Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Clearly with 2 years having passed, we're going about this the wrong way. Since you have no desire to please your customers, let me try this .... DON'T, I'm begging you, DON'T integrate with Apple Health.

I got an Apple Watch for Christmas and as much as I love it, I really miss the Fitbit community. I have an idea though! I think it would be really cool if Fitbit came out with a paid app that can be used on the Apple Watch itself. That way people can still be connected to the community but use the tracker of their choice.

I actually used the Fitbit app for free and that worked with the iPhone step counter.   Going that route, I can use the Fitbit community and app for free. I planned on getting a charge2 but no reason to if the sync won't work the other way.

Well, after more research and as it appears this will never happen I will be returning my Fitbit within 2 weeks of its purchase. It just doesn't make sense to keep using it if it will never sync the way I want. I'd rather go back to loosing weight the old fashion way and keeping myself accountable without technology.

Fitbit I doubt you read these anymore, but this has got to be the most stupid thing a company has ever done in the history of the planet. So so many people asking and you cannot even formulate a response or update? At least come forward and say it will never happen. 🙄

Like so many others after years as an iOS user being a ignored, strung along and basically lied to by this company I have no interest in ever buying another product from them.

I only wish when I bought my first Fitbit charge HR I had done more research other than buying into the misinformation on their packaging that stated this product is iOS compatible which they slyly use as a way to say we have an iOS app dashboard but it's not truly iOS compatible because it does not integrate with apple's HealthKit which is the most important part of my overall health data management.

I only wish I saved the $150 I initially spent on my first and only Fitbit and put it towards the Apple Watch that I just purchased in the last few weeks for myself. While I realize Apple Watch is more expensive and not a financial option for many people I believe it's worth saving up for or considering other products from other manufacturers who aren't more interested in mining your health data to make money off of you as opposed to giving you the integration you need and want and have asked for on this thread for years to integrate with HealthKit.

And clearly Apple's recent change in policy about not allowing third-party product developers to make money off of people's HealthKit/health data is obviously another reason why Fitbit has no intention of ever linking to HealthKit it because they would never give up their lucrative moneymaking prospects of selling all of our health data to make money. Screw you.

Like several other people on this thread have posted recently, I stayed on this thread just to see what might happen but it makes me sad and I feel bad for all the people that are newcomers who are being duped by this unscrupulous company directing people to the stupid thread that was started over 2 years ago with iOS 8 and still gives no indication of ever giving iOS users what we've been screaming for.

I just happily erased several apps that I paid money for including sync solver as well as all traces of anything Fitbit from my iPhone.

Like pretty much all iOS users, I love apple's transparent integration and I love my new Apple Watch! I can only suggest to anyone else on this thread, if you received the Fitbit product for a Christmas gift, or were duped into believing it with synchronize with all aspects of your iOS device like I was initially, return it take the money and put it towards an Apple Watch or anything that will give you the synchronization with health kit that you need and desire.

I wish everyone on here well but I can no longer keep getting these ridiculous email updates flooding my box with user after new user begging a company for something as simple as integration of course, since it works affect their bottom line it's never going to happen, that's just my opinion.

We are an Apple family and bought Aria to bring weight and BMI into our IOS health app. What careless research on my part but really Fitbit? I understand building brand advantage but as so many others here have said, we live in an integrated world. Customers like me expect things to work together seamlessly in this internet of things. You create beautiful products and lock them down. Should I try to return my Aria and go to more enlightened providers like Cardio? I don't want to. Our black Aria scales are beautiful but I have bought carelessly and now stare into a critical hole. Have you any reassurance that there can be hope in the near future? Or do they have to go back? Please surprise me Fitbit!

I purchased the SyncSolver App which has helped me get most of the data into Apple's HealthKit.  I say most, because Fitbit's active calorie data can not be synced.  Even more anger on my part as that's the most important data to me.  Still I am able to get everything else, including weight and bodyfat percentage from my Aria scales into the HealthKit App.

@SteveHeappey

iHealthLabs makes a number of HealthKit compatible scales. Some even track more info than the aria.

I have just emailed James Park alerting him to this thread so that he may hear our voices.  Hopefully he will honor us with a response.

I've sent this post twice now, I think I'm being purposely NOT allowed to express my opinion by moderators. Let's see if this shows up in this thread...

Ditto ... seriously ... how long do we need to wait for iOS health kit integration? All my other wearables already do

Jhamann - Are you saying James Park won't respond from his personal communication history?  Or are you lumping him in with CEOs in general?  If the former, then we'll wait and see.  If the latter, I have had multiple CEOs respond to my emails. Sometimes it's better to take it to a VP than a CEO for that very reason.  It really depends on how inundated with email the CEO really is, and also how you formulate the message.  As a Senior Network Engineer, I can tell you they absolutely check their email.  They live by it.  Sometimes it just takes them a while to get it, or it gets flagged as spam becuase for some strange reason CEOs tend to get a TON of spam.

I sent an email to James Park addressing this subject several months ago

and received no reply.  It appears that they simply do not care.

I don't understand why Fitbit are being so stubborn. Almost 3 years since this request has been made, and it is still under consideration. Every fitness tracker under the moon has been fully integrated with Apple Health and Fitbit is still debating it!

I used to have Basis until they recalled it for safety issues. Although they initially resisted the integration with Apple Health, they eventually listened to their customers' demand.

I want to see all my health data in one place. Fitbit provides fitness data in Fitbit alone. It needs to be open and exportable to other systems. For me, that's Apple health where I can see fitness, lab results etc all in one place over time.

I agree with this, espically since before I bought a Fitbit I primarily used the health app for my daily steps.

I was going to try to work Fitbit and Apple Watch into a daily plan with the charge hr for sleep and workouts and the Apple Watch for business hours (for the notifications). It seems that without fitbit/HealthKit Intergration  I might as well just have a day Apple Watch and a night Apple Watch. That way I get my sleep tracking, exercise tracking and 24hr heart rate tracking. Or Fitbit could add HealthKit intergration.... which do you think will happen first?

@Arthur_Dent My Apple Watch Series 2 lasts two days easily. Granted it is not as long as a Fitbit, but it allows me to wear it at night and then charge it when I'm in the shower or sitting at my desk.

I found with my new Apple Watch 2 the battery life is far better than I imagined it would be and honestly as my Fitbit Charge HR got older it wasn't a lasting more than a day or two anyway. And I have also downloaded a sleep app, AutoSleep and it's companion heart rate monitor HeartWatch that works with Apple Watch. while I'm still tweaking it at least it's allowing me to just use the one device and have everything in healthcare easily without any kludgy third-party work arounds that don't send all the data to HealthKit automatically and without having to wear two devices.
