Ankle mode

Please make one u wear on ankle then u would get all the steps. When u are in a store with carts such as grocery, target etc it won't record all the walking one is doing with a cart. I have to try and push with one hand!! They can have pretty but functionally ankle devices some can be practically for a guy and pretty like an ankle bracelet for a women!!! Please develop this!! Soon!!

We need more swim friendly options. One worn on the ankle would be preferable as not everyone can wear wrist trackers.

I wear mine around my ankle now.  I keep it there with my sock or I tape it with medical tape.  Would love a fit bit holder that looked like an anklet.   Please keep the idea open.  Would be more accurate than a necklace I would think.

Honestly the real thing i would love to see done, would be the app, to be setup for ankle usage, I wear my flex 2 on my ankle and see alot of 3rd party sellers for ankle bands and what not, but that still doesn't fix the calorie tracking issue, something to do with ankle moving faster then wrist, but i would love to, instead of selected dominant/non-dominant for hand, how about adding, ankle. I feel like there could be alot of happy people out there if this could be tested, troubleshot, and implemented.

Please make an ankle band for the Fitbit Flex 2. Not an extender, a separate band. I NEED it for many reasons.  I think steps are more accurate than wearing a wrist band, especially if you carry a lot of items, but I especially want it for water aerobics/water walking.  On the flip side, I get "steps" for folding laundry and loading/unloading the dishwasher, etc., that I didn't earn.  I see someone suggested a clip for Flex 2, that would work too, I'd just change to the band to get in the pool. Thanks in advance for your consideration. I am happy to be part of a test group when you go ahead with the design.

I would love an ankle band.  The wrist band bothers me when I sweat and the clip on gets washed and ruined accidentally.  I have large ankles so it would need to come in different sizes.

Thanks for the suggestion MoLazar!

Thanks dmj! I love my Fitbit Charge and honestly think you get a more accurate step count with a clip on than a wrist band. But steps would be the MOST accurate with an ankle band, and I really want one for water aerobics. My legs are moving more than my arms.

I just found a fitbit extension on Amazon for less than the etsy ones.

They need a Fitbit anklet because I recently found out it didn't track my steps after I spent five hours pushing baby carriage around the Bronx zoo.

I see I'm not the first to suggest this. Apparently you don't listen. Please, for several reasons, make an ankle bracelet for the flex. Reasons:

1. It doesn't track if you're pushing a cart.

2. It doesn't always count steps unless you swing your arm.

3. The bracelet hurts my wrist and can be uncomfortable.

4. I wear it in my sock and I'm afraid I'll lose it.

5. You can design pretty ankle bracelets that us women would love.

6. You can create a new sneaker or shoe design that has a secure pocket in it for the fitbit flex.

7. Or even a pair of socks with a secure pocket in it (water proof in case it does through the wash).

Dudes...i should be paid for my ideas but since you had me agree to a waiver...just make what we are looking for so we can pay you to have them!

What's the hold up? This has been suggested a few times over the last few years? Let's get better products out there and keep people moving.

A fitbit that attaches around your ankle or one above the elbow for nurses. I always want to track my hr at work and the amount of steps i do but because i am are bare below the elbow im not allowed to wear one! Thanks

Would love to be able to track ALL of my activities otherwise a phone app does just fine. Having to manually log stuff defeats the purpose of wearing a device. It would be great to be able to say put the fitbit on the ankle to track biking and rowing and other floor work exercises.

I agree with this but for the charge 2 also. Make it work with any fitbit

I couldn't agree more.  I am seriously considering reselling my Alta and going back to my Zip.  At least I got all my credits that way.

That is a most awesome idea!!!

Err.. idea's! Any of those would be most awesome! As you stated, I'm sure a lot of women would love any of them! I think you're on to something with the sock and or shoe, especially for guy's! I cannot believe no one has done this yet!!!! 😱

(I'm hoping my "commenting" may inspire.. something?)

Everyone in my family wears the Flex Fitbit on their ankles instead of their wrist. We buy the XL. However, men most likely will need a XXL or XXXL size for their ankle which doesn't exist yet. I have been wearing my Flex Fitbit for 3 years and always on my ankle. Just makes sense to me since we are counting steps. I would like to see more product options for ankle Fitbits, but as long as the Flex isn't discontinued I can get what I need.

I agree with above.  Having as an ankle bracelet would be great.

Iesdor

actually, you can probably just wear it on your ankle anyway.

I don't have a large ankle but I can tell you that the large bracelet doesn't fit around my ankle. (maybe I do have a large ankle and don't realize it, lol). I have tried putting two of them together but then of course it is too big and flops around too much and I'm afraid it would get caught on something and then I'd lose it. I can't afford that. It would be much better if they would just create one specifically for the ankle.

Oh, and to Celliot...congrats on doing it with your family! I do it with my husband, two adult kids and even my 10 year old grandson will join in on occasion. It's a great way to keep everyone connected and aware of how important it is to keep moving to be healthy!

I see there are already a LOT of feature requests to be able to wear your Fitbit on your ankle and have it accurately measure steps from there.  Here are just a few:

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/counting-steps-more-accurately/idi-p/1009751

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Ankle-fitbit/idi-p/739663

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Ankle-band/idi-p/2080950

I would like to take this one step further and request not only to have an ankle device, but to also design it in such a way that you can pair it together with any wrist tracker and have them work together to more accurately track activities.  Yes, this would mean (possibly) wearing 2 Fitbit devices at the same time.  One could wear JUST the ankle device or JUST the wrist device, or one could wear both and the two would communicate with each other which would paint a more detailed picture of what you are up to.

Note that it doesn't have to be an ankle band--it could be a foot pod that attaches to shoe laces or something similar.  Perhaps the leg/foot device could have options, I don't know...

Also, no matter how the devices are connected to each other (ANT+, etc), the presence of an optional (added-on) device should not affect the way the phone communicates with them. For example, Garmin has the ability to add foot pods, heart rate-chest straps, etc., to their activity trackers, but if you do this, the Bluetooth capabilities will not work.  This (almost) kills the appeal of being able to add accessories.  There is a Bluetooth speaker (made by Braven) which is able to stay connected to a phone (or other Bluetooth source) and simultaneously connect to a second Bluetooth speaker (of the same model) so that you can have a fuller sound.  I believe they do this by using multiple Bluetooth transmitters/receivers.  Perhaps the activity trackers can take the same approach.  OR perhaps the two devices don't actually need to know about each other directly, but when they transmit data to the Fitbit app, the app then merges the data at that point.  The implementation details are less important to us end-users.

There is already a significant demand for being able to wear a tracking device only on one's ankle. I totally think you should do that.  While you're at it, why not also design it so that you can be even more accurate?  The direct pay-off for you is not only that people who want this feature will wind up buying 2x as many of your products, but I think it would boost Fitbit's reputation as being serious about accuracy and innovative features.

I also like the idea of the ankle band  I just purchased the Thankscase Genuine Leather Strap Wrist Band Replacement,Top Quality Spring Bar and Beautiful Embossed Pattern for Fitbit Blaze Smart Fitness Watch.(Rose Sport)   on Amazon and because it has holes on the entire band it also fits around my ankle   Will try it tomorrow and advise how accurate it is in comparison to my wrist.

Ok, so let's look at the point someone made that it will count your walking or running differently when it is on your ankle?

I am NOT seeing that. Is anyone else seeing that? It certainly isn't randomly setting it to run for me when I wear it on my ankle.

Also, I got one of those metal Milanese style ones from Walmart, and it fits my ankle nicely, and causes no issues so long as I am not too hairy.
