Let us delete in-app notifications/messages

This is clogging up my iphone. I have a year or more worth of useless Fitbit notification messages I'd like to shed. I saw a 'solved' notice in here from a year ago stating it was resolved by stating there is no solution. This is simply ignoring the myriads of request/votes of customer requests/concerns to fix it. Fitbit should have had a REAL solution by now and apparently do not. In reality this problem has not been resolved but simply is being ignored by the company/moderator. The solution 'solved' to put a vote in ideas does not address the real concern or issue at hand. What's the point of a community forum if Fitbit does not listen to its customers? The thread should have flagged Fitbit/moderator to produce a real fix, we're still waiting.

I finally gave up and completely deleted the entire app! I then installed the app again. Now they will fill up the phone again. The only issue is that some of the information I was interested in (heart rate and sleep) keeping is gone. They need to hire a software developer who knows how to write a program that will let the clients delete anything they don’t want to keep. When this Charge 2 dies I won’t be buying any more from Fitbit.

But our moderator, Liz does not agree with us!

Same here, if I decide to get another device it will be an Apple Watch or anything other than a Fitbit. You can stop notifications from coming by turning them off on the website.

Hi Fitbit

since i have been a Fitbit user, i have noticed when i receive messages they stay in my inbox for 30 days. i tried to delete them manually but  found out this was not possible. i think it would be a great idea if you came together and included a message delete button so we can pick and choose what messages to keep/delete.

thanks!

And guess what! Many of us FitBit users have been trying to get that capability and ALL our requests ARE never addressed! I have NEVER experience such disgusting company that does not care a bit about their customers!

Preaching to the choir! I've been complaining about this for over a year. Liz(the moderator for this) has said they are only considering deleting messages and not notifications! Today was the very 1st complaint about deleting messages.

Would like to be able to delete notifications or at least have them disappear after 1 week! 100 is excessive! Please and thanks!!!

We’ve been trying for over a year with no luck. But can turn them off via your account on the web browser. Go to gear icon in top right hand corner, open this scroll down to notifications, open and turn off what you want. I have not received a notification since I did this in November. However all of them prior to that won’t go away. The worst of it is, some people have written that their notifications are gone.... so Fitbit can do so selectively!

I end d up just switching off notifications. I’d still lie to delete the ones already on there.

I'm using Flex2. I have 6 months obsolete notifications & consequently on iPhone & consequently no longer receive new ones. How do I delete these outdated items that are clogging my phone?

Can't, we've been trying to get Fitbit to allow deletions since 2/27/17 and so far the answer has been a resounding no. You can turn them off on your Fitbit account via the web and not the app. But if you can't receive any more because the iPhone is full it doesn't matter.

I completely agree that not being able to purge old messages is frustrating.  At the very least there should be a regular and reliable purge interval preferably set by the user.  This is a basic function that virtually all apps have.

The moderator claims this is only for messages deletion.  I think the moderator needs to reread posts.  Clearly the notifications are what most people are complaining about.  FitBit is neither responsive nor understanding of its user community needs.  Might be time for a different product.

But not Fitbit! And they flat out refuse to listen to us.

If you are new to FitBit you will find that this company does NOT car a bit about US their customers!

I can’t wait until my FitBit “bites the dust” so I can buy a new Apple Watch or any other product made by a company that truly cares for its customers!

Sad!!

Deleting these would be wonderful but it would be even more useful to have them autodelete in a user selectable automated way based on time; weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly or never.  Automation convenience and simplicity

There are several threads with users complaining about the in-app notifications and I am one of them.  To me, they are absolutely useless.  We want to be able to delete them (with or without reading them).  I know each message is small, but it is still data clogging up my phone.

Now if the notifications and messages are kept on the server and are not on my phone, that only makes it a little better.  I am not the only one who wants to make these go away.  They are either clogging up my phone or clogging up your servers.

is of critical importance to good function in this day and age due to all our busy lives.

I agree. You do know that none of the data on the app is ever deleted! This includes daily exercise, sleep, fluid intake, heart rate, hourly activity, steps etc. You can check and all this is on the app from the day one began using the Fitbit. Talk about a build up of data. Do we really need the data from 4/16?

I received an e-mail from Fitbit and it sounds like they are actually listening.

We have enhanced the settings we give you to control your data. With these improvements, it is easier for you to edit or delete personal data you have given us, like your profile data; control how your personal stats and other information are visible to other Fitbit users; download your information, including data about your activities, body, foods, and sleep; control the notifications you receive from us; and manage the third-party apps you have authorized to access your account.

That does not seem to different from what I can do now. I just checked the app and browser and I still can not delete any notifications!

I'm not sure if the Fitbit updates have taken affect or not.

Shouldn't they take effect as soon as they downloaded?

I would guess so. But, I'm just relaying what was sent to me. I have not downloaded any new updates yet and they may still be working on it.
