Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Hey Fitbit please let us sync to Apple health. That would be great.

It would be so much easier than using a third party app to sync with it.

Hey Fitbit, are you listening? I see that this thread started back in mid 2014... with open APIs for various health tracking apps on mobile devices, this is something that should have been addressed by now... At this writing there are 3,129 up votes on this request and I am sure that is a small percentage of people who would like to see this functionality!

I purchased a Fitbit Charge HR last night, I was going back and forth between Fitbit and Garmin, I decided on the Fitbit because of the price (I got a good price through a retailer price matching their own website) and even more importantly, because my sister owns a Fitbit and had good things to say about the customer service. With that said, had I known that Fitbit doesn't integrate with the Health app on my iPhone I probably would have given the Garmin more consideration. (I'd feel the same way if I were an Android user since it doesn't integrate with their version of the health tracking app, or it didn't at some point during the life of this thread.)

PLEASE Fitbit, would you more seriously look into integrating with the Health app on the iOS! This integration wouldn't harm your brand or your sales, as a matter of fact, it would potentially help sell even more Fitbit devices.

I just got into the 21st century with a fitness tracker, now would you get into the 21st century and support ALL mobile OS versions of the various health tracking apps? (Not meaning to sound like a jerk, but it isn't something that makes sense when there are so many other fitness tracking companies that are smaller than Fitbit that do, and it would be an extension of your customer service.)

Thank You!

+1 to integration with HealthKit

The problem is that fitbit will have entered into a contract with microsoft
that stops then working with their 2 competition.
Notice how fitbit works with loads of small company's but not apple or
Google

The lack of HealthKit integration is the one and only reason why I'm considering the AppleWatch. Even though I'm a huge Apple fan and own a lot of Apple products but I've also had a Fitbit for almost 3 years. I personally believe the AppleWatch too expensive, too large and trying to do too many things. On the flip side I prefer the Health app's dashboard display of information. I can't think of a valid reason why Fitbit would not port the data over and be content with pushing their hardware which is at a more reasonable pricepoint yet still delivers the same functionality. It's been almost two years since HealthKit has been around so I still don't get why this isn't done.

Isn't it sad that FitBit pay absolutely no attention to the requests of their user base. After more than two years of requests and over 3500 comments along the same lines they still continue to ignore us. Think I'll use my HR until it breaks and then go where the developers are way more responsive!

I just don't understand why they are so hesitant. It seems obvious to me that if they coded this as a premium feature, people would buy a tracker AND a premium account in order to be able to sync with Apple Health and/or Google Fit (and others). I certainly would. Not integrating just seems to be losing them goodwill AND potentially leaving money on the table. If I was a product manager at FitBit I'd be tearing my hair out about this.

Agreed. They seem happy to ignore the fact that people want their data in one place not scattered across multiple systems.

Yes, that'll be awesome, I hope Apple doesn't put brakes on this treating Fitbit as the rivalry to their health apps/watch 😀!
But that'll be cool to see my Fitbit data in Apple health!

I agree!  The Apple Health App has been around since 2014.  It's time for Fitbit to join!

I concur. Would be awesome integration.

I concur with the above statements. Currently Health is not as accutate and the difference is confounding when I happen to not have fitbit with me.

Seriously...has this not been done yet? This is crazy! A $24 Misfit Flash can connect...why not Fitbit?
This makes no sense!

My reason for wanting this feature is that I want to be able to see all my fitness/health data in one location.

That location used to be Fitbit app but after switching from a One to a Flex (not happy with Flex), multiple problems with syncing workouts and water consumption (entered in the app, not uploaded to dashboard) and a ridiculous amount of time spent attempting to fix the syncing problems per the posted support notes, I gave up and bought a Misfit.  The tracking is comparable to the One, and most important, the app syncs to Apple Health so once again, I can view all my information in one place. (Yay!!!)

I used SyncSolver to get my old data - I've been using Fitbit since August 2013 and have 9.8 million steps.  With SyncSolver, I might still use my Flex now and then but only with a ribbon wrist band because the Flex band is irritating.  I don't expect to ever buy another Fitbit.

I also downloaded all my data to csv's which had to be done month by month via an interface that is clearly designed to make this as painful as possible. I spent most of Sunday afternoon on that activity which didn't improve the situation, especially since I was looking at the support page's claim of 'You own your data.'

As long as Fitbit refuse to integrate, I'm concerned that I could lose the data I've generated and tracked, and that is a serious demotivator.

Disappointed new HR user. I wouldn't have bought this had I read up more and noticed it didn't have Health support.  I don't care what new things you are promising, I want seamless functionality with what I already have.

Let's forget about integration with Apple Health, what about Pokemon Go?

I've just received a new blaze and cannot believe there is no integration with HealthKit. I'm returning it for an Apple Watch.

ChrisJM,

I don't know if you returned the blaze yet, wait for AW2 to come out. It's suppose to be better with some new features

I’ve had the Apple Watch for one year now. I’ve switched due to Fitbit’s inaction to integrate with HeathKit. It’s the one and only device that I now wear consistently. My old Fitbits are sitting in a box waiting to be dissected and experimented with. I’ll probably also strap them on pets and update that data to Fitbit’s server.

After a year with the Apple Watch, I’m extremely happy with it. All info related to steps, pace, distance, time, heart rate, calories (active and inactive) is all available at a glance. Your daily data is viewable from the watch itself (via its native ‘Activity’ app). Integration with the iPhone’s HealthKit database is seamless. You don’t ever need to sync consciously or manually. It just happens on its own.

Your health and fitness data collected from the Watch over time can be reviewed via the iPhone’s native ‘Health’ app. It’s dashboard is highly customizable allowing you to view summaries on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. Since all the data is in your iPhone, you don’t need to login to any third party server to view your OWN data. You decide which service can access YOUR data (e.g. Runtastic, Strava, MyFitnessPal, etc.) as opposed to having Fitbit dictate to you how YOUR data should be accessed.

And those are just the basic native apps that come with the Apple Watch and iPhone. Depending on your needs, there are many other apps available (coaching, sleep tracking, pretty dashboards to visualize your data, etc.) that should satisfy any specific need that you may have.

Aside from basic health data, the Apple Watch of course is a watch - has very useful chronographs, timers, alarms, and world time which I use on a regular basis. Notifications are superb and very customizable (e.g emails, calls, scheduling… you choose).

It’ll be interesting to see how Apple Watch 2 will evolve from an already super useful first set of features. Yes, you do get what you pay for: a superb piece of hardware that comfortably sits on your wrist, backed by well written software, supported by a company that cares and listens to its customers.

Another note is durability. After wearing the Apple Watch following a hard workout, I can actually wash my Apple Watch under running tap water to wash away the sweat and sunblock. Let’s see how long the Charge, Blaze, Flex, or any Fitbit will last under frequent tap water washing. Would any current Fitbit users care / dare to try?

Once you get the Apple Watch, you’ll never look back. In a way, I’m thankful that Fitbit has not integrated. Otherwise, I would not have considered switching to the Apple Watch and would have continued to be deceived and locked into their closed ecosystem. So the earlier you can let go, the better off you’ll be from Fitbit having a stranglehold over YOUR fitness data.

Any app which has full exercise information transfer would be fab! MFP great for steps but workouts are not transferred from Fitbit to MFP only the other way round apparently! That kind of defeats the object of having a Fitbit! Endomondo only transfers out and only workouts with GPS info can be imported in. Apple only steps using another app! Aghhhhhh!!!

Now, it's 2016.5 and iOS has moved on beyond 8 to 9.xx. Fitbit APP is now of the Dark Ages and as such refuses to come into the modern era. Apple Watch will replace this Flex. Just need this replacement to die!
