Fitbit and Cyclemeter Integration

In THIS THREAD there's been quite a discussion on the desires of some for certain other apps to sync with FitBit, particularly for me the Cyclemeter app. In that link you can see a lot of the pros and cons of Cyclemeter vs. Strava and to be honest, Strava stinks.

I have reached out to Cyclemeter and they have passed along the request to sync with FitBit but they said unless there is a lot more interest (apparently I was the first to ask), they would have to hold off and maybe in the distant future.

I'm sure if FitBit contacted Cyclemeter that could get things sped up and interests piqued!

Apparently this integration is not going to happen. Neither FitBit nor Cyclemeter seem interested in expending engineering resources on the work.

I'll throw my vote on the pile .. please give us a way to link Fitbit with Cyclemeter. I've used the latter a lot longer than the former and I would dump the former qicker than the latter. I would prefer to keep them both because they are very cool tools to have on the road. It would just be nice if they could play together.

Whilst I threw my hat in the ring many months ago (feels like years, but thats technology for you!) and had contacted Cyclemeter as well to voice my vote, I have since then through use and experience, come to the conclusion that it is no longer a worthy cause. From my experience, the Fitbit is too inconsistent to even consider saving the HR data with my workout. I continue to use a HR strap that is far more consistent (yes still at times not perfect!). I think the fitbit is a great device and whilst the HR may not be always accurate, it is still a good guide and very usable for general use. I think Fitbit will continue to make good devices, but they will always fill the lower price gap as that is wear (no pun intended) their market is. For the more serious, there are plenty to choose from and they are also improving all the time. I have my sights on a future iWatch and with series II it is getting a little closer!

Who agrees or disagrees with me?

Interesting to know if this thread is being monitored. Or are all these comments in vain

I do agree that the heart rate monitor on the Fitbit Blaze is inconsistent.
When bike riding, it measures low. When running, it measures high. I base
this on comparison to a chest strap as well as my perceived exertion. That
said, I would still like to have the Cyclemeter integration. I'm also
curious about the accuracy of the heart rate in the iWatch. Being similar
heart rate monitor technology, it may have the same issues as the Fitbit
Blaze. But the iWatch has better phone integration, which is tempting.

Really need integration with Cyclemeter. I saw the comment to write to Abvio, on it.

Count me in with Cyclemeter support

Please integrate fit bit with Cyclemeter. $150 for charge 2 and I sill have to wear a polar chest strap to ride. You are missing a big community

Please add Cyclemeter!

Everyone who posts here to ask FITBIT to sync with Cyclemeter should also post to Cyclemeter to ask the same. I did it a year ago and Cyclemeter's response was that it is not on their To Do list.

Give up. Cyclemeter is not going to bother because of FitBit and the way they have some kind of weird proprietary coding. They don't want to make a special code just for FitBit.
I got rid of mine like 6 months after starting this thread. It's wildly inaccurate to say the least. Not sure about the new models, but mine stinks and never gave a correct reading for anything. I got a Wahoo chest strap and it integrates nicely with my Cyclemeter app which does ALL the things the Fitbit does and I don't need to wear the strap 24/7 unless I am doing something vigorous or specific. And it's accurate.

Amen. I agree with everything you just said and have in fact done the same as you.

Please provide integration between Fitbit Charge 2 and Cyclemeter.

Tired of the chest strap. We need a Cyclemeter Fitbit integration. Like many I thought it was there when I purchased Fitbit and was disappointed.

Just got a Fitbit to replace a Mio Fuse and find it doesn't sync with Cyclemeter. Just wanted to add my vote to get this fixed.

Please integrate the FitBit with CycleMeter GPS. Many of us use both, and the manual updates are not easy or very accurate.

I tried to post this suggestion on the Ideas board but that page appears to no longer be active. Thank you.

My wife and I have used both Cyclemeter and FitBit for years now. We would both love integration/data sharing. Please make this happen!

Integration between my Fitbit Blaze and Cyclemeter for the heart rate monitor would be amazing!!! It's the last piece of my fitness puzzle that needs to fall in place. It would be wonderful to have  my heart rate integral to all of the other data that I have with Cyclemeter. Fitbit, please make this happen!!!

HR sensor of Fitbit should integrated with cycle meter. Will be helpful to set HR targets in cyclemeter. All activities recorded in cyclemeter and Fitbit should be BI-directionally synchronised.

Yeah, cyclometer is by far the best cycling tracking app I’ve found, and integrating it with my Alta HR would be very convenient.

Using myfitnesspal pal to sync the two together is clumsy. Syncsolver and Health is even worse.

I had to stop using Cyclemeter after I got the Charge 2. Although, once this wears out, I won't replace it with another Fitbit if there is no sync with Cyclemeter.

Just got an Alta HR as a birthday gift from my wife after she heard me talking about how I needed a HR monitor to enhance my bike training.  Like many others on this thread I also use Cyclemeter for my current stats - very sad I can't import the HR data and now I'm left in something of an embarrassing situation if I want to return it.

It's 2017, it's my HR data, yet somehow FitBit have decided that they won't provide me with a means to share this data with other Apps.  Very poor!

UPDATE: As per the recommendation on this thread I have emailed abivo (cyclemeter developers) to ask about integration. They have been very good at responding and provided some good technical details about why they can't get real-time HR data via the fitbit API.  It's very clear that Abivo have tried and looked into this in some detail but it's Fitbit that are stopping this integration from happening.

Fitbits reason is to protect the battery life, by default it will only sync every 15 minutes and the data is then sent to Fitbit servers for cleaning/summary before it's made available via the app API.  This makes total sense as a default mode of operation but I don't understand why Fitbit doesn't allow me (the device owner) to override this protection.  I accept the constant communication would draw more power from the fitbit device but I'd happily trade off more frequent charging for integration with Cyclemeter.  Come on fitbit, do the right thing!!!!

Hello! Add me to the list of people who want Fitbit-cyclemeter compatibility.  I just got a charge 2 to try out. I’m not about to change my cycle app & so compatibility/non-compatibility will influence future upgrade decisions.
