Decide if you want to delete recent/frequent food entries

1. You can add custom food entries which you can delete via the web interface - please allow deletion of these foods on the apps as well.

2. When you add foods to your recent/frequent list you cannot delete them anymore and so the list just grows and grows. Please let us delete these entries in the apps.

I agree with others that deleting frequent foods is an important feature.  If you decide you never want to eat a particular food and have decided on a different food that you DO eat daily, it is important to be able to clean up that list to make room for new items. Deleting from the "My Foods" private list does not help this problem.

It's been my experience that foods do eventually leave the frequent list. How long it takes depends upon how frequent you did eat the food before you stopped. What I've discovered when entering new foods I've eaten is to enter them under the custom setting when scanning the bar codes. Don't use the BAR CODE scan. Always go into the LOG FOODs feature and enter foods there with that bar code feature. If the food your eating doesn't have the box for a bar code, look the food up using the search and then either use what the search finds or take the info and manually enter it in custom foods. That way you can delete it later if you want out of the custom food. If the food you are eating is the same as previously eaten find it in your recent and mark for the current meal.
One trick I do to for one time foods is have a "miscellaneous " food on my custom set at 100 calories. I use miscellaneous for foods that should be only one time, I know approximately calories but I don't know other nutritional items for the custom food. Restaurant meals that show calorie count work well as a miscellaneous custom food. Hope all this helps. Bye for now.

Thank you. These are things that I am finding out. You are right and this info is what is needed. Maybe fitbit will make it easier for us sometime in the future.

My food list is very long. It contains several items I don't eat anymore and want to remove them. Please give me a way to delete these items, either on mobile device or computer. I would also like to create a meal item that includes several items and then only eat a portion of it.

This is pretty clearly a sloppy database design problem involving unnecessary and/or redundant unique database identifiers that your developers and DBAs have never bothered to sort out. The apps and website aren't (fully) at fault, since they only display what the program code and account database tell them to display.

If an app on your device gets corrupted (it happens) and you end up clearing its data, or you remove and reinstall it, the unique database ID problem comes up. The same almost certainly applies when you remove and replace a tracker, or if you buy a new phone and remove/replace that device on your account.

Add to that the fact that the food log labels/tabs/categories are not consistent across platforms (web/Windows/Android), so a food log label/tab/category that's called ABC on one platform is instead called XYZ on another platform. The labels/tabs/categories need to be synchronized to match across all platforms. I'm not an iOS user but I'm sure it applies there as well.

Why am I so sure of all this? Tech Troubleshooting 101: did anything change right before the problem appeared? If multiple devices/platforms are involved, are there any inconsistencies in the settings or functionality across those devices/platforms?

There are listings in my "Most Logged" list that I haven't eaten or logged in months, but they were logged while I was using my first Blaze. That tracker unit quickly turned out to have a defective bluetooth transmitter and had to be exchanged for a functional one. Once I received the warranty replacement tracker, I removed the initial (defective) device from my account listing. I have also upgraded my Android phone since that time, so just like with the Blaze replacement, I removed the old droid app's access from my account (as soon as I noticed there were two) and left the new installation.

It's clear that the food listings which refuse to move off the list were logged with the devices/apps that are no longer connected to my account. It's also pretty clear that each of these devices and software installations were associated with unique database identifiers, and because the account was initially created with those unique database identifiers, some of their data entries have gotten locked into place and refuse to drop off the list no matter how long it's been.

Our trackers and interface devices aren't the real problem, and neither are the various apps. There doesn't even appear to be a "delete all data" or "reset account" option anywhere that a customer can access it, so it's impossible to take off and nuke the entire site from orbit (it's the only way to be sure). This is pretty obviously sloppy database design, and it really needs to be sorted out.

Your software devs and DBAs really need to do some major debugging, ASAP.

I am not asking a question, simply stating that Fitbit app and dashboard still does not allow the ability to delete foods from your frequent food list. For example, I once scanned a barcode that is no longer available for me to purchase and I want to remove it. Fitbit app and dashboard does not allow this. It is such a simple request that most of the forums I have read agree should be allowed and yet, Fitbit refuses. Makes you wonder if Fitbit ever reads their enhancement requests forums.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. In terms of an update, there aren't currently any plans to release this feature. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we will let you know if anything changes.

Please alphabetize the recent and favorite food lists and all your customers to add/delete personal items as they want.  This would only be a tiny program effort to revise the current database.

This is an important feature.  It's easy to accidentally click on a food and have it added to your list.  You can then delete it from your log, but it still shows up on the list, which then fills up with foods I don't eat.  PLEASE FIX

I agree. There are foods hanging around on my "frequent" list that I have graduated away from on my diet *weeks and weeks ago* and I find it demoralizing to see them there all the time when I no longer rely on them!  There also seems to be no rhyme or reason to why certain foods are on that list in the first place - I see items there which I have only eaten once or twice and that doesn't even hold a candle to some of the things that I eat every day, yet do not seem to ever make it to that list.

Completely agree. The frequent list is quite short and lots of things I'd delete. Editable and longer please. Not so worried about recent, it is what it is.

I am deeply disappointed in Fitbit's response to this question. You guys may not yet have plans to modify this failure, but it is so obviously important to users that to not come out and just say that you've at least passed it along to a development team is horrifically poor customer support IMO. In case you missed it, we're trying to tell you that your 'Frequent Foods' feature is poorly designed, bug-ridden and demoralizing. As I stated in my earlier post, there are foods on my 'frequent' list that I only entered once or twice - far and away less often than other things I've been eating for months that refuse to show up on that list - and nothing ever drops off. Honestly, I think this list is really more of a "Foods I Ate Early On" list than a genuine 'Frequent' list. It stuns me that, being in the business of understanding how to best encourage weight loss, Fitbit could not realize and act on this demoralizing feature. I cannot possibly be the only user working hard to keep away from foods that I leaned on early in my weight-loss journey. If there is some bizarre impediment to repairing this feature, why don't you just allow people to delete that feature? The 'Recent' category is much more useful anyway and essentially duplicates the concept of frequently eaten. Something that would probably be much more useful would be a category called 'Preferred' or 'User's Choice' where we could star foods that we are attempting to emphasize and those would show up whether we were disciplined enough to choose them or not. Seriously, Fitbit, reopen this request.

It would be great if foods from the food list could be easily deleted. And while you're in there, could you alphabetize the list as well? I also wouldn't be against a filter at the top of the list so that I could quickly type in the food that I want to add, or at least a few letters...

It would be great to have the option to remove most frequent food items from the list.  Some foods you don't want to look at anymore because you are making better choices.  Seeing the unhealthy food is a reminder that it is available to eat (which I don't want to do).

This suggestion has been going on for years. The inability to delete unwanted food items from the lists of "recent" etc. columns is frustrating a lot of people including me. What is even more annoying is the arrogance of Fitbit moderators in failing to respond.

I agree, we should be able to delete frequent foods we no longer use.

I have search for days and have read a lot of the same complaints re: frequent and recent food log on how to delete the unwanted.  I strongly believe that Fitbit app design team should look into creating a feature to delete these entries.  I really hope that you guys take into considerations this topic as I don't stand alone.  Honestly I am going to look into the iwatch as I have an Iphone8 to see if this feature is a problem there because if its not I am going to think about purchasing one for this reason.  I have been very happy with Fitbit and had owned 4 different models and so has my family.  But reading all of the others client complained in regards to this situation is alarming.  Thank you for your time

Looking to see if Fitbit can add the delete options to both the frequent and recent food sections on the app. Currently it is only available under custom. Lists get too long and foods are not currently used that were entered long ago. Want to be able to remove those for room and have an updated current and correct list. Most items we imputed general information about a food and now that the scanner for the barcode can be used now more accurate information in loaded making the other information incorrect or outdated.

Also if possible can the foods be put in alphabetical order for easier access.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

When I Log Food, I use often like to use the “Recent” and “Frequent” lists.  I would like you to add a “Remove Food from this List” option, to enable users to remove that particular food from their “Recent” list or from their “Frequent” list.

For example, it is tempting that when I look on the Recent Food list, I see tempting foods that I ate in the last week or few weeks.  I would like to be able to remove these bad, unhealthy foods from the list, so I am not reminded of them and tempted by them, because doing this would allow the list to consist of more healthy foods.
