the problem and not the Versa itself.

UPDATE:

Which clock face are you using? The Versa's default one or some other?

Kindest regards kuzibri. If you find my post helpfull, a vote and/or marking it as a solution will be highly appreciated by me. Versa, Ionic, Blaze, Surge

I did just change the clock face, so maybe that is the problem. I have
changed it now, so I guess I will wait and see what happens! Thanks for the
suggestion.

Hello @Nothgiel, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you too @SunsetRunner, thanks for all your help. Smiley Happy

@Nothgiel, I appreciate you have taken the time to share your experience with us. Please note that as @SunsetRunner mentioned, please change the clock-face to a Fitbit clock-face and check if you're still having trouble with the clock not updating after syncing. If you notice is the specific clock-face you're using that's having trouble, you can go to Account > Versa > Clock Faces > the one you're using and contact the developer of that specific clock-face to let them know about this bug.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, please keep us updated!

Many thanks for your compliment: "Hello , have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. It's nice to see you too , thanks for all your help". It's a real pleasure for me to help people with problems of a certain device. I'm doing that already for more than 10 years for several models of Smartphones.

I did change the clock face to a fitbit one this morning and, after taking
25 minutes to get the fitbit to sync it finally change. That was about 2
hours ago and now it's 2 minutes slow compared to my phone because it
hasn't synced. Since I'm at work I dont have another 1/2 hour to play
around trying to get it to sync it. It would seem to me that the watch not
syncing is the problem. It is fully charged, so I dont understand why it
just won't keep time. It's pretty useless if I have to spend 30 minutes to
try to sync my watch just so it will keep time!

Hi, presumably the clock face is not the real problem, also looking at your other problems. Did you already perform a factory reset? See this link how to do it: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa/Versa-is-stuck/m-p/3107938#M60276.

I did the factory reset and now I have nothing displayed on the watch
except, the Fitbit logo and the message to install the app. I deleted the
app and reinstalled it. I will not sync! I'm not sure what to do now

I don't know how much more you can help me. I have done a factory reset, I
have a Fitbit watch face, I have reinstalled the App, restarted the phone,
etc. That was yesterday. Today I took a 3 hour flight and had to have my
phone on flight mode and by the time I got to my destination the versa was
2 hours and 18 minutes behind in time. Now that I have reconnected to
wifi, it won't sync again! What else can I do? It's become a nightmare.

Hi , maybe I'm going to to a strange proposition to you, but I would advice to change the clock face to: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/85944iE8F9E65E5A3B04DA/image-size/medium?v.... This is the minimal analog clock face. After that switch on your BT on your device and on the Versa to paired or on and try again the steps Marco adviced you to do. Maybe it's working. Good luck.

@Nothgiel, I appreciate you have come back and provided me more details about this situation. Please note that even if your Versa has connected to a WiFi network, it will still need to sync through Bluetooth. First of all, if your Versa is not syncing, restart it by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Then, toggle Bluetooth on your phone off/on and try to sync, if this doesn't work, force-quit the app, open it again and try to sync again.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

Hello Fitbit team,

week 2 with my Versa loosing time and ultimately connection with my trusty iPhone6...

I have tried the fixes suggested on various sites with temporary success at best.

My last resort, as suggested on the chat site has been to shut both phone and tracker down and reboot.. no luck.

Desperately seeking any help you might be able to give?

I called Fitbit and they sent me a new watch because it was on warranty. I
kept the original watch face and all defaults on the watch, but it started
doing the same thing at the end of May...wouldn't keep time and wouldn't
sync, heartbeat was 174 or just recorded as --! I wasn't sure if I was
having a heart attack or was already dead! I phoned again as none of the
suggested solutions worked and they replaced it in June. I've had this one
for less than a month and so far so good, but I'm not confident that it
will last. My warranty is up July 5th so I probably won't get another
replacement from Fitbit if this one goes south. Fitbit told me it was the
new iOS update that was causing the problems however, I hadn't updated my
phone when it started to lose time and days (my watch was 2 days in the
past). It's so frustrating to pay so much for something that doesn't really
work well. I think there is something very wrong with their software! I
can't say I recommend this product after going through 2 watches already.
Hopefully this 3rd watch will work for longer than 6 months.

I have the same problem regarding watch losing time, and I've employed this "fix" SEVERAL times.  Watch continues to lose time, and takes FOREVER to synch.

It's mind boggling that a fully charged "watch" doesn't keep time!
Frustrating. I've had 3 replacements and they all start off fine and then
have this problem. The first lasted 6 months, the second 3 months and the
3rd 1 month before each started losing time. I have a forth replacement,
but haven't opened the box yet. I've contemplated selling it, but would
feel guilty selling potential problems to someone, so it sits, unopened....

thank you so much! Changing the clock face fixed the issue! I had been using the bitmojk and after about a month my watch wouldnt keep up with the time..I had to reset it everytime and would hardly wear it because it was so annoying. Changing the clock face fixed the issue!

My Fitbit inspire doesn’t keep time when away from the phone or not continually synced. All of these “fixes” shouldn’t be necessary. Why can’t Fitbit make a device that keeps proper time on its own? This device is basically useless as a timepiece and marginally trustworthy in all other functions.
