Do you have a link to a FitBit ad showing an idle alert? I have seen the ads for another tracker, probably a Garmin, with the person at a desk, getting an idle alert, but not a FitBit. Personally, I am not about to lose features that FitBit h as for me over this one feature. As a sentient, non-comatose being, I guess I can find ways to keep moving. And of course I would use idle alert if that feature is added.
When is there going to be a inactivity alarm..... I switch to HR charge from a old fashion up and it had that feature it is more requested on here why is Fitbit not responding?
Challenges with friends are very motivating but you need more different ones.
MrBreadWater, I know but it was more of a point that Apple has this function to get people moving who sit to long (such as myself who has an office job).
I was mearly pointing out thatthese passive promts throughout the day would remind me to take a 2 min break and get off my chair.
The idead (although in jest) was that we could have custom messgages - just like the custom message that appears when you unplug your FitBit HR.
A simple message such as (For example my name is Dimitri) "Time To Move Dimitri" or "Lets Do Some Steps".
I would love to be able to set up a reminder/notification if I'm inactive for a certain amount of time and my Charge vibrates with a message for me to get moving! I know of other pedometer bands that have that feature. It would be a great way to realize when you are sitting too much during the day. It would also be nice to be able to shut it on or off let's say if you know you'll be in a meeting where you are sitting for a couple of mins or hours
I'm puzzled why FitBit doesn't offer this option when there are so many other trackers offering movement reminders. Looking through the forums people have requested this for six+ months. I can't imagine what would prevent the app team from adding this to the development cycle. They already have a platform for silent notifications in place. On the website/in the app it would be a matter of increasing the number of notifications available and providing a drop down for type of notification (wake up, movement, etc.).
They only reason I can think that they won't add this feature is they want people to pay for it in the premium options.
I would really like to be able to have my fitbit HR either tell me (between certain hours) when I have not been active OR let me be able to do SIMPLE reminders on a daily basis rather than have to set an alarm for each time I want to be alerted.
Workout add-in's
Also, there should be a way to add in activity such as bike riding, tennis and workouts into your dashboard so those types of activities can be accounted for.
I too would love this. I sit at a desk 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Sometimes I'm so into what I'm doing I've actually missed lunch. I would to be able to set an alarm that reminds me to get up if only to stretch my legs and relieve my brain.
Yes, I'd vote for it too. All the hardware seems to be in place it just needs some firmware. I'd much rather have this than 'shake your wrist to see the time' (although that is neat too).
Yes -- I agree. I prefer the zip because I like that it is hidden in my bra rather than on my wrist where it would drive me crazy... but I would love a little buzz or beep when I have been sitting too long.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this feature!!!!!!
This is my BIGGEST complain of Charge and this is such a basic feature that I just assumed that my Charge HR would have and I was SHOCKED when I found out that it doesn't!!!!!!
Simply setting the interval & window of hours to activate idle elert (e.g. 8a-5p) would be perfect.
This certainly would be helpful - especially for those of us who have desk jobs and tend to get absorbed into big projects. It's not unusual for me to look up and realize I've been there for 4 hours...a buzz on my arm or hip would certainly catch my attention.
Would LOVE to have an "idle alert" in fact, needs to! LOL. My jawbone UP 24 did, and I LOVED that feature. Just got my Flex yesterday so I hope I love it as much as the UP. Although I am VERY dissatisfied to learn the Flex doesn't have that capability 😞
I too would love an idle reminder feature. You should be able to set a reoccuring silent reminder after every 15 minutes of idle time (or perhaps set your own length of time) as well as options to pause that feature during certain times of the day (e.g. sleep, watching a movie, etc). I would love this option to be available for all FitBit trackers, especially FitBit Flex.
Looks like this particular thread started in 2013 and it something users are still asking for almost two years later. It is also not the only community thread that is requesting this feature.
