Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Based on this policy, they can sell your identifiable personal information should they go bankrupt, or merge the company.

DATA THAT COULD IDENTIFY YOU

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is data that includes a personal identifier like your name, email or address, or data that could reasonably be linked back to you. We will only share this data under the following circumstances:

  • With companies that are contractually engaged in providing us with services, such as order fulfillment, email management and credit card processing. These companies are obligated by contract to safeguard any PII they receive from us.
  • If we believe that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, valid legal process (e.g., subpoenas or warrants served on us), or governmental or regulatory request, to enforce or apply the Terms of Service or Terms of Sale, to protect the security or integrity of the Fitbit Service, and/or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Fitbit, its employees, users, or others. If we are going to release your data, we will do our best to provide you with notice in advance by email, unless we are prohibited by law from doing so.
  • We may disclose or transfer your PII in connection with the sale, merger, bankruptcy, sale of assets or reorganization of our company. We will notify you if a different company will receive your PII and the promises in this Privacy Policy will apply to your data as transferred to the new entity.

I find this statement kind of worrisome.

When we provide this information, we perform appropriate procedures so that the data does not identify you and we contractually prohibit recipients of the data from re-identifying it back to you.

If they sell aggregate data only that is not identifiable, then why do they contractually prohibit recipients of the data from re-identifying data back to you?  If it's just data with no information about the person then there would be no way that anyone could figure out who you are, and therefore there would be no need to have a contract. Sounds suspicious to me.

Totally needed integration , at least to apple data, better two way synch .

I use other application for tracking blood sugar wich reads from iphone some data to make a comprenhensive day to day data of fitness , food , blood sugar, sleeping patern .  Having the data from Fitbit would totally complete my daily goals and long term health

Please allow steps, workouts, and heart rate iniformation to transfer from my apple watch to the fitbit app.  I use both an apple watch and fitbit devices.  However, there are times when I only wear my apple watch.   I would pay a small monthly fee for this option.

+1 from here

Yes! please please please! I have my apple watch on me way more often than my phone so it would be great if the data that my watch collects synced with my fitbit app when it syncs with my phone. I want to use the fitbit app for more a lifestyle guide but most of the counts are off since this data doesn't all sync with each other 😞

I agree with these comments. I would greatly like to see the Fitbit app and Health app integrate, so that I can get a more holistic view of my health. This kind of integration would encourage me to continue using Fitbit, rather than switching to a different brand of fitness tracker (one that does integrate data with the iOS Health app).

I would like to integrate with my Apple Watch as well. I have many fitbits in my family 8 to be exact and two apple watches. We all like to use our Fitbit app and like doing challenges and goals. But now with the Apple Watch I can no longer participate because when I wear my Apple Watch I do not get any sync to my Fitbit app. It is making us have to choose between the two and we like both let us use both. It is truly unfair and poor business model to limit this functionality especially if you own both devices. I would say charge for the app if you want because I would also not mind paying a fee if I could use both devices. Make a smart decision because if you had all the Apple Watch users you would make more money. And let's face it your app is better...for now so take advantage while you can. When it comes down to it this may make my whole family change to the Apple Watch just because of the poor decision to not sync both making it a bad business to work with, Fitbit seems to be acting badly in this regard.

I also would like to sync my fitbit data with apple health app.  I believe that if this isnt done soon the apple community will leave the fitbit group to its predicted failure!  Why is fitbit in a war with Apple?

I understand you want to sell fitbit devices. So from a business perspective it's no use to support the apple watch. From a social perspective it would be great to welcome the apple watch community into fitbit. The product is not very competitive regarding price. And you won't keep people from buying an apple watch. maybe you can earn some money out of a subscription? I saw people are willing to pay for this.

With so many people asking for integration with Apple Health, and just about every other tracker on the planet doing so, why is Fitbit holding out?  I have had a Fitbit One for some years now and am looking to replace it.  I use Apple Watch for activity tracking but the Fitbit for sleep tracking and stairs climbed as the Watch does not so this (and needs charging overnight).  I have looked at other products and still think the fitbit is way ahead of the others, but will not buy one unless it has the Apple Health integration.  Surely Fitbit must realise it is losing out to the competition  by not having this feature?  It seems to be stubbornness on the part of Fitbit, not anything else that is stopping them.  Can't make good commercial sense.

I just buy a US 30dlls scale that integrate with Apple Health Kit sharing Body weight, Body fat, water, Muscle mass, BMI, BMR, Bone mass and visceral fat information. I think should be amazing to add the info from my Charge 2 to have a better picture of my health progress not in just one way but the Fitbit app could be better if it have all the info from my smart scale at hand.

fitbit, as far as I can tell doesn't want to encourage us to use competitor's hardware.

I understand that.

There is a work around.

Get Workflow and IfTTT.

Then make a recipe that reads your HealthKit data with workflow and saves it to Fitbit with IFTTT.

After all all that you only need to hit one button to run it.

Years pass without integration....

considering a move to compatible device, such as Jawbone or Nike.

It is now the end of 2016 and this has not happened yet. Why? There is no good reason for this. Fitbit, this is going to be the single reason you lose a long-term user in favor of the all-too expensive Apple Watch.

DO NOT get a Jawbone unless you want to replace it every 3 months. I just went through that with them. Great device, poor durability. The first time it was replaced no issues. The second it tore they requested proof of purchase which I didn't have since I didn't save it and they wouldn't do anything for me. Hence I'm here now.

I've had a Jawbone Move and a Jawbone Up2 and I've had problems with neither. I started with the move which I got cheap at Costco and moved up to the Jawbone 2 so that I could use the purple Up app instead of the blue Up app. My biggest concern with Jawbone has been whether they have the funding to keep making them. To be honest, Jawbone's quality seems the same as Fitbit. My recommendation would be an Apple Watch. I had a series 1 and I upgraded to series 2. I use it all the time for notifications and with Siri. Series 2 has almost doubled the battery life I get out of it although granted, I still have to charge it every two days instead of daily.

Hi
Yes, I already have an Apple Watch. Great, but you can’t do sleep tracking with it and it needs charging up overnight. Fitbit is great for sleep tracking. Also it counts flights climbed which Watch also doesn’t do. I REALLY need Fitbit to get up to spped on this and provide the integration that hundreds of users want. How many others have been put off and bought something else? I’ve looked at lots of alternatives and am currently looking at the Withings Pulse.

It is about to be 2017, how has this not happened yet!?!?!?!? I don't want to have 30 apps that do the same thing, I want the FitBit app and the Health app to talk to eachother and that's all I want!
