Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in. 

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

Would also love to see new weekly or monthly challenges associated with certain holidays, seasons, or even things like "National Donut Day" just to create new motivation to get away from the monotonous Challenges that exist now.

Would like to have a distance challenge. It'd be nice to be able to challenge others to a distance challenge.

Since beginners might be challenged by 5 miles whereas others would be challenged by 20 miles in a day (or more in a week) I suggest that for challenges they do the following:

a.) Allow a drop down menu to choose the challenge distance in 5mi increments for daily mile challenges up to 25mi for the day.

b.)Allow a drop down menu for users to choose distance in a workweek hustle in 5mi increments beginning with 25mi by end of week.

So beginners that do a workweek hustle challenge and choose 25mi, can achieve that by doing 5mi daily. But those who are doing more can choose, say, workweek hustle challenge of 75mi (an daily average of 15mi/day).

Or just do that drop down thing for a goal day challenge and have the workweek hustle declare it's winners by whoever covers the most miles by end of the challenge.

Just my two cents.

I really hope you guys add a distance challenge though!

Additional challenge options would be great. Active minutes it the one I would want first but calories burned would be nice to have as well. It seems like this should be an option especially since being fit is about more than just steps. I also understand from a friend that some people can just wave their arms to add to their step counts.

I would like to see the ability to make custom challenges.  Like many before me, I don't always make the steps, but do get other excercise in.  I would love to have a distance challenge, to even out the playing field.  I ride my bike and get miles, but no steps.  My sister steps and beats me all the time, but I have more miles than her.

 

Please, please add a distance challenge!

I am 5'4". My husband is 6'4". Any step challenge is clearly in my favor. The only way to fix this problem is to make a distance challenge. There should be an option to select steps or distance when creating a challenge. While I love beating him each week, it's obviously not fair.

Hello.

 

I'd like to know why are fitbit challenges so repetitive? I see 5 different challenges and they're all about the same thing: do steps.

 

I would live to see some calorie challenges for example.

 

Another thing I find annoying is the fact that i can't view my friends' dashboards in the app, only steps. A little boring in my opnion, an update is surely needed in software an social departments, right now everything feels a bit lazily integrated.

I agree! Or since it tracks running, gym, yoga etc, why not add challenges for that too?! You know, who goes to the gym most in a week, or a month! Really challenge people. Steps alone isn't nearly enough to gauge ones activity level. I have a deal job, so my steps are low, but i spend an hour or more at the gym each night. What about a biggest loser challenge? Weigh yourself at the beginning of the month and once a week for 4 weeks. There's just so much these devices track, there should be challenges to accompany it!

Yes, please create more challenges! Floors climbed, miles walked, minutes excercised, water drank. It would also be helpful to be able to change what our "workweek" is. Not everyone has a m-f job. Anything. We love challenging each other, but the existing ones are kind of boring now.

Please do add a stairs challenge! My friends work in wide flat buildings and I do stairs all day and I want to be validated! 🙂 The other day I did 36 flights of stairs and I was glad somebody(thing) was counting.

I'd also love to see the 250+ steps each hour converted to a challenge.

I see that this thread was posted almost two years ago, but it still seems relevant!

Maybe challenges don't seem like they make you money, but one friend bought a fitbit just to join our challenge!

I would love the active minute challenge and even one for # of floors.  I also wish the boot badges had a # on them so I know ie 15, 20 etc  The colours mean nothing to me.

Fitbit should understand that there is an entire market segment who workout at gym with weights. These guys currently stay away from using fitbit rendering that steps dont matter to them.
Steps challenge indeed is a gr8 motivator. But then Fitbit should expand its reach.

As a taller female I have a hard time competing with shorter individuals because of stride length. It would be nice to have the option of having competitions based on distance rather than steps.

Hi and my colleagues work together a lot and have fitbits and constantly challenge each other to work more and time ourselves and we would like to see more range of challenges especially the calories and active minutes. As we both are competitive and try to do more to see who is faster and have burned the most calories etc.... Please please add more as we do enjoy using it.
