Increase or customize hourly activity goal from 250 steps/hour

It would be really cool to have the option to increase the reminder to move minimum count.  Currently, the reminder to move is set to 250 and I would really like the option of raising that number as my activity increases.

Imho, this is minor. Would you please make the hourly step goal of 250 steps adjustable?  I love having the reminder, but I want to increase my hourly goal. And then adjust it again, and again, and again...

Please make it to where we can edit the hourly steps goal. I would like to have 500 steps instead of 250!!

Just purchased a charge 2. Would like to see the ability to increase the reminder to move number of steps from 250.

I saw where Fitbit responders say that you do not plan to do the suggestion requested to permit changing the Reminders to Move so that we can:

1) adjust the 250 steps per hour default to more steps as we are able and

2) to change when the reminders occur to accommodate our progress as well as our daily schedules.

I OBJECT. I am willing to do the work and do not expect the device to be my mommy. However, I am another person with a schedule that doesn't accommodate 10 minutes before the hour every hour and who would like to increase the per hour steps because I am busy working while walking and not just stepping and counting. (I work online and my clients are in time zones around the world.) I see an awful lot of answers to community questions that advise work-arounds instead of fixes. It would seem that customization options would be a goal of Fitbit.  Marketwise, it seems smarter to prioritize your functionality ahead of competitors' or set customizability over look and style elements.

To whom do we make an appeal of this decision?

For just a little extra challenge, could you give users the option to increase the reminders to move amount(250 steps) to say 500 steps.

It would be good for

people simply looking for an extra challenge.

250 steps per hour is not for everyone. So many other exercises and goals have user accessible settings, why not hourly step count goal?

I’d like to be able to increase the hourly step goal to be above the current 250 please!

Hi @Carine11 thank you for your comment. I merged it here, since we already have an existing feature suggestion regarding this topic. At this moment this feature is not planned.

Can the 250 hourly step goal be changed to where we can create our own hourly step goal? Or at least show how many steps you’ve taken each hour instead of a flashing dot when you reach 250? I would like to be able to set it to 1000 an hour or something like that.

Hi everyone thanks for sharing this suggestion. This is being discussed although I do not have a firm commitment or timeline at the moment. Do continue to vote for this feature suggestion whilst it’s under consideration.

Please note that if something is under consideration and chosen for development, it can be a while until it's released or until I have any news to share. Please watch this space for any updates! Thanks for your patience.

It would also be cool to be able change the hourly goal to calories burned or active minutes. I don't have a lot of space around my work place to walk and i have old injuries in both feet, but i think some push-ups would be just as beneficial.

Hope this happens! Will watch for updates!!!

The Fitbit Charge 2 has been an excellent way of keeping my wife motivated to do her best given her MS. We've brought the 10,000 steps down to 2,000. The 250 steps on hour is not achievable and kinda demoralizing. Can an update be made.

I too would like to make that change- i don want to change the amount of hours just that minimum number of steps

I would love to start increasing my hourly steps and know if I hit my target. So a variable setting beyond 250 would be great! I have an Alta HR.

I would love a way to up my hourly step goal from 250.  I have researched and found there isn't a way to do this yet.  I think as a whole that it would help people (especially those in an office setting) to shoot for a higher goal per hour as 250 steps is not that much, given everyone's average daily goals.

Thanks!

I agree this needs to be an option as 250 steps is not enough for those of us that are trying to step up our game.  Please add this update.

A static 250 doesn't really make sense, especially since I've set my step
goal for the day. I would suggest a dynamic goal based on the following
formula:

Steps to goal/hours remaining

If I've set my goal for 10,000 steps and I've set 7am to 10pm as my hours,
my goal should be 667 steps per hour, not 250.

10,000 steps / 15 hours = 667 steps/hour

If I do 3,000 steps from 7am - 8am (let's just pretend I hopped on a
treadmill), then my new hourly goal would be:

7,000 steps / 14 hours = 500 steps/hour

Set the minimum to be 200 steps/hour so even if I've met my goal by 7pm, it
will still encourage me to keep moving.

I am fine with the 250 step per hour, as the whole idea is that at some point every hour you should get up and move. My complaint is that in the two years or so this goal has been available, I have achieved my goal maybe 2 or 3 times.

In my case, I have it set from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm. To achieve this goal, I have to walk 250 steps EVERY hour during the 14 hour period.

To me, a more effective goal would be that I want to walk at least 250 steps in an hour, for 14 hours during the 24 hour day.

So if I walk 250 steps between 6:00 am to 7:00 am, it goes towards my goal, and if I happen to be watching a movie from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, it doesn’t destroy any chance of hitting my 14 hour goal for the day.

I would modify your steps from 8 AM to an earlier evening point. That way,
you will reach the one goal without being disappointed with the overall
hourly goal. Mine is 8 AM to 5 PM which allows me to wind down my day and
I still have time to reach both goals.

No, my frustration is the consecutive hour aspect. If I set my 250-steps-per-hour goal to end at an earlier hour, I don’t hit the goal if I were to watch a movie from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Given that I walk 8-10 miles per day, my guess is that almost every day I have 14 hours of walking at least 250 steps....but in terms of consecutive hours, as I mentioned, it’s happened a few times.
Zona85635

I walk at 8:55 - 9:05 and I have meet my goal of about 800 steps during
that 10 minutes. Then I walk again 10:55 - 11:05 and that give me an hour
and 50 minutes before I have to walk again Maybe that would work for you.
