Allow Music transfer from phone

In the near future, please incorporate the ability to transfer music directly from your phone library. Preferably, this feature would even be available offline.

One grievance I have here is that it can only be done, online, with a computer installed with the FitBit software.

It seems minor, but, there are plenty of reasons this feature is troublesome; for example:
-can’t be installed on a computer (administrative rights on a work computer?)
-or not being able to connect to the internet (when traveling)
-or the connection is terribly slow.

@Jackmanrn You can transfer music from your computer (Windows or Mac).

I do not think it is possible to transfer music from your phone. Inability to do it is the point of this discussion.

If you find a way to do it, please, post it and the whole Ionic and Versa communities will praise you.

@Jackmanrn @Rich_Laue What I'm trying to say is why even have the feature to listen to your personal music off of your fitbit if it is such a pain to get it onto the device?

Other android devices I have used can all receive music from the phone they are paired to.

I spent an hour and a half yesterday trying to transfer music from my PC to my ionic over wifi with nothing to show for it.

I get that bluetooth transfers may be slower but if you just want to get a podcast uploaded to your fitibit really quick before a run it becomes more of an ordeal... Finding your computer... downloading podcast... make sure wifi is set up... pray that the ionic connects... sheshhhh

This should be something that you can accomplish on the way to the gym not having to base your whole schedule around. 😞

Also, I'm a spotify user, not pandora... another gripe for another fitbit thread.

Yes, I have seen so many requests for this, but Fitbit just does not do anything.

The music feature is one of the main reasons I bought the Versa, now I find out you need windows 10 or Deezer. I am already paying subscription to Spotify and Apple music, so I am not getting Deezer as well.

So according to Fitbit, the only other solution is to load and transfer music with a PC, BUT you need Windows 10 and no other versions of windows will work. I like Windows 7 and I am not buying windows 10, just to load music onto a device that was not properly tested, before release (this is the 3rd unresolved issue now, since I got it 4 days ago) to begin with, and every issue that is brought up by various people on the forums and emails to Fitbit, just get a generic response, with no solution. This post is more than 9 months old now, still no solution, still no other ways to load music.

Returning mine as well.

As someone who exercises almost daily and almost also intense exercise, I'm still overall disappointed based on product reviews that the correct fitness tracker and watch still does not yet exist for me.

Fitbit I feel has the technology and the capability to develope a quality product, competitive with the likes of Garmin, Apple, Samsung etc. and selling at the same high price point, but I still it is not yet there.

So, what I'm asking is for Fitbit to convert me. But to do that, you need to really go all the way.

That being said there are recent improvements and features to different versions of the Fitbit that appeal to me. I think for instance that female health tracking and O2 monitoriing are both really cool. But, there just is no single watch which has everything I need. Simultaneously, many of the trackers have features I will never want or need from my fitness watch like airline apps? and, the fact that these have ever been on the menu for development, whilst other features like music streaming have taken a back seat in development, makes me really question whether or not Fitbit knows its target audience. So, I'm going to tell Fitbit specifically the kind of watch it needs to make for me to buy in.

Must include all in one watch- heart rate monitoring, GPS, heat and water resistant, steps, different sport mode calorie tracking, easy functioning and easy to read screen, actual split timer, sleep monitoring, training apps, female health tracking, O2 tracking, compatability with all systems, comfortable wear and most importantly music streaming independent from another device and not limited to merely DEEZER or PANDORA.

Basically, the Versa and Ionic are almost perfect, but still not enough for me to drop the money. Ionic has GPS. Versa doesn't, but does have the female health tracking. While both have the ability for offline music storage of up 300 songs, neither allows for streaming cpability without bringing along the phone. Neither offer my preferred Spotify app, which really is a make or break. If I'm paying hundreds of dollars for a device, why should I have to pay and figure out how to use a third party converting application to get songs from my preffered app. And a lot of the time I'm working out, I don't want to have an already predetermined playlist; I want to mix it up with streaming what I feel like based on the workout and the mood. So, no matter what, until Fitbit finally shells out the money to get the actual Spotify (I know stuck in a contract with Samsung), they simply aren't going to get me on board. Got spend money to make money. Again, why hasn't Fitbit realized by now that nobody buys music anymore? We all stream and, we all want choice. If you limit my choices or want me to do extra needless steps to enjoy my workout, you add any value to making my workout easier or more fun. So, why should you get my money? Keep in mind, I'm a person who is constantly active (marathons, pilates, yoga, HIIT and strength training, surfing) and dying for one of these devices. There's plenty more people like me just waiting for the right device. You want to tap the market? Make a product worthy of the market. And maybe stop wasting money on buying rights to access airline apps??? Who uses that? I'm not using anything but a phone for that kind of stuff ever. And pretty much if it it a sedentary activity app, I'd view that as a waste of money

Positive note. The Versa is pretty fetch Gretchen. I like the style options but it and the Ionic could use a few more options in pink and grey hint, hint and wink, wink. The screens on both look great though. So, in conclusion, go forth make the dream watch.

omg... never-ending syncing problems, no music transfer, no chromebook transfer, problems, problems, problems.

A lot of money for basically... a watch and a gps tracker. could get that for 50 bucks. Considering just throwing my ionic in the trash.

Chrome as a web based OS has a limitation that there no option of a chrome app can connect to a Bluetooth device. Fitbits hand is tyied, untill Chrome is rewritten to accept this type of connection.

However Cheom is able to connect to a wired USB connection, but this would only be possible with the Surge.

I gave up and returned my Fitbit and went with an IPhone instead. Fitbit has no intention of fixing this issue...

Yes please!!!!! I switched from Apple to Android years ago mainly because of iTunes & being forced to depend on Windows to transfer music, etc. I LOVE Fitbit! Going on 6 years now. Just got my Versa. Happy to see that it can connect via Bluetooth & WiFi, but sad that I have to connect to Windows to get my workout music....... Please make it possible to transfer music directly from phone to Versa.

Hello, I have voted for this suggestion to promote it. Being an Android user who also only owns a Chromebook, I currently have no way to take advantage of the music feature on my Fitbit Ionic. I would really like the developers to work on a solution for transferring music to my Ionic - whether it is via my phone or via the Chromebook. Thank you!

Very frustrated!!! I bought the Versa to play music while exercising. Now I find out I will have to buy a computer as well. Why in the world can’t you use an iPhone to upload music?

Please work on this feature. I just got my watch, and this is so disappointing, I'm considering returning it. It's not just that you can't do it without a computer, but that everyone who has tried doing it has described it as a massive pain that doesn't work correctly.

Well, I have sold my Fitbit got an apple series 3, downloading music to the watch from my phone as we speak. 5 random albums 5 minutes.

Good luck everyone

Why is this still under consideration? This is a must have feature, because the Windows app just plain does not work for anything. If only there was a way to just have a good old USB transfer to get data in to this goddamn device.

Was completely deceived about the music.

Want to transfer from my Iphone (mainly because Windows XP does not work for a transfer). Not buying a new computer just too move tunes onto my watch.

Please create and fix for me that does not require a music subscription.

Ditto. Chose the versa because of music. Only use an iPad, so no music. Deceptive advertising.

Completely agree. I can't believe this has been "under consideration" for so long. These days many people do not have a home "computer". They have smartphones and tablets. I have a Microsoft Surface Pro that runs IE 11. Yet I can't transfer music.  I was told to either go out an buy a computer or find a friend with one so I can use this feature on my Versa.

At the time I bought my Versa (this past September), the description did not state music can only be added to the Versa with a "computer", it does not work with smartphones or tablets. I even reviewed the Versa in an online chat with Fitbit before buying.  Nobody said anything.

Fitbit, if you can't get with the times quickly, at least inform the buyer ahead of time!

Same... think I may have to return Versa only purchased so I could listen to music

Bottom line: It's 2018. Many, many people do much of their computing using handheld devices. I'm a small business owner and run about 90% of my business from my phone even though we have a brick and mortar location. I don't even use desktop iTunes anymore because I manage everything from my phone and backup to iCloud. The length of time and complexity of syncing music to my Ionic is becoming a dealbreaker. I'm sitting in running gear waiting for a 57 song playlist to download, and wasting my time. Garmin is looking better and better, guys...
