This alarm should be a default feature in the fitbit. I consider it fundamental to helping me getting active. Hope you take our request into consideration ASAP
For the charger hr could we please have an inactivity alert with an option to toggle vibration on and off and it reads that I should be moving. So I can be more motivated when I'm sitting for a long period of time. A lot of other excersise bands have this, so I thought it would be the norm when I bough this.
Idle alert, please! I lose track of how much time I sit at my desk during work hours. My Up24 had an Idle Alert. The band would vibrate according to the time you had it set up (every 30 mins, 45 mins...etc) Please add this feature!!
My two cents to an endless discussion - if it's really a patent problem, why don't you develop a method based on mixed HR/accelerometer so that competitors can't say anything? 🙂
Yes please for idle alert! I just got my Surge. Spent ages trying to figure out where this setting was. No wonder i couldnt find it, its not included. Very surprised Fitbit overlooked this. Hopefully they'll add this real soon. For now will have to try 3rd party. http://www.fitminder.io/
I'm a little disappointed that there is not even a reply. I was just told that this is the best place to make suggestions. If they are not answered how is it the best way? Even if you're not interested in the idea at least reply.
Kath: Hello Hayley, my name is Kathyrine. How can I help you? You: Hi, I was wondering if there will ever be an 'idle alert' implemented for the fitbit charge HR? I know there are lots of requests on the user forum Kath: I'd be happy to assist you with this. You: Like the jawbone up that vibrates if you've been sat for too long Kath: I see. Your feedback is highly appreciated. Kath: Rest assured that it will be heard and will not be taken for granted. I will going to pass it along to our product development team for future improvement. You: I have found a third party tool that will send me an sms if I'm sat for too long, but it has an annual subscription, I don't want to pay for the year to find fitbit implement an idle alert in the next couple of months You: Do you know whether it is being looked at already? Kath: As of this moment, there is no updates yet regarding about idle alert. Kath: But we will let you know once we have updates and changes about that. Kath: Also the best place to make your voice heard is the Ideas board on our community (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/idb-p/features) . Kath: Our product development teams consult regularly to ensure we're delivering on what our customers need and want. Please take a moment to visit and give us your feedback. Kath: Are you still there? You: THanks Kath: You're most welcome. Is there anything else that I can assist you with? You: That link doesn't work? Kath: Please try this one https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/idb-p/features . You: I have already posted in this forum: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Idle-Alert/idi-p/811/page/23#comments There are a number of comments for this (552), if the dev team are in fact reading it, it might be an idea to respond as people are starting to sound quite disgruntled at the lack of a reply. Kath: I apologize for the inconvenience. Our product team looks forward to reading and incorporating your suggestions into future versions of Fitbit trackers and apps. You: There's no inconvenience, I'm just suggesting that they reply as your customers are starting to sound annoyed Kath: That is why the tracker and application always have an update it is because of the numerous requests from our customers. You: So will someone from fitbit every reply within the forum? Kath: Yes Hayley, there are specialist who are checking the forums and looking for the requests. And they have a long process for such updates. Kath: No worries, rest assured that I will take note of this case.
What barrier is stopping them from implimenting this feature.
is it patents, hardware limitation, poor customer awarness, a slow development team? how often do they roll out new features/updates?
I would buy a vivofit (for the idle feature alone) if it werent for the fact that my family and friends use fitbit and I really like the applications/UI.
Im considering signing up for "fitminder" $10 anually after I finish setting up my new Charge HR
Wow, thanks for the details of Fitminder Daniel - this is a great, simple service that does just what Fitbit should be doing; well done to Matt for being enterprising and filling a gap in their service (for which $10pa is a small price).
While fit minder is a great thing...... you have to have you phone on inorder for it to work or at least vibrate or ring..... some of us at work can not have that...... when is fit bit going to respond to the people............... so sorry I went to fit bit should have just upgraded my UP since even the older models had this............. and the above responds from fit bit is a blow off.............
I worry that this workaround, unworkable if you are not married to a smartphone, will make FitBit even less responsive to requests that the just implement this feature.
Forgive me but that chat log sounds like fitbit uses a bot rather than a live human. Half the responses sound like they're not even reading what they're supposedly responses to, and they're all just scripted copy/paste.
I don't seem to understand why this feature hasn't been implemented. I mean if they can implement the smart alarms I don't see where it wouldn't be that hard to implied that an idle reminder
Yes, please add this feature. I love my Charge HR, but just bought a Garmin for someone else becuase of the feature. Between this and getting text alerts, I'm about to switch to something else like the Garmin Vivosmart or a Microsoft Band. However, if you add this feature, I won't switch (and won't buy any more Garmin's for other people).
Microsoft Band on sale at Best Buy now for $100. Get this feature AND text alerts for $50 less. Bummed I didn't wait a little longer before buying this fancy pedometer. Don't be arrogant fitbit or you'll find yourself as the next Blockbuster Video.
I would like to throw in my request as well for a "Idle alert"!
The manager at the store my boyfriend bought my Charge(birthday gift) at said it did have an alert. We were both dissappointed to find it did not considering it as a main feature I was hoping for in a fitness tracker. I'm vet student who spends an enormous amount of time hunched over studying(and facing the back issues from it) and my chiropractor wants me to start getting up and moving every hour to loosen my back. However, I have a tendency to get lost in my work and look up 3 hours after my last break and relize I've not moved. Therefore, I was hoping the Charge would have a little alert on it to break my concentration enough to take my butt for a walk around the library. PLEASE MAKE AN IDLE ALERT!!! Thank you 🙂
I also find this unbelievable that such a basic feature as idle alert does not exist, and that so many people have requested this since 2013!
I'm new to Fitbit but this and basic iOS Health integration makes this product line disappointing and finds me looking to other brands already to meet basic requirements?!?!?!?!
