It seems like there's a reason NOT to implant this as simply a quick scan shows thousands of votes for this feature since mid 2013! As the silent alarm is there it can't be hard to do either. Yes, you have to consider: time limits for it, enable to shut it off/on and maybe make the interval selectable with a default.
I too agree this feature should be at least one of the key features that should be incorporated in the charge hr. At least the hardware is capable of doing this. I really hope this feature can be added in the next firmware update.
All Fitbit models should have this basic feature, it'll be just a catch-up vs other available trackers. I was very surprised not to see it in my surge Model, it can track and notify a lot but not this part of the basics....
This is really something that would motivate more people to want to buy FitBit especially when targeted at an elderly population. The subtle vibration would easily help to remind people to start moving again. This could easily be achieved by a software update measuring step counts.
So I want a feature where I don't have to set up an alarm to remind to get up. If it's possible to get a feature where Fitbit Charge HR or the app can remind me to get up and walk.
This is one feature that other fitness bands have adopted but Fitbit hasn't even though the request has been made since 2013. It's a very useful alert for people who work at desks to remind them to move about and be healthier, isn't that the point of having a fitness band in the first place? Fitbit doesn't seem to recognize this as an important feature to have. Since the Apple Watch is coming out tomorrow (and many others) and going to evolve very rapidly, I think Fitbit better step up their game if they don't want to go from being the best fitness band in the market (I still love and wear my fitbit force everyday even though it's been recalled)
I am wanting to buy a new fitbit, but I am uninterested of the notifications feature.....really....bcs I am a loner and I do not get so much calls. So yes, apple watch is going to catch you, guys! I am almost tempted to buy jawbone....but they do not have clock function....so .....BORING!
I don't understand why this is still not a thing, when it's been shown recently how dangerous sitting for prolonged periods is. Sitting is the new smoking. Every other tracker has it. It's the only thing standing in the way (or rather, sitting in the way, because it's not been reminded to stand) of me buying the HR.
Yes to this! I was surprised it was not included in a fitness watch. 45 minutes intervals are the optimum. There are studies that show that after sitting at a PC for 45 minutes the body requires movement, even walking around will do. Same goes for the eyes, staring at a screen for more than 10 minutes without a break will damage your eyes eventually.
Fitbit should serious consider implementing this feature as many of its competitor already have it. It's a good way to remind the users to be more active rather than being sedentary for too long. As this is just a simple firmware upgrade, by implementing this functionality not only benfits the users but Fitbit too.
there's a hell of a lot of interest in this idea - any comment from Fitbit developers as to whether it's something we can hope to see in the near future...?
It's so frustrating and ironic that activity tracker companies seem so completely lethargic. It's the same with Jawbone, which is the other option I'm considering, if I can actually get hold of one. "Yeah we'll release them to the rest of the world *yawn* Idunno... sometime. *shrug*"
It's like none of them can really be bothered and just want to get back to sleep.
From reading what the surge did before I got it I expected it to silently alarm me when I had been inactive for a certain amount of time set by me. I was extremely disappointed when it did not. But if you can set alarms for specific times of the day I don't see why it couldn't alarm after say 30 minutes of inactivity.
An idle alert would be an AMAZING feature and is clearly one that the FitBit users are crying out for. Hello FitBit! Listening to your consumers/supporter/aka people who spend too much money with you guys? I work freelance and when I work a lot I walk a lot. But when I'm off it's easy to get wrapped up in a 7 hour Netflix marathon and never move from the sofa. My JawBone Up24 reminded me to get up and it was wonderful! I bought a FitBit due to the 24hr HR tracking, but the second Jawbone has that I'm going back if some useful features aren't added (*cough*Health App integration*cough*).
Fitbit, Please make this your #1 priority of new features. This would be the most useful of all the features, and I was honestly quite shocked my Charge HR didn't have it! What better way to keep the user active?
So far so good with the fitbit charge. However really would love an update so the device can action idle alerts. Would be massively helpful especially working a desk job. Given that this seems to be standard in a lot of other brands the sooner the better. Come on fitbit listen to your customers.
