Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in.

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

PLEASE do two things to make “challenges” fun and relevant again:

1) Add an ability to adjust the notifications. I don’t care that “Dan bolted past Emily” every 15 minutes. I had to turn off notifications because they were far too spammy. I care about my position and distance from the leader once a day.

2) Make a new challenge game type where you compete based on your percentage difference from your 30/60/90 day step average. So you are battling percentages (e.g., I am 110% my past 30 day average whereas someone else is 85% their 30 day average, ergo I’m winning). This challenge type would be AWESOME to finally level the playing field. A family member who runs marathons hasn’t lost a challenge in 2 years and it’s pointless to join their challenge. Now if there was an percentage difference from your average, then even my grandma that can barely walk has a chance to beat the marathon runner. Also prevents the marathon runner from continuing the never ending winning streak (b/c their 30 day average keeps going up).

I love Fitbit and have gotten my whole family addicted over the past couple years, but the challenges have become all but irrelevant. Please update to make fun again!

I completely agree! It would be really nice to see other types of challenges with active minutes, floors, calories burned, anything.

I would love to see this too. On my Garmin app I can challenge myself to calories burned on different exercises for example rowing. It would be to challenge friends to workout/ calorie challenges, how motivating. Steps are ok and get me out and about but I don’t run, I choose to circuit trading, row and kayak. Hope you can help.

Please implement the more challenges, there's like 2..... There should be user submitted ones that friends can agree on the parameters. The person setting the challenge would be greeted with a bunch of tick boxes and sliders to customise the challenge to their needs

Yes excatly!! I workout more than I do steps, and thats unfair for people who like to excercise more than walk or run.

Cardio, yoga, bikes challenges are a must!

I think that there should ba a challenge to see who can get the highest score in fitbit flight. This would encourage people to make their goals to play the game to beat their freinds.

I think a workout daily challange for the week would be great. Who works out the most in the week??

I've decided to stop participating in step challenges because they interfere with my personal floor goals.

I guarantee you that FitBit's actuaries have told them that floor challenges open them up to liability through possibly promoting over-exertion.

The fact that they've chosen to completely disregard these requests speaks volumes.

Welcome to America in 2017.

Yep I agree, I always thought that was the point of fitness tracking rather than incidental steps. Would love to be able challenge friends with activity challenges, rowing, circuits etc and calories burned. Certainly on Garmin you can challenge yourself to specific calories burned to specific activities over a different time frames. Come on Fitbit live up to your name and give us more than steps...

FitBit Suggestion: Please add ability to challenge friends to not just steps but also to distance, calories, active mins etc. @FitbitSupport

Calories burned would be awesome, steps are not the only challenges Fitbit, especially if you circuit, cycle, row etc. I would love to challenge friends to exercise goals and myself to month challenges on specific routines even Fitstar or Fitcoach. I hope you are listening?

It wouldn't be great to have a long term challenge, for a customizable period of time, preferably, where everyone can set their own personal goal for weight loss. For those who don't want to reveal their weight, maybe the only info that could be revealed is the percentage of their goal achieved thus far. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to keep track of measurements. And again, only the percentages achieved of people's goals would show.

All his information should have the option of being entered manually, or through the Aria scale, for those who have it. And it would be nice to have more than 10 people in the challenges as well.

Maybe the app could generate some sort of comparison chart as the results trickle in throughout the challenge. Then we could see everyone's weight loss and measurement shrinkage over time.

As far the challenges go, can you add a Stair challenge. I like to take the stairs at work and I would love to compete against other who do the same or others that hike. Thanks!

New competition: goal streak. Invite friends and see who can get their step goal everyday for the longest.

I'd love a floors challenge.  I routinely do 300+ floor hikes in North Georgia.

I would just like to see the Ionic deal with cycling better.

It is obviously smart enough to know when to auto detect cycling activities, but also dumb enough that it feels the need to count steps during said activity.

I would like challenges for hours of sleep, active mins, etc... Also, I think you should be able to have a goal challenge that lasts more than 1 day.  You should be able to challenge others to goal challenges by week or even month.

Can you do a challenge based on active minutes, distance walked, or staircases climbed? It would be better to have more variety.

Stepping Up

My mentor and I both are sick of just doing step challenges and the hiking trails are all stale. Active minutes would feed our need to "kick it up a notch" and stay motivated! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE implement this feature. I am sure you could use a simiar code base as the original step-based challenges, but swap out the "step" objects for the "active minute" objects in the code. If you need coding help, please let me

Fitbit, you should have an "Active Minutes" challenge that we could do among our friends.

Truth be told, there is a difference between taking steps and being active. One could have 30,000 steps and be less active than the one that has 10,000.

know.

We desperately need a floors climbed challenge that we can incite friends to do with us.  Pleasse implement this as soon as possible. Thank you!

Wow. A moderator reply finally. After the 100 notifications from Fitbit of
people combining and editing these flights suggestions. It's been how many
YEARS with no replies? Fitbit actually doing something?

I would love to have a daily/weekly challenge based around Peak minute activity.

I completely agree! I really would like a feature like this (and possibly even competitions for things other than # of steps). I would like to be able to have sleep competitions based on numbers of hours, but also on regularity of sleep pattern (i.e. how often do you go to bed by your specified "bedtime"?, do you wake up and go to bed at relatively the same time every night?, etc.). This would help people get more sleep, but also help avoid those instances of going to bed at 9p one night and 2a the next, which is also very unhealthy. I would be REALLY interested in this.
