why does GPS within app measure differently?

my wife and I both have Fitbits. Hers is currently broken, but she uses the app to monitor her when she's out running. yesterday we went for a run together and I started the run from my fitbit, her from the app. by the end hers said she had done 5.25km, and mine had just done 5km.

both apps had drawn the same route (albeit hers was a bit more 'wobbly' but not that much).

we have the same iPhone, same network provider, and I think all the settings are the same, so why would the run distance be different?

@bobbyBr Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your GPS distance discrepancy. Not sure why this is happening but note that you are using your tracker alongside your phone's GPS chip. I suggest you clear the link between your phone and your tracker by doing the following:

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Let me know how it goes.
