Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in. 

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

I'm  a long haul truck driver, my watch count steps all day long buy end of day I have 30,000+ step for just sitting and driving, I need challenges that does not have steps only. I would like challenge other driver to get out and move but step counts does not work with us.

 I love my new ionic, and since having my previos charge HR I have made 3 other of my friends get one too. We all compete most weeks in the work week hustle, in total there is about 20 of us. I would love if we could compete in other ways such as active minutes, water consumption etc. I understand that calories burned is different for everyone so this probably wouldn't work and may not be safe to do so.  But things like a 30day challenge or one week would be a great added addition.

I also would love to take part in the travel trails you have but I have not been to these places.  I wondered if this was something you were looking to explore in different area of the world. Great wall of China, England three peaks etc.

I agree a challenge based on exercise such as calories burnt during a work out or active calories burnt would be much better than based on purely steps as some workouts don’t count towards your steps

Please create some stair climbing challenges

 

All the current challenges are step based, and I think from experience they help push people to higher steps so my assumption is a climbing challenge would do the same.

I also have a group of people that I am looking to track weekly, and challenge weekly. Be able to comment on their new higher step count each week would help them stay active week after week. 

I also think it would be great if we could create personal goals, and compare who reaches their personal goal each week. Some of my group members are not as active as others are. Seeing some people get 12000 steps a day can be discouraging for them when their goal may be 4000 steps. If there was a way that each member could set their own goal, that would help each person grow, with out intimidation.

Steps are BEYOND boring at this point. You need more challenges like challenging people on calories burned, throw in caloric intake to make that meal check in something I'd want to use more. on activities like most miles on bike, laps while swimming and how about challenges for the most active minutes. And how about challenge combinations like calories burned while weightlifting, kick-boxing or any particular workout in a week. And Cardio score based challenges.  But you need to grow challenges beyond steps. It's dull at this point.

- Weekend Warrior based on Active Minutes

It’d be great to have a multiplayer challenge that relates to the hourly step goal. You could award points for each hour a player hits their hourly goal and total it or average it by person. Average may work best if people set different hours or number of hours to move. Eg, I set hourly movement goal from 7 am to 9 pm but someone else sets 8 am to 8 pm. If we both hit all hourly goals, if you average it we’d both be at 100%, if you total it, a 7-9 would haves more points than 8-8. But perhaps you could also go above 100% if you took 250+ steps also at say 6 am and 10 pm.

Hello, I love the challenges. I just got a new Fitbit Charge 2 for Christmas. An idea, I am the worst meeting my sleep goal. Maybe in other versions, we could have sleep challenges? Just an idea. From what I am reading sleep deprivation is a huge health risk.  Some studies compare the risks of sleep deprivation greater than drunk driving.  Thanks! Ellen

So I realize that fitbit was created for people to track their steps. But many people don't have daily step goals and are more into activity or calorie goals. My goal is at least 30 minutes of daily activity. I use the Exercise>Workout feature on my blaze to track my crossfit workouts. But when my friends invite me to challenges, its all about the steps. I don't care about steps.  Many other people don't care about steps. But there are no challenges for people who have other goals. Some suggested challenges: calorie burn, exercise sessions logged, most activity logged, etc. Please create community challenges for people who don't care about steps!!

Since many of us use our Fitbits to track activities that don’t count steps (hello, mountain biking and skiing!) but would still like to participate in challenges, could we have challenges for Active Minutes?  They could work the same as Daily Goal, Weekend Warrior etc. except using Active Minutes to determine challenge outcomes.

It would great if we can pick the items to challenge others on like, resting heart rate, weight change active min challenge an or hourly activity not just steps. There’s more to activity then just the steps. It would great to have preset overall fitness challenges where all of these items are considered if you can’t let is pick.

 I agree,  to improve overall cardiovascular health, the American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes per week of moderate activity. Tracking activity is actually more important for heart health than tracking steps.  Also, step challenges only benefit people that exercise by walking or running, activity challenges would allow people to participate that use other forms of exercise like swimming.

I would love to have the ability to do a Hydration Challenge with my friends! Many of us struggle to drink the recommended amount of water each day and having this, with the built-in reminders from FitBit would be fantastic!
