Friends Daily/Weekly Step Count on App and graph

I think a welcomed addition to the friends profile across all apps would be the ability to see a friend's daily step count.  This would be useful when "chasing" a friend down.  Smiley Happy

Other user data such as, distance, active minutes, pictures and other information that person has set to share with friends would be nice as well.

Idealy the user would be able to slide through previous days like you can on your personal dashboard view

Yes it's really annoying. Wish they would address this for everyone!

Originally they said you can see your friends' steps but you can't. I've lost the will to live with it now ....

Hey Fitbit users... I emailed Fitbit's customer support back in January of 2016, and after a couple of email exchanges, here was their response below.  I've also tweeted them and their response was "not at this time" and to visit their Fitbit forum, which we have already done as this thread is two and a half years old.  Just lame! Seems like it could be a simple add. Jawbone's app is so much better, though I like the Fitbit device better so I've just dealt with their lameness.

Thanks for getting back to us.

After speaking with the engineers who designed the algorithms they stated that they are working to release new updates.
Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention. We've passed it on to our engineering team and they will be working on it. We may occasionally release updates for your tracker through the Fitbit app on your mobile device. These updates provide feature enhancements and product improvements, so we recommend that you keep your tracker updated. In the meantime we suggest you to create a Workweek Hustle by going to the Fitbit and selecting your ''Challenges'' and you will be able to see the daily steps of your friends.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have further questions.

Sincerely,

Diego A and the Fitbit Team

Hi: I've communicated with Fitbit several times regarding this issue, but no attempt has been made to address it. I think my communications were handled in a general way by customer service and I doubt that they were sent on to management. No moderator has ever tried to address it either. This is one flaw in the data they provide to customers.

Lanialii - how did you email to Fitbit customer service? Is there an email address to address this concern to Fitbit customer service?  Perhaps we all should bombard the customer service to get their attentions right now. This is so disappointment.....

However, reading a msg from Fitbit Team that Lanialii - it mentioned that there will be an upgrade soon.  I see it is being updated few days ago but nothing on Friends Daily Step count from 7 days to 1 day yet.

Also, has anyone tried what the Fitbit Team mentioned there..." In the meantime we suggest you to create a Workweek Hustle by going to the Fitbit and selecting your ''Challenges'' and you will be able to see the daily steps of your friends."  If so, how do we go about this?

Thanks and have a good Memorial weekend and be safe all...

Please offer a feature in app to switch views from weekly steps to daily steps. It would be much more fun in our challenges to see how far behind or ahead one is from their friends on a daily basis. The weekly count isn't as motivating. The point is to move daily but my friend just told me walked 19,000 on Tuesday and only 1,000 yesterday.

I've been wanting to see people's steps daily, but challenges for the week only show how many you do that week.
Couldn't we have, in the friends' profile their steps for that day and to be able to go backwards days, like their dashboard, but limited on their profile. For mobile.

YES, Please, please, please add the feature on the app to see your friends daily step count & not just the 7-day total.  This is quite frustrating to have to go to a regular computer to see this.  The app should do the same thing.  Don't understand why it does not.  Will be very happy when I see this feature.

Thank you.

My friends and I like to compete. It would be great to see not only the seven day total but the actual daily total.

Friends can only view weekly step totals currently. Would be nice if you could enable friends to view your current daily step counts as well as select additional details. The default should be set to private but you should be able to enable friends on an individual basis on what they can and cannot view.

I would also very much like to see the current day's step counts for friends -- especially in the friends list.  I do happen to like that it shows the daily average and 7-day running step counts, but the current day would be very helpful.

Maybe there could be tabs -- or preference selections -- to choose the info you would like to display by default but still allow you to see other views.

I'd want this for the web site as much as others want it for the mobile versions.  I mostly check and log from my computer when I'm at home.  I just find it easier to use a real keyboard and look at a large display.  In the mobile version, I find myself unintentionally clicking when I'm trying to swipe.

I agree.  Why would you do this any other way?  Of course we would like to see Daily step counts when sharing with friends.

I absolutely love my Fitbit One! It's so cool to be able to track my steps & compete with my friends. It really keeps me in check & accountable for my steps. It's cool to see the weekly steps of my friends & their daily average, but I really would love to be able to see my friends DAILY steps in the phone App too w/out having to go to a computer. Do you think that is something that will be available in the near future?
The app only gives me their average daily steps. I can't see their current daily steps unless I log on my computer & click on the bar graph for that day. I like to keep up with my friends on a daily basis too. Will that be available on the app in the near future?

I have moved from Jawbone to Fitbit and am disappointed this is not available. This definitely spurs you on and encourages to beat your friends!!!

I know we can see our Friends accumulated 7 day average steps on the Fitbit App, but I would love to be able to see their daily steps and how long ago that sync up. I like to stay motivated by seeing how many steps my friends have & I can only view it by logging into my computer. It would be beneficial to be able to access it through the App as well. It really keeps you motivated to see where everyone is on a daily basis.

Hi,
I switched from Jawbone to Fitbit but totally regret it as I find the Friends option not usefull at all. Why cant we see friends' daily steps on the app? Who would actually log on to a desktop computer to go check their steps each time. Please update the app! 🙏🏻😊

I'm really surprised that it s not developed yet ! As mentioned previously, without it i don't really see the interest of friend feature.. you can't spend your time launching challenges to be able to see your friends data !

Daily as opposed to weekly on friends tab is a MUST.

Every other fitness tracker, this is the default.

I am going back to my UP until this is rectified.

Hi FitBit community,

As you can see, this email forum has been going on for nearly 3 years!!  I've contacted FitBit myself a few times, even via Twitter, and the response is the same.  That they will consider it but after 3 years, nothing has changed. I agree the UP app is a million times better so it's frustrating FitBit can't make this simple change for mobile devices.  FitBit: please add the daily steps feature to see your friends' daily steps ASAP!

All very good points & I totally agree with all of them.  So much easier to be competitive with your friends on a daily basis rather than just a weekly basis. I don't understand why this was never just a given when they set the app up.

I really hope that somebody is reading all these comments and that the fix is on the way .

Apple does this with ease on the Apple Watch in the "sharing" section of the Activity app.  You can see your friends' daily stats including step counts on both the watch and the phone. I just returned my Apple Watch and bought a Fitbit. Feels kinda like a step backwards that I can only see a friend's weekly step count. What good is that?
