Heart rate zones alert feature

Many fitness enthusiasts and individuals of whom base their workouts on target heart rate zones would really appreciate a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic as well -if possible ALL Fitbit watches. This feature would allow a Fitbit user to manually set their Fitbit watch to alert the user once their targeted maximum and minimum heart rate has been achieved while performing a workout. Â The watch would vibrate on the user's wrist alerting the user when their selected heart rate has been accomplished or met allowing the user to more cater their workouts to stay within a selected threshold. Â Implementing this feature will also serve well as a safety feature which can alert the user when their calculated heartrate is dangerously high or above the maximum threshold that they set enabling the user to adjust their workout accordingly. Â Some Fitbit users I can imagine and many other individuals have cardiovascular/heart related issues which prevent them engaging in a workout that is too intense therefore a heart rate alert feature implemented into the new Fitbit Ionic would make the watch more marketable to the present customer base, a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts, and desirable to a whole new market of individuals of whom have cardiovascular/heart issues and will really appreciate a heartrate alert feature implemented into their fitness/activity trackers. Overall, implementing this feature will likely increase popularity of the watch, increase revenue, and appeal to a wider range of individuals that are taking steps to improve their health through daily workouts but are limited to what they can do due to cardiovascular/heart concerns. Â Implementing this feature can likely be as simple as have software engineering add it to a software/firmware update which will allow it to perform identical to the silent/vibrating alarm feature already included in most Fitbit watches anyhow.

the last one was sitting at my desk, 2:30 in afternoon.  no real physcal activity....

That type of reading at rest is cause for alarm....  not really trusting the HR.

@BocaBill I fine fitbit surge to be right on point with anything I have use it against. What device are you using. Sitting doing nothing anxious or stressed out could rocket your heart rate!

What that feature can be available?

This is very good feature to have even if the FitBit is not accurate. Given we have a baseline we learn from our day by day workout on what our limit should be I would love to be able to set my threshold limit and fell it vibrate and show my heartrate when I reach it.

You mean as opposed to having to guess without a device, or replacing it
with some contraption with wires? Better some sort of feedback than no
feedback. And high level alarms are not the only problem what about low
level alarms ?

New but easy to develop feature request:
While running it would be good to
have a vibration alert when I exercise not in between the defined heart beat zones... if you a running you cannot check the heart beat always on the screen..particularly wenn running on a forest floor I stumbled already 2 to 3 times.... thanks... please keep me informed whether you put this request in a firmware update...

That is the reason why I did not order the Surge yet.. if the heart beat alert is available I will buy the Surge directly.

Hello everyone. Its important to set up the device before using it correctly. Dominant or non Dominant hand is important. Mine does pretty well.

I could see this feature in good use. Maybe not alarm directly when it reaches X pulse. More like if it stays above this pulse for X amount of time to get the alarm running. ^^

@Ccjjdd Hey! That's a great idea because you could know when you've workout a lot and you've reached the max heart rate. I'll make sure to pass your request to my team.

Thanks for your suggestion in the Feature Request board.

I would like to see this kind of alarm anytime I'm in excercise mode.  This would be nice to tell me if I'm pushing myself too hard with weight excercises and would also work on the street and not just treadmill.

Actually I was more than a little put out when I discovered that this high-tech piece of kit doesn't have this simple function. Even my old heart rate tracker (which is 15 years old!) has this function with an audible alert. To me this is very crucial. If I overstep my bounds too long I end up paying dearly with weeks of having to drop training. So I really would appreciate this being implemented soon.

Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your idea @dhruv_shah! I think that this is a really nice idea, I think this could be very helpful to a lot of users. I'll make sure to pass this along to our team, thank you for participating in the Feature Request board. 🙂

Can a new Charge HR be updated to have heart rate threshold alarms be set? If not is this an option that is being looked at with the next software update? The ability to allow people to know they are either out of their zone while exercising is valuable.

Absolutely agree with the heart rate alarm. Great for aerobic training and a safety measure for those that should be concerned with higher BPMs.

To be able to set a heart rate alarm would make the Charge HR an exremely valuable tool for people with autism.  Giving them a discreet vibration when their heart rate reaches a set point will enable them to identify they are approaching a meltdown and that they need to take steps to try and calm themselves.  An audible alert would be valuable to teachers and parents/carers.  Just imagine the sales!

Having heartrate zone indicators is a high priority for me.  I hope it happens soon.

Hello,

This missing feature really surprised me. It just seemed so natutral to have it. I love my fibit, but having this would put make it truly interactive. Right now it just reports. If it were to listen to me and let me know things I want to know, then it's magic.

Thanks,

P.

As a senior runner I especially must monitor my heart rate both above and below my elected training ranges. Please consider adding these alarms to the Heart Rate functionality. This feature would make your product indispensable for folks who don't want to wear a chest band while training. Thank you.

I purchased my watch assuming that this would be an obviouse feature. My cheap-as HR watch did it. I'm really frustrated because this expensive watch is now useless to my needs.

Whilst exercising I would love to have a vibration when I enter a new heart rate zone. For example one buzz for a higher zone, two for when I drop a zone. This would be incredibly helpful whilst exercising to keep track of my intensity.

We shoud also note, this functionality is available in other heart rate monitors, namely TomTom's.  Is there any update on where this fits in with the goals of the development team?
