Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

Zeebald, are you sure you’re wearing it properly? Other, more official, studies show these wrist worn HR trackers to be much more accurate than that. Of course there is more variance when the user is sweaty.

I'd love a tap, or by default, to show a graph of heart rate during the activity (often spin for me) as well as the alerts, so I can check my session performance as I go.

over 4.5k votes and been running for nearly a year..............proof that :-

I am going to change my Fitbit to another watch , like Apple watch, with option for heart rate notification, not look like Fitbit taking care of our questions. I can't see any improvement on the app in last year.

I would love to see a tracker that continuously monitors heart rate. I want to have a print out of it showing the day's rates for 24 hours. I have Atrial Fibulation (AFib) and need to know when my heart is racing, even in my sleep.

Some of us are older and although time in the peak zone is good, too much is bad.  It would be nice if we could set an alarm to tell us when we're pushing too hard.  A customization timer in the peak zone to let us know when we need to ease off a bit.

Sad to see this has been suggested since 2014 and is still not a feature... It would be great for many reasons already mentioned. Just wanted to add my support.

It would have been very smart to incorporate this feature in advance of the release of Apple Watch Series 4.

I think that feature would attract a whole other demographic to the watch and would be beneficial to the medical profession, as well, in monitoring their patients heart rates.

I would like to be able to configure my charge 2 so it will vibrate when My Max heart rate is reached.

Yes, that is so exciting! Fitbit needs to get with it.

I think it would be nice if fitbit devices could have something to help detect body temperature also maybe alert if temp goes above or below average. Since fitbit monitors heart rate how about an alert if is above or below average when resting.

Yes, I am still wating for this feature- Show heart rates as a percentage of MHR as shown on most other HRM like polar

I recently went to Orange Theory and they give out heart rate monitors that show your heart rate in a COLOR coded format. Obviously, "Orange" is the MAX target heart rate...it would be nice to be able to glance down and see my heart rate "color coded" so I know if I am in my MAX target heart rate to so I am getting the most out of my work out!

I added a similar recommendation under a different comment, but this appears to be a closely related feature.  As someone who suffers from migraines, there are times when having a high heart rate from exercise can trigger a migraine.  For example, I could go on a long walk and maintain a steady heart rate in the 120s and have no problem.  However, I could go for a jog and have my heart rate in the 140s and this will inevitably lead to a migraine. So here's my suggestion:

Add an alert when a selected heart rate is reached.  For example, I could select a heart rate of 135. When I reach that level, the screen would light up with the heart rate showing for a few seconds.  (Similar to when I reach my daily step goal.)

There would be two variations of this feature:

(1)  Minimum heart rate:  This would show heart rate when I want to maintain a heart rate above a minimum level, such as sustained aerobic activity.

(2)  Maximum heart rate:  This would show heart rate when I want to slow down when I reach a maximum level.  For example, if I reached a heart rate of 135, I would know that I would need to slow down and relax so I wouldn't trigger a migraine (or something worse.)

I'd appreciate feedback on this suggestion.

Hello Evansdad,

Thank you for your reply to my comment.
This sounds like a great suggestion.
I have read the manual as well as the Community forums and cannot figure
out how/where to set an alert on my Versa Fitbit.

Thanks!

A major Need for me, to help monitor irregular spikes in HR, due to unusual arrythmia and hypersensitivity to adrenaline.

In my case I have diabetes and during the night sometimes I have low sugar blood levels, and low sugar blood levels are linked to high heart rates, so with the alarm Fitbit it can wake me up when I have a low sugar level

As others are suggesting, just an optional alarm with low/high rates input introduced by the user will work

Another point is that there is NO other watch in the market that have that feature by now, and from my perspective it can save my life (but of course it concerns to my relatives and friends only, not other people in the planet ...)

I have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as well as Dysautonomia with heart rhythm issues. I, and hundreds of thousands of others I connect with ME/CFS and Dysautonomia must stay under certain heart rates to keep from having severe crashes and symptom increases. That being said, it would be of great service and help to us if we, Fitbit users (mine is a Charge 2, but others’ vary), had an alarm that alerted us when we got to the heart rate which we set, so that we can prevent such horrible relapses and days to weeks of recovery. Thank you!!!!
