Dynamic retrieval and display of all daily nutrition values

Here is an opportunity for Fitbit project managers and developers to provide a greatly needed service to their device users, many of which would appreciate Fitbit’s assistance in managing their health.

Many of the users of Fitbit devices have real health issues and have to monitor different elements of their nutritional intake throughout the day. Other users have also voiced their desire to have a dynamically viewable recap of just where they stand at any point in the day.

Individuals with heart issues quite often need to be aware of their sodium intake or risk heart failure. And if truth be told, everyone else should be a little more aware of their sodium intake, as well.

Diabetics and pre-Diabetics need to keep abreast of their sugar intake throughout the day, not just at the day end. And for anyone wanting to lose a little, or even a lot, of weight should be watching their sugar intake, because what sugar cannot be used by muscles gets stored as fat.

Many people are literally afraid to eat out with friends or family sometimes because they are not positive about their current daily intake of a particular nutrient. Many spur-of-the-moment social opportunities are lost because they don’t know their current sodium or sugar totals for the day.

Why not, from the food log page of the Fitbit app have the Macronutrients icon be a touchable hotspot that would display this:

Daily Totals.png

The data in the graphic represents my actual intake on 1/19/2018 with the exception of vitamin and other base elements, but all of the information is available for quick retrieval from the Fitbit servers. And to quote Fitbit, “Your data belongs to you!”

I personally would be quite happy if that is all that was done, and as a first release it would be great. But it would be totally feasible to incorporate other requests for allowing the entry of target values for many of the nutrients shown in the label above. Values such as Calories, Carbs, Protein and Sodium. A new column next to “% Daily Value” called “Your Target” or just “Target” could be added.

Thank you Fitbit for having the Custom Foods creation capability that allowed be to create a food that actually represents my booked food totals for 1/19/2018.

Yes! Macros in grams on App!

So many people are looking for it, and the mods seem to be under the impression that it already exists.... Am I missing something?

So annoying to have to continue to use 3rd party apps when this would be a really simple update.

We still need this or something similar. This is a great way to fix a lot of things that are lacking in the dashboard/app. Not just to track sugar but to have gram values in the app - simple things that the data already exists for within Fitbit.

This would seem an obvious enhancement to Fitbit App.  It seems like a simple addition and after my search through all of the comments there is a high demand for macros shown in GRAMS as well as percentage.  It would be great to have this.  Percentages are not working for me.  I use the app, not the dashboard.  Logging food with a different app that provides this is not ideal plus I need to see my calories in/calories out.  Thank you.

Im wondering why cholesterol is not shown in daily stat. Im wondering even why not all lines in nutrition facts are not there, you have the information already so why not showing it to us.

@AlexandraFitbit I searched community and this has been asked since 2016.

I would love it if the app would actually show nutrition beyond calories/percentages.  Right now, I use My Fitness Pal (which helps me monitor things like grams of protein, iron, and potassium), *and* the Fitbit app, so for now, I'm not using the food tracker on the Fitbit app- I'm far too lazy to enter things twice. 🙂  Barring that, if the app could link with My Fitness Pal, I could just enter my food on MFP, and then see how my calories compare to my activity with Fitbit.  The data is there- let us see it!  🙂

I would also love to make sure I am getting proper nutrients based off good I enter.

Would also be cool to add these to goals.

I was coming to see if there was an update to this.... With my new kidney issues I desperately need to track these things and hate having to use 2 apps to do it with.  But I guess they aren't planning on working on this 😞

Hello,

My suggestion is to add nutrient breakdowns in the food tracker (Like the app cronometer but in the fitbit dashboard). Instead of worrying about calories you could measure iron, sugar, magnesium, omega 3 and amino acids to name a few. This would provide a much more holistic view of nutrition than just intake of calories, and is universal to Vegan and veg diets where Lyscine intake and b12 can be an issue.

Thanks!

Having all nutrients tracked would be helpful for everyone, not just a handful of them.  Like a personal nutrition label.  And let us be able to set custom goals because my salt, sugar and protein intake is lower than most due to my kidneys.

I see cholesterol now reported in Premium Daily reports thru the website, and want an easy to see it in a tracking trend or at least export it for further analysis. Anybody know how to do that?

Fiber intake is just as important as Water intake, yet most people don't consume enough daily.

Having quick access/view (like we have with water) would definitely help more of us stay on track.

It would also be good to have something similar for Sodium intake.

We don't always have time to go into our food log to check these stats, seeing them up front (like with the water) can help us to plan for the rest of the day.

ie -

do I need to add some EXTRA vegetable to the menu today

can I get away with having french fries today

etc..

For me too, saturated fat is far more important to display than sodium. I can’t see any reason why we can’t set our own display items in the settings. Surely that wouldn’t be too difficult to program.

Please add fiber tracking to the Fitbit app. I was recently diagnosed with diverticulosis and would like to assure that I am getting enough fiber with my food choices. I love using my Fitbit and really don’t want to use another app just to monitor my daily fiber intake.

I agree: please separate the fat.

Also, please make the macro/micro nutritional breakdown available in the app, not just the website.

I would also love to see sugar added to daily totals. I noticed there's another, older thread that requests this feature, but it looks like it has been closed to comments.
