Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

This is the most frustrating thing.  Counting laps was the only reason I bought this watch. Big waste of money 😞

PLEASE make this happen.  I had the versa 1 specifically for swimming, loved it and its lap tracking -- I use it to know when I'm hitting a mile, and I loved the buzzing when I hit each 100.  It kept me focused   I thought the Versa 2 would be comparable, and I am very disappointed that it's not!

Hi katachresis (Jogger)

I have the same problem..... "swimmer? upgrade to Versa 2 and be downgraded in (swimming) functionality" Been watching the anger grow. Time I think that Fitbit was dropped by swimmers. Can anyone let me know of another brand that has swimming?  Will check them out. There appears to be no interest from Fit bit.

Nothing in reply except platitudes (even they are few & far between).

p.s. they also bother with replies to fellow customers..... make you sign in (after receiving mail) and thus obfuscating the ability to reply /support the person whose complaint I was emailed.

Fed up & majorly unhappy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have just upgraded from versa to versa 2 and can't believe that the versa 2 doesn't show how many lengths i've swum on the watch when the versa did! yes i know it shows in the app after finishing the swim but what use is it then?? how can you introduce a product which has less features than the previous one?? please fix this and show how many lengths/distance swum in real time during swimming for the versa 2. many hundreds of people on the forums are complaining about the same issue.....

If you browse the dev section, there are some posts referring to the Versa 2's lack of a gyroscope.  It may not be just a software thing.  There are questions that it does some calculations on just accelerometer data.  Either way, returned mine.

Very disappointed on receiving my Versa 2 to find that I can no longer follow my laps while swimming. No lap reminders or anything. How can you upgrade the watch and downgrade the software? I cracked the screen on the Versa and had to upgrade. Please bring back the ability to follow the swim.

I would just like to add my voice to this complaint. Like many I have just "upgraded" to the Versa 2 from the Versa(broken screen). I am just so disappointed with the swimming app. It is useless I don't want to see the time I want to see and be reminded of the laps!  This needs to be addressed ASAP.

Hi @Janna67, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about showing swimming laps on the Fitbit Versa 2. This feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.

Allow the Versa 2 to track your laps in the pool like the Versa did.

Hi @Trackie5. Thanks for sharing this idea about allowing the Versa 2 to track your laps while swimming. This idea was already posted in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. I to would like to add my vote to change the swimming data to include lengths completed. I have found myself reverting to my old Samsung watch to count my pool lengths which is extremely annoying. I would also like to question why my fitbit records steps whilst swimming? Surely steps recording should be suspended for specific exercises like swimming and cycling?

Hi,  Sadly hundreds of requests on various posts  for over a year have asked Fitbit to put back the length tracker on the swim app as it was on the original Versa, but all these request have been ignored by Fitbit with no explanation as to why this cannot be done.  The software existed on the original Versa so clearly exists, but despite the platitudes from Fitbit keen to hear feedback from its customers, clearly the feedback is put into a 'junk folder' and ignored. This total lack of interest from Fitbit following the inaccuracies that when I bought my Versa 2 it was advertised as having a lap counter, is shameful ( this is not now shown ) and I will not buy another Fitbit product ever again.
Kind regards,

I totally agree with @steve2000 . I’ve even tried emailing the CEO of Fitbit and still failed to get a response.

All we are asking is for an honest response from @Fitbit.  Will we ever see the same swim functionality in the Versa 2 which is available in the original Versa?

It would be really good to have lap or distance counting on the Versa 2 and the new Charge 4.  Both trackers currently lack this capability.  Just showing the time elapsed is, at least in my opinion, not very useful.  Lap or distance tracking would be a lot more useful since most people determine their swim workouts by length, not time.  Apple Watches and even the Pebble had this capability, so Fitbit is falling a bit behind the curve on this one.

I 100% agree, swimming is my main workout & this will be a deal breaker for me if it isn't updated soon.  Otherwise I love my versa, but let me know if anyone has suggestions for other trackers that have the option to see swimming data on watch face.  This really should be basic functionality & common sense - I'm beyond disappointed!

It's a shame isn't it! I certainly won't get another it doesn't count what
you do correctly either

Best to return it for a refund and buy an Apple watch, I did.
This issue has been raised with Fitbit for over a year, the feature was on the original Versa but not on the 'improved ' Versa 2.
So after many hundreds of complaints and comments Fitbit are not interested, so get an Apple watch, much better and a better company.

Inclined to agree does the apple work well for swimming?

It's a shame I changed when I cracked my versa screen.

How anyone can upgrade and downgrade at the same time beats me !

Fenex 6! I sent similar messages about the Versa 2 not being functional for
swim tracking and finally switched.
Garmin is set up for athletes. The Fenix 6 is great for multiple sports if
you do tri's, open water tracking and pool laps. You can program routes for
running, biking, etc. and it will direct you. Many more health and
performance stats available. I snorkel, freedive, and surf with it as well.

I just received my Versa2 after I cracked my versa1 and entered it to the pool, which fried it.

HOW COME IT DOESN'T SHOW LAPS DURING SWIMS?!?!?!

The Lap count is THE most important feature of the Versa and without it the clock is useless. I wan't to return it, however, I bought the Versa from the local importer and they don't allow to return it once opened.

I feel robbed.
