Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

For ME sufferers, doing HRM, it's really important to have a vibration/notification as you're nearing your AT.  I'd like to see something programmable from the Dashboard/settings to allow at least one, if not two thresholds. FitBit could win over many more users by adding this simple feature to the new Alta HR

don't worry guys it's obvious that Fitbit doesn't give a **ahem** about it's customers this has been requested over and over staring at 2014  I have a original charge HR and when I upgrade will be switching to a alternative that offers this simple feature

Oh! Ok. Thanks. It's a great shame and disappointing as it seems like an easy add!!!! When you reach a goal, you get **ahem**ed rockets and fireworks! Not much to ask for something when you reach your AT!

So how many votes does it take to add a feature? Looks like this has been a suggestion for about a year and a half. Love to see it happen soon! Vibrating heart rate zone alerts please!

Yes. Think this had been suggested since 2014. But nothing been done yet? Its an essential feature if you have a heart rate reader. Running and keep looking at the watch for heart rate doesnt sound effective. Please do something, just tracking disance can be done through mobile phone. Bought model for heartrate reader for a reason.

Guys, one of us should contact our "local action news" team and have them do an investigative interview or have MSN in the morning with Robin Meade mention it....Blow up Twitter demanding change or software update or else we all walk and change HR Tracking Brands! That's the only thing the respond too.

+1 vibration alerts for heart rate

Why hasn't this been done yet?

Also, it would BS if this is not done with a firmware upgrade, but would require a new fitbit just to push sales.

When I try to get into my peak or cardio heart rate zones I have to pause and look at my watch during my exercise. I think it would be good if the watch buzzes 1 time when your in your fat burning zone 2 when your in your cardio zone and 3 when your in your peak. This would be useful so I don't have to keep checking my tracker. If you think this is a good idea... please vote and comment!

Great idea!

This should definitely be a feature. Many people exercise to their heart rate rather than to a specific pace. This should be super easy to implement. Why has it been years of people asking for it without it being completed?

I too would love it if the FitBit can vibrate when I would hit a certain HR. Thank you.

Same here! Great idea!

This a great idea. Similar to what gps watches do in terms of buzzing for pace setting. Heartrate training would be an awesome feature.

I like the idea, but there would be one problem for me. In the course of a single workout, I may jump between Cardio and Peak dozens of times. My Fitbit would never stop vibrating. It would be nice if it vibrated for each zone only the first time it hits that zone. So it would vibrate once for the first fab burn, again for cardio and once more for peak, but not vibrate after that. It would be a nice way to tell when the heart is warmed up.

I Agree there should at least be some way to get notifications for entering a certain heart rate zone during workouts. I wouldn`t mind if it were vibration on the fitbit or a audio notification on my iPhone headset. It`s just so impractical to keep having to press the button and manually watch the heart rate when running.

I`ve seen this requested a couple of times before but unfortunately fitbit didn`t implement it (yet). It would really make the device a lot more useful for me.

Mio Fuse I used provided such vibration based zone warnings and even custom number of zones. It is simple, useful and elegant.

I am sure Blaze and others have the potential for this and will catch up... soon...

Adding this in would be amazingly useful for those of us who are using Fitbits to help us keep an eye on tachycardia as well.  But we should be able to set custom heart rate zones that actually work!  I tried the custom zones, it ignored them, and I've had to tell it that I'm 115 for it to show zones anything like low enough.  If my Fitbit could vibrate when my HR goes above 100, I would be able to keep a handle on my medical condition so much more easily.  I realise that Fitbit doesn't want to do anything that turns it into a medical device, but I don't think this would, just enable notification of entering a HR zone as requested by people wanting it for sports, and make sure there are options to set a fairly low number if desired.

I'm thinking about the problem of how often it should notify you of entering a new heart rate zone.  You'd presumably want to set it up so that it doesn't repeat unless the HR zone is entered afresh after a certain period of time, say 5 min, and again make that an option that people could customise.  Never mind the people wanting to monitor health conditions (and I know Fitbit doesn't care about that customer base), it will surely vary considerably for different sports.

Might be useful if instead FitBit could explain why this is NOT a feature they are particularly interested in providing to customers.  Seems a little odd that nothing has been mentioned for over 2 years.

An update on this would be good manners at the least.

Bunch of other trackers have this feature, I'm very disappointed that Fitbit doesn't care about it. This is very important function that just must to be. Fitbit can simply loose their customers, nothing changed since I've owned fitbit for about two years, nothing new, just changes in app design. That's kinda weird for the company implied as a leader.

I'm pretty sure they aren't gonna do anything:

AndreaS. and the Fitbit Team

Is this Suggestion not on the Ideas board (Feature Suggestions)? So why do we have to repost the idea?

Are you saying that your product development team did not see this suggestion for the last two years? It has nearly 2000 votes.

What are the new features that you have added in the last two years for the the fitbit surge?

Disappointed with Fitbit.

It's such a shame. As a very tiny person, my options are very limited. I *hoped* I'd found "the one". Sadly, it seems like it's been an ongoing request that's been overlooked for some reason.

A simple version could be just to set a max/min rate and, during a workout, it would start to buzz if you get above/below those values. At the same time, the display could come on automatically so you only need to look at it, not press the button.

Willian

Agreed!  It would be very useful if it would vibrate when we reach and go out of a targeted heart rate zone.  It would be even better if we could adjust the heart rates at which it would vibrate.
