Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

The Target HR is a great feature to have but right now it exist in theory only with the FItbit Charge HR. Although I can set a target HR for myself it has not practical application. It will be great if during my workout the Fitbit will vibrate to alert me when I go above or below the target. Please add this feature. The fitbit can already vibrate and the option to incorporate the target HR already exist. You need to write a few lines of code to incorporate and have these two features communicate. This will add a new dimension to the Fitbit Charge HR.

Love to see the heart rate feature added

It would be nice if my HR could shake if I exceed a certain high-intensity heart rate, which could be marketed as a safety feature. To expand on this, it might also give a different warning when you reach, or fall out of a target heart rate zone. For example, say I decide to stop running and walk for a while, but my heart rate falls out of cardio and into fat burn. A little shake tells me to get to stepping.

An alert at a HR you pre-set yourself would be useful for many reasons not least to let you know you are working hard during your activities. I would be wary of using is as a medical aid though.

My request is similar to the above - I would like to get a warning when my HR went outside a determined range - both above (slow down) and below (speed up) - so that I could keep within a target range during my run.

I have buyed my Charge HR to replace my polar watch that has a strapon with a bluethoot hart rate detector. So ITs a BIG Disapointment Not having the option to set 2 alarm 1 for the high and 1 for the low range hart rate, aerobic values like 45% - 85%.

This in terms of coding the software for the Charger hr is so simple, 5 lines of code 2 loops, and on the site its just 1 more dashboard with the 2 options!!!

For me it only makes sense to have a watch to control your hart rate during exercise if you can be warn in real time of the limits. Hope this can be take care of, because of the simplycitie to make it happen. Other wise i will have to sell it, because it cannot help peopel doing sports.

Thank you.

As a senior who has some issues with HR, I would be pleased to have the alert for "slow" or "fast" HR when exercising or during sleep. A vibration similar to the sleep alarm vibration in the Flex should be added to the Charge HR to alert us of possible health related HR issues.

A heart rate alarm would be great if it could be done with in the run setting.

I'd like to have an easy day and hard day for training based on my heart rate goal. Other running watches like garmin allow a hae setting with customizable HR range for the specific exercise and it notifies you when out of that range.  The fitbit is great because you don't need a chest strap, but it sucks to constantly look at my wrist to see if I am within my target heart rate.

This feature should be included in all Fitbit products with active heart monitoring, including Surge.

Please add this feature to Surge and other products with HR monitoring soon.

I thought heart rate alarms would be included when I purchased the Charge HR to help manage my ME/CFS after seeing it recommend on CFS forums. Please add this feature!

Great idea. I have a pacemaker and would like to be alerted when my heart rate exceeds a certain level

I would like to see heart beat alarm. One to where I can coustumize for myself. I have a heart blockage and would like to be able to set my fitbit charge hr heart rate monitor at 140 bpm. Once it reaches 140 it will alarm or viberate. This will be good for others that exercise and like to keep their heart rate at a certain rate. That way we wouldn't have to be looking at our fitbit to see if we have reached our goal or warning all the time.

I agree this would be a good feature to have on the Surge. This would give feedback real time when one reaches your heart rate limit.

I have a genetic disorder that makes it extremely dangerous for my heart rate to go over 140. I would love if my charge hr would give me a little buzz when I hit that limit!

I echo everyone's concerns and comments. Maybe it could be as simple as a firmware update on current charge hr devices?

This is the main feature that I am hunting for.  I will purchase a competors product for a heart rate alarm.  Seems to me this would be  a simple software update.

They could do this with a firmware update since they just put a new update out the other day with new features. I really need this so I don't have to keep checking my heartate on the watch to make sure I'm not going over my rate and hurting myself. Thanks

+1 please add this feature

I was expecting this feature to be a basic function of the Surge when I bought it.

I think heart rate alarm would be amazing! I current workout using the Maffetone method And I must stay in my max zone In order to burn more calories. Keeping your rate down with this slow pace is super hard to do. An alarm would be fantastic to keep me on pace!

Bearcat323. I must look up maffetone. Never heard it before! I have heart blockage and I like to get to 130 heart beats. But the medicine lowers heart beat.. I have to work hard to get it up!! Plus looking at my wrist! Lol

@Hea the Maffetone website is amazing! You'll learn that your heart rate don't need to be as high as you think!

It baffles me to understand how a device costing $250 with HR capabilities has not been designed to include a heart rate alarm. Personally, a HRM without the ability to set lower and upper rate thresholds with at least an audible alarm or preferably a vibrating alarm is utterly useless. Have you been interval training, sprinting up a sweat, constantly glancing at the display to check your heart rate because the audible alert is not loud enough to punch through the sound of your banging running tunes?

Do runners design these things or what?
