I would like to have added to your software Support for Multiple Fitbit Watches (Versa and Ionic) on a single Fitbit account (like the Multi-Tracker feature for Trackers). This would allow me to easily change Fitbit Watches without having to reinstall and pair each time. Please confirm you will add this feature?
Hi @Neugen, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option for these devices. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here. Keep adding your suggestions!
I would also like to see the ability to link multiple Fitbit watches to one account.
Charge 3 is probably my 7th fitbit (One, Flex, Force, Charge, Alta, Charge 2, Ionic, Charge 3), but being unable to easily alternate between Ionic and Charge 3 is disappointing. Having had as many as five Fitbit devices on my account at once before, it didn't even occur to me to wonder if I could use two different ones. And it puts me off on considering buying a new device until the old one dies.
I may have to use my credit card's return protection, since I'm just outside of Best Buy's return period for the purchase.
I agree that being able to switch between the newer trackers would be ideal. It worked with my Blaze & Ionic. Unfortunately, my Blaze doesn't work anymore and not available through Fitbit anymore (read - not supported). All of the new trackers have to replace my Ionic if I want to use them. I don't lose data but it resets Notifications, Activities, etc. which makes it inconvenient to switch, If you want to sell more trackers, make this work.
The switch device process is essentially setting up a new device every time (search for the device, agree to the terms, enter in the code, setup Wi-Fi, go through the how-to….). It’s ridiculous.
Perhaps, we can set-up trusted devices (go through the setup one time for each device we want to trust) and when I’m ready to switch, it’s a matter of sync, then switch without going through the setup every time. Perhaps the app can remember the Wi-Fi name and password so that doesn’t have to be entered each time.
What’s the use case for switching devices so much?
Depending on the situation. For example, if I am going to do some exercises I will put on my Ionic, but if I’m going to be at work or want to sport something more formal, I switch my Versa. I end up doing this once a day or more (wear Versa during the day, then switch to Ionic for an exercise, then back to Versa before bed).
I'm using my workaround and so far it's allowing me to use two fitbits, but note that one falls into the same category as one of yours: it is no longer being made.
Thi is so crazy. Loved my Charge 2 but wanted music for my runs so bought the Versa. Versa is a little more cumbersome than I hoped so decided to keep it for runs and purchased the Charge 3 because I love the charge features. Opened the box, set it up and couldn't understand why it wouldn't keep both connected like with the Charge 2. What a splash of cold water in the face. Becoming disenchanted with Fitbit. Somehow I have to sell my Charge3. So ridiculous. Maybe sell both and go with Apple Watch or garmin.
Not too bad if switch seasonally or weekend versus weekday. Bother if doing daily However the Apple Watch is expensive and too large daily wear. Garmin I have tried on is also large and not able to switch out straps
I would like to used 2 different Surge watches on my Fitbit account. It is very natural that a person would have a different watch for different occasions. For example, everyday wear, or workouts or event rougher or messy activities (remember the Surge does not allow you to change the bands, all grime must be delicately washed from a device that is barely water resistant.)
So after an extended chat with Fibit Support, I was informed that I absolutely cannot add a second Surge to my account. I would actually have to create a second Fitbit account. AND in order to create a second Fitbit account I would need a different email address. AND I would not be able to access these 2 devices via the phone app dashboard at the same time. I would need to login in and out of the Fitbit dashboard each time I wore the other Surge device.
I can't even use my second Surge as a watch because I cannot even set the time and date without linking it to a Fitbit account!
I was told that Fitbit policy prevents the use more than one of the same model device on a Fit bit account. The reason give to me by Fitbit support is to avoid double count of data.
Policy should consider the needs of the client. Each bluetooth device has its own unique ID, and Fibit would be able to avoid double counting of data just like you do when a different model tracker is added to an account. (Fibit allows multiple devices as long as they are not the same model.)
This is just a very poor policy decision and could be solved with some software enhancement.
Please, change the software to:
Assign a nickname to each Fitbit device
Enable pairing of more than one same model Fitbit devices to a single Fitbit account
Improve the dashboard and phone app to view data from multiple same model devices on one account.
I implore Fitbit to to seriously consider my request. There is intense competition in the smart watch and activity tracker market. Fitbit need to be smart, else the competition will steal market share.
Hi @bassoutwest, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here. Keep adding your suggestions!
Hi @blutzman, thanks for taking the time to share why you would like to see this option. This feature suggestion already exists, so I’ve moved your posthere. This is not currently planned at this moment. Learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in ourFAQs. I hope to see you around.
I would also like to be able to sync both a Charge 3 and a Versa to my 1 single FitBit account. After my Charge 2 began having issues, including a broken band, I ordered both a Charge 3 Special Edition AND a Versa Special Edition. I was just getting ready to set up the Versa (been using the Charge 3 since the day it came), and the app told me that I already had a Charge 3 connected to my app, and was I switching. Not knowing what else to do, I said "Switch", then just in case, looked at the device list, and the Charge 3 was GONE out of the list altogether! Why on earth would I be allowed to purchase both a Charge 3 AND a Versa if I can't have both connected to the app at the same time? Thanks goodness my FitBit One is still there (though I'm not happy that I can't buy more of those anymore).
So I'm getting ready to return the basically unopened Versa for a refund since I can't easily switch back and forth between the two devices.
It would also be impossible to move much with a tracker and a charging device strapped to the arm or waist.. If a user absolutely needs a second device for the 30 minutes or so that is required to charge then I would purchase the cheapest Fitbit that meets their needs.
Why it should only take 30 minutes?
For the health of the battery the level should not let drop below 30% or charge much above 80%.
"Bought my Garmin yesterday. With over a year of comments on this and it still being “under consideration”, I am done with Fitbit."
I totally agree and it is the reason I got an Apple Watch. I still receive these emails and as a stock holder I am still invested in the success of Fitbit. Unfortunately they are dropping the ball and honestly the CEO, James Park, needs to be fired. I'm watching my Fitbit stock plummet today down 80 cents a share already. They are moving WAY too slowly. Tech moves QUICKLY. If Steve Jobs ran this company (yes I know he is no longer alive) he would have this issue fixed by tomorrow morning or Monday morning at the latest. "Oh sorry Mr Jobs, but we'd have to mess with the servers and that just will take too much time. So I'm not sure we can get 2 Apple Watches working on the same account. Sorry." You know what he'd tell them? "Well, if you want to keep your job, I guess you and your team will be working 24hrs a day, over the weekend, and whatever it takes, but this WILL be fixed by Monday morning." I'll say it again, CEO James Park needs to resign or be fired.
I actually started this post and have given up. Between this issue and both my Ionic and Versa dying both in and out of warranty, I switched to Apple Watch. Goodbye Fitbit!
I would really love to have my Ionic and Charge 3 on the same account. The weird thing is I have had both of them since October 2018..working on the same account and then all of a sudden in February 2019 it just allowed one. Fitbit didn't really have an answer..they said the "engineers are testing it." That doesn't sound to promising. The work around is when I do run I remember my stats and put in a manual workout so I don't lose my steps.
