Add more swimming stats (lap times, elapsed time, distance or length) on screen

Upgraded from Ionic to Versa 2. Very disappointed with Swim tracking. Versa 2 lost the ability to keep track of elapsed laps. I have to count manually and that defeats the purpose of a fitness tracker. I was told this is working as designed. I will be returning the Versa 2 to Fitbit until this functionality is added. Going back to Ionic. Need the ability to customize Swim stats by:
- Completed Laps
- Elapsed Time
- Heart Rate   (vote here!)

The Versa 3 needs improved data for swimmers. Either with internal app of from app store, The 3rd party app swim.com tracks much more useful data for swimmers allowing improvements to be seen

Hi @JYJ00, we wanted to let you know that the ideas you recently posted already exist on the Feature Suggestions Board. You can see them here where you can add your vote to those existing suggestions:

Swimming should show more stats (time, distance or length) Versa 2/3

Heart Rate being monitored while in swim mode

Please try to make sure you only post one idea per suggestion, so we can keep the board organized, easily searchable and see which idea other members are voting for. Thanks for participating in Feature Suggestions.

Hi @charlotteloper, thanks for sharing this suggestion about having more stats visible on the Versa 3 while swimming with us. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. This will help us to keep the forums organized and make sure the suggestions don't get confused, or split a popular vote. Click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

It is all very well categorising feedback, but when will you actually deliver this change to your full ranger of trackers ?

Thanks

@LizzyFitbit for starters we all need lap count while swimming (shown on the band) both on the Versa 2/3 and Charge 4. This is the simplest most basic thing you should do first. So please bring it as soon as possible.

What is even worse is that this feature was available on the first Fitbit devices.

People ask for this feature to return all the time. They haven’t done anything about it so I assume they won’t bother. There’s only scripted replies on here. Nothing actually of value. This will be my last fitbit. They’re just rubbish now compared to what else is out there. Won’t waste my money again.

@Roochie definitely mine last too. I have put my Charge 4 for sale but no one wants to buy it so I am stuck with it for now.

And you are completely right, since the first complaint half a year ago they have just given us the same generic reply. They obviously know what we want but they just don't care.

In addition  to these agreeing with these comments/suggestions - just did my first swim in new Versa 3 and found out it does not track HR info - not real time, not at all - isn't this why we buy a HR monitor??

@RunGary don't hope it will ever happen. People were complaining about the missing lap count feature on the Versa 3/Charge 4 since their release but they still have not introduced it. Fitbit support obviously doesn't listen to their customers. I wrote dozens of posts here on how Charge 4 (just as Versa 3) is useless for swimmers unless it (at least) has lap count (shown on the band) and I just occasionally received generic copy/paste answers.

I gave up in the end, hubby bought me an apple 6 for my 70th, shame we
cannot swim at the moment!

@Janna67 I am trying to sell mine but so far no offers so I am quite stuck with it for now.

Is it even possible? Since Versa 3 lacks gyroscope I think it is an hardware lack and therefore not possible to implement it. Kindly advise.

I cant see why it wouldn't be possible, as the previous models had them so why wouldn't this model?

Hi

I have been the posts by everyone. Trying to solve my own problem with viewing Swim Stats.

My Versa 2 counts my laps/length and distance and time per lap.

When I complete my swim it shows me the first ten laps with time.

It then says refer to Mobile app for remaining laps. It then only shows me calories burned - not time per lap.

I'm I doing something wrong?

When doing squad swim training, I would like to be able to monitor my heart rate behaviour when doing certain activities. Please creat a device that will allow this. Ready to convert to Apple or Garmin!!

Hi @apspooch, thanks for explaining why you would like to be able to monitor heart rate behaviour when doing certain activities under water. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon.

Currently the Exercise app used for swimming on Fitbit Versa 3 provides no other data then time.
For everything else you have to check your phone. Distance, 100m stages, calories burned, etc.
I'd strongly recommend to make visible the core data on the watch itself. As it was in Versa 1 for example.

I also think this feature is an absolute must if fitbit wants to cover the swimming target.

Data shown on the watch itself, pool lengths counted automatically, etc. As it was on Fitbit versa 1.

It's bit meaningless to wear smartwatch/fitness tracker and count pool length manually :).

It is huge disgrace that Fitbit has not introduced this feature until now.

As far as I understood this suggestion can never be implemented lacking the required hardware. @YojanaFitbit can you clarify? Thanks

When do you expect open water swimming to be added as an option ?

I'm not sure I will be keeping my Fitbit Versa 3 since it its lacking in this feature. Please advise if this will be part of a future update.

I purchased this new model expecting better features than my Versa 1 and it doesn't seem to be the case, meanwhile better competitors offer the features I'm looking for. There's only so much a nice app interface and brand loyalty will get you if functionality suffers.

@JessicaPetsc people have been asking for this feature since its release but they obviously don't care. My advice is to sell it and purchase a device that can track laps while swimming. I did that yesterday.
