Allow multiple devices on the same account (Sense/Versa series, Inspire, Charge & Luxe)

Be allowed to have both a Fitbit Versa and a Fitbit Ionic on the same account so you can easily switch between them.

I would love to have the option of multiple devices as well. I have a Versa 1 and I've just won a Charge 3 but I'm not albe to use both with the same account

Is there a good list or explanation of which tracking devices are allowed to be used, concurrently, with what others?  I received a Versa; that worked with my Fit; I used both 95% of the day. If I was charging one, it counted steps from the other. No switching required.
Then the dog chewed the Fit, and I cannot buy another. I wanted something small in my pocket. Fitbit chat suggested I get an Inspire. I bought one, but cannot use both as I’d like.
What are my options‽

Wow, can't believe they'd make a recommendation knowing the problem you
would face.

@Bob142 yes it has been explained several times above.

Only 1 device running Fitbit OS may be on your account at a time. This limit is because of the way the App store is set up.

Only one of the following.

Ionic, Versa, Versa Lite, Versa 2, Charge 3, Charge 4, Inspire, Inspire HR.

The following can have one of as many as the user wants, even with one of the above connected.

Surge, Blaze, Charge 2, Charge, Charge HR, Alta, Alta HR, Flex, Flex 2, One, Zip.

@Rich_Laue

If I responded to whatever you meant by "Personally It annoys me that users need to ask Fitbit to bring back an option that they previously fought for and had received" it was coincidental. My response was to other things you said it that post. But I think you know that.

Best of luck

<< There's no simpler way to switch between devices easier and faster. That would help save me so much time and energy. >>

No there isn't. That is what this post is about. It used to work but it no longer works with "smart" devices (which are all the devices Fitbit is selling now). If you would like FitBit to add this capability, go to the top and select the Thumbs Up icon under the Vote Count to vote that you would like this feature. Be careful not to press it twice as the second time will take you "yes" vote away.

Best wishes

TWO YEARS ON NO MOVEMENT!!

I have two because the charge 3 does the oxygen variation but is too big and clunky for me to wear all day!.

How many more years will this take or should I just return them and  move to a different platform?

They are not going to fix this problem.

@Waddle said  “They are not going to fix this problem” And there is the actual answer everyone. They are not going to fix this, because for some reason Fitbit doesn’t see it as a problem.

Is that what Fitbit told you @JonDavidL? You already know that adding this feature is not a simple rewrite of the cloud services. Do we know what resources Fitbit has?

@Rich_Laue @I love Fitbit. But it doesn’t mean I never criticize them when it is warranted. It’s been years that this feature has been asked for. Garmin has allowed multiple trackers for years now with their “trueup feature”. Stop with the excuses. Ok. It’s not simple? So? Get to work. Steve Jobs (rest his soul) would have had multiple trackers on one account fixed in a week. Why? Because he would have demanded it be fixed. No excuses. Gotta rewrite software? Then I guess some software engineers are in for long nights and long weekends. Jobs didn’t make excuses. He got things done.

@JonDavidL , @Rich_Laue : Some 30/40 posts back I loudly thought about the probably bad design of the data model. Somewhat later Fitbit stated that the data model was developed for a single device only. So in order to have multiple devices at the same time they would have to reimplement basically the whole backend and all the apps which they won't do because (that is my impression) nobody thought of a correct implementation at the beginning and now it would be way to expensive to basically restart from scratch. So whoever has more than one FitbitOS device has to either live with this imho serious flaw. Or they move on to a platform that actually works 🤷🏽‍:male_sign: I think this topic could as well be closed because it won't happen. Maybe Google will phase out the old devices anyway and newer devices will run WearOS at some point? I have seen Fitbit to be a dead end a while ago. But I am still on here in hope they would make stuff better. Until now they are are a big letdown

Yes when Fitbit www released it was released as a single unit per account, we will ignore scales and the headphones.

Users requested multiple devices and Fitbit responded by adding this feature, I know some that still have 4-5 models connected to one account.

Then Fitbit released their Fitbit OS, sure they could released the store to accept multiple devices with OS at the time. It would be a lot simpler to troubleshoot problems without the multi feature and we all know and many have experienced unforeseen issues popup after firmware/software, even a server update.. I've seem several cases where an update bit of more than it could handle.

Did Fitbit tell you that it will not come?

@JonDavidL Very well put!

@mrmarbury  Thank you for the info about the "bad design of the data model" which I completely agree with. Looks like I'll be going to Garmin. FitBit should let people know they won't be fixing this, put it on the product info pages that multiple Fitbit OS devices (which is all they're selling) on the app is not possible, add a notice on ALL Help pages, and take down the Blog post that advertises this (yes it's from 2015 but without clarification, a potential customer does not know that it's changed). But they'd obviously rather string people along, sacrificing good customer service for sales.

@Rich_Laueand FitBit:

FitBit ASKED for this kind of backlash and customer dissatisfaction.  Not with "direct" words, but with direct actions.  They gave you the ability to have more than one tracker - so many people did and loved it.  Then they idiotically decided to implement a new system and removed that functionality, ignoring their competition (ALL their major competition supports multiple trackers, at least that I've seen).  When you give something people like then take it away, you anger people.  This is basic psychology.  FitBit COULD have done better from the start.  Instead, they lacked foresight, competent management, or programming skills.  Maybe all three.

I will switch between my Ionic and Charge 2 when one of them is being charged, or if I want to go out with a big tracker or the smaller one. This works great since the app can switch between my two trackers.

However, my Charge 2 is ancient, with a cracked screen and I want to replace it with a Charge 3 (or the new Charge 4). Unfortunately, I can't use my Ionic and the new Charge trackers (Gen 3 or 4)  together because of an App Gallery issue, something I don't understand at all. Why was this capability pulled?

I can find Charge 2s at Amazon still (for roughly the same price as a Charge 3), but I'd like to have the features of the newer gen Charge trackers. Fingers crossed you can get this all fixed.

Fitbit, can you get this weird incompatibility fixed? I'm willing to own ever more of your trackers. You're losing business from folks like me!

I was using fitbit since Blaze, I have two Charge2, Versa and Versa2. If I would know this I wouldn't buy Versa2. I really love Fitbit gui and I love Fitbit over Apple watch, but this is frustrating. I wanted to have account to record all my activities during the day (exp. wear Versa2 at work, and use Versa for training)... Now.. I can have only 1 linked to my account. I see that people are complaining this for a long time... SO .. Fitibt.. WHEN this will be SOLVED?

It is mentioned in the help docs, and on the old comparison page.

@Rich_Laue"It is mentioned in the help docs, and on the old comparison page."

Correct.  Exactly where EVERYONE checks BEFORE they buy a new device.  It should be common that any feature that was previously present on a company's products is verified available on future products.  No one should ever assume just because a prior version of the product allowed a common, desired feature that new version will.  It's clearly the fault of everyone for not checking the help page first and Fitbit is not in the slightest to blame for this.  I don't know why so many people feel differently.

I couldn't agree more with your comment. We should not lose abilities on Fitbit that we had before.

@Rich_Laue Are you serious with this answer? So check all help docs and OLD comparison page? 🙂 You must be joking.

Btw... Fitbit should work on this issue (which seems that occurs for a loooong time). As far as I know - more devices they will sell, bigger revenue they will have. Not allowing two similar devices sync same account they are loosing revenue and they will loose customers. Btw... Garmin doesn't have such issues. #justsayin
