Barcode Scanner

I'd really like to see a barcode scanner for food entry, like Loseit and MyFitnessPal offer.

How do you vote?  I would like to have a bar code scanner as well as a larger database to search for food to make it easier to add the correct amount of calories.

I think a barcode scanner would be a great help!  I'd also like to see a larger database of foods and restaurant menus.

I agree - scanning bar codes would be a great help.  I've often referenced MyFitnessPal for calories if I couldn't find it on FitBit, and recently started using the app since I heard you can link FitBit and MFP, and you can scan bar codes w/ MFP.  However, it only links one way - MFP wants you to log everything there.

I've already got lots of favorites and meals already set up in FitBit, and none of them tranferred over.  And you can't create a meal until you're actually logging it.  I found it to be a waste of time, so I'm going to just use FitBit as I have been, but really would like to have the scannig ability.

I agree! It would be so much easier if we could scan our food. It would also be fun if there could be a Canadian option in the food selection, sometimes I'm not able to find my foods. But overall I just got my fitbit one and I LOVE it, it makes trying to be healthier much more fun! 🙂

YES! I would love to have a food scan. I currently use FATSECRET to scan and do calorie count. You can add photos of the product and even rate them. I would love to see a feature like that on fitbit. Then i wouldnt have to use fatsecret any more.

Would make life so much easier if there was a scanner.

There is always the question about whether one should eat anything that has a barcode.

But yes, since I do, I would love this.

I want that too. and I wonder if they take all the food that everyone else would enter, to add to thier log lists? like today , I had a Tropicana juice. I had to manually enter the food log, but my input could be helpful to others. I know it will be availible to me in the future, but could somebody else now see that juice as a selection they can choose?

stealing the implementation that mynetdiary has where unrecognized bar codes allow you to fill in all the nutritional data and/or upload a photo of the nuturtional info to be entered by magical eleves would be great. This also allows one to upload corrections to the barcode/nutritional info

I love using my fitbit everyday and keep up with it. The most annoying thing is when I always have to typing my food in. It does took some of my time and most of the time i usally have to put all the information in myself. I think you should add a barcode scanner for some of thoes food that have them on the packages to the fitbit app. where you can get all the nutrition facts. I know my fitness pal has it but its really annoying to have to go to anther app when it can all be in just one. I think other poeple would like this too

AGREED.... it's my #1 complaint. We started with flex and now have force. Sometimes i dont do my intake because of how low it takes to enter new foods. Being able to scan off a label would be a HUGE improvement and time saver for us busy people.

I totally agree with angelbaby...a bar code scanner is almost a necessity.  Prior to having Fitbit, I used My Fitness Pal and it is so easy to track food with the bar code scanner!!

Agreed!!!      MyFitnessPal barcode scanner is so nice and easy to use.  Having to use two Apps to track food is a pain.  Come on Fitbit get on it!

This would be such an amazing improvement, I don't think I'm overstating that either, If I've just bought some food from the shop and I'm in the street it's painless to quickly scan a barcode, it takes no more than a few seconds. Currently unless I want to start manually trying to figure out if it's in the database and if not adding all the amounts I have to keep all the packaging from the food I've bought and enter them in at home (not something I ever do because it's so much work).

I hope this happens.

I use LoseIt and the benefit is the fact that the scanner is so easy to use.  Tracking food you know you have the right product and even if a product is not in there just scanning the food you are able to quickly add the necessary details to create a new food.  I would really enjoy the app if the update has a scanner like LoseIt.

I've used MyFitnessPal in the past and have been entering foods for transfer into Fitbit but you don't get all the data.  You have to upgrade to FB premium if you want to see the comparison of protein vs. carbs - not worth the upgrade if I dont' have the data to support the extra reports in premium.

PLEASE, are you listening?  If there were a bar code scanner for the app I could stop using MYFITNESSPAL and enter everything in FitBit.  We are waiting!  This too is my #1 Issue with FitBit.  You are behind the times...  And I'm 63!

yes, a bar code scanner for food intake woudl be great, or parter with Loseit! or My fitness pal so we can make it simple.

I would love a bar code scanner for logging in food so that I don't need two different apps.
