Add Water via Device/Fitbit on Wrist

Like with the exercise option, have a water item in the menu on your Fitbit. For example: the option 250ml, a tap to increase to 500ml, 1l etc. then press and hold the button to add. It would make it a lot quicker to add the amount one drinks.

I just realized there is no way to add a water log from the versa. I think that feature will be very convenient. Thanks!

PLEASE let us track water via the Versa!!

This has been addressed by the third party apps Water Logged and Hydrate. Water logged won first place in the health category

Awesome app, and I love the new period tracker addition, but please please PLEASE can you add a hydration alert feature for the watch and a way to log water intake on the watch? I’d love to have reminders to drink water, just like there’s reminders to get up and be active. And, even if there was just having a section for hydration and pressing the button to add one bottle of water, that would be amazing.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your patience. I just released a new update to my app Ionic Water for the Fitbit Versa and Ionic smartwatches. This is a very important update so that the logs will be saved on the device and upload to Fitbit when a good connection is available after the app is opened. I have been testing for a while and it appears to work for now. But I will need you guys to test it out too. Let me know how it goes by contacting me through Fitbit's contact developer feature. Thank you.

I have still not seen where any of the water loggers can log water without your phone.

I cant have my phone at work so it would be nice if I could just tap and add xoz of water consumed and then it syncs later when it connects to my phone.

This is been a while so maybe I just missed it..

Has anyone seen an app that does logging without the phone connected?

@SunsetRunner you probably will not. unless @BrianEnders update is able to send the logged water through a sync. Even then it will require a computer or phone to sync through. The saved eater log will be transferred during the next sync of the tracker.

The alternative, no phone needed would be to send the logged water directly to Fitbit through WiFi. but WiFi only gets turned on while the tracker is being charged. Do you want to have to take the tracker off your arm to send the logged water to Fitbit?

I'm not saying the idea is wrong or bad, imI'simply pointing out the logistics of the request.

I know that developers feel they have addressed this issue with third party apps, but that doesn’t address this function on the Blaze. We should be able to swipe to a water tile, tap to add oz water, save, just like the water tile in the app, except on our wrist. Then the info will sync to the app. We should be able to see progress toward our water goal under the Today tile on our wrist. Not everyone is allowed to access their phones at all times in order to use the app to add water.

Community Legend,

I understand the logistics quite well.. That does not change the fact that the  ability
for 3rd party apps like water logging, need to be
able to save data disconnected and do batch synchs.
Yes, it would need to be done similar to how step data is handled. This means they will need to address data storage on the ionic.
  Fitbit is

going to have to figure
  out

the logistics if they want the  3rd party apps to succeed especially for the ionic since not needing your phone is a touted feature.
 With more and
more places of work becoming security aware, you will see fewer places, esp. military, able to bring their phone into work.
I can guarantee you Apple is working on this for the iWatch.
As for me, the ionic is no better than the Blaze because I am one of the people who cannot bring my phone into work and bought the ionic
specifically for the off-line features.
When it says you can play music without your phone most people also, assume that other apps will have the
same capability.  So as of right now, the ionic is a bit of a disappointment.

I love my versa, but would really like to track my water consumption on it, not via phone or site. It seems a pretty simple thing to me, along with reminders to drink like reminders to step? I bought the versa specifically so I don't have to use my phone at work, and this would make it simple, quick and easy.

Please make it possible to log water consumption on the watch, not just the app. Thank you

I am echoing everyone else's voice in this thread. I would love a quick way to add cups/bottles of water to my dashboard via the watch. I hate having to grab for my phone each time I want to log water. It's a nuisance.

Another vote for this to be added to the Blaze natively through a firmware update.

FitBit: Add this and I will consider staying with fitbit when my Blaze dies. By perfecting your product your customers will be happy buying the next product when their current dies. By not giving a **ahem** about your customers they will leave for your competitor. Not many of us will give you more of our hard earned money to buy next gen to get the feature that really should be implemented from the beginning. But again... if we are happy with your product, we will stay when our current dies, we do understand, stuff dies, gets obsolete. We don´t like being forced buying your next gen just because. Enough rant

Sure, there is more I would like added to Blaze and Charge 2. Charge 2 is very close to be a finished product for what it is. Blaze is a couple of steps behind it´s little brother. The most gaps to fill is in your app(s). Just a day or two ago I still found a spot where start of week was off, sunday instead of my setting monday. It´s frickin hilarious and sad at the same time. Get your **ahem** together.

@LizFitbit, but that's only on the smartwatches then? (Ionic and Versa)

Why can't we get that feature on the other models? So far I love my new Charge 3. But it would be nice if I could set a specific water amount in the Fitbit app on my phone say 250 ml, 24 oz, etc and then have a button that only adds that set amount on my charge 3 in one of the menus.

Yes! This is the first necessity that came to my mind in just a couple of days since I started using my Versa!! This is soo needed.

This would be a very handy addition! 🙂

When I was using the Samsung Gear Sport for a few months before switching back to the Ionic I noticed they have a very easy way to log water consumed from the watch itself which was great to have.

Just got my Charge 3 yesterday. Loving it so far & can't wait to see if the Fitbit pay app works as well as Samsung Pay! That said, I think this watch really, really, really needs to have the ability to log-in water consumption. When I go to the gym, I don't like to take my phone in with me; I bought the Charge 3 so I wouldn't have to. Drinking water while working out is even more critical than the exercise you're doing. I would think that if you're spending 2 hours in a gym, it would be nice to be able to also track your water consumption via the watch. I would imagine an app like that would be about as simple as you can get. Heck, just having a picture of an 8 ounce water bottle that I can click each time I've consumed that much would work for me!

Either it be in incremented values or custom values, it would be much more comfortable to add water logs from the device.

Hi @SunsetRunner, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has a lot of votes. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

I’d also like to see notifications on the charge 3 to remind you to drink if you haven’t logged after a specific time.

Tiny little thing like this can help form a good habit.
