step count going backwards

Came home from gym with 12,000+ steps and then did 11 minutes on treadmill and should have had at least 13,000. Watch only showed 6000+ and app showed 10,000. I went into the log on the web site and tried adding some activity (which has worked in the past) and now the web site shows 7000 and so does my watch. What the hell?? Restarted phone and watch several times. Nothing changes.

Hi @SunsetRunner - you probably have your phone connected as a device.

In the Fitbit App device page remove the phone as a connected device and you should get consistent results from then on.
