Let us delete in-app notifications/messages

This is clogging up my iphone. I have a year or more worth of useless Fitbit notification messages I'd like to shed. I saw a 'solved' notice in here from a year ago stating it was resolved by stating there is no solution. This is simply ignoring the myriads of request/votes of customer requests/concerns to fix it. Fitbit should have had a REAL solution by now and apparently do not. In reality this problem has not been resolved but simply is being ignored by the company/moderator. The solution 'solved' to put a vote in ideas does not address the real concern or issue at hand. What's the point of a community forum if Fitbit does not listen to its customers? The thread should have flagged Fitbit/moderator to produce a real fix, we're still waiting.

So now I have to type this again! When I tried to post, site froze. Probably because I was emphasizing key words.

I want to know *why* you refuse to implement the ability to delete in app taunts/cheers and messages, since  the *locked* thread is *very* long, has over 1,000 votes, and has been being requested for the last 3 years. I would also like to know  *why* every time this idea is requested (as I am doing now), a robot moderator moves the suggestion to the *locked* thread!

In case you missed it, we want the ability to delete the in app messages, cheers and taunts, *please*!

Hi @Annebanann. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. I've moved your post into a similar request which is as not currently planned. You can also check this other suggestion here. About your other inquiry, while we merged other replies to this suggestion, it doesn't mean that the votes or we merge features that are similar discussions aren’t important. We want to keep one idea per suggestion so it can be easily searchable and see which idea other members are voting for. If you've not done so, check our FAQs to learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released. Hope to see you around.

There is currently no feature in the Fitbit app to delete messages. Apparently some people think it's a good dating app, and I constantly get unwanted messages. There is no way to delete these messages, and there really should be.

I vote for someway for us to be able to delete messages through the app. I have messages from December 2018 that have not been deleted. The last one if from January of 2019. Those are the only messages I have and I still have a number 7 for notifications but I only have 6 messages and it is saying I have 7. I have tried logging out and logging back in, uninstalling and re-installing and I have gone to the website to try and get ride of the message notifications as well. All of my messages are way over the 30 day mark for being automatically deleted.

We should be able to delete or erase the messages, taunts and other things we get from Friends on our App. The only way I can see doing it is to delete the acct and start over. this is a common feature on most and possibly all messaging apps. even dropping the friends does not erase those items.

Can the issue of old notifications/messages remaining on my account please be fixed?

I've contacted the help/support and they said the messages/notifications can't be deleted.

The messages are cleared from my watch but remain on my app on phone and website

The Fitbit app on the iPhone needs to have the option to delete all Notifications within the app on the iPhone.  Very much needed.

I keep getting friend requests from different people I don't know and are in other countries I think we should be able to turn the facility off, also we can swipe right to report messages but can't delete them off the app I think we need an option to swipe them the other way to delete them I'm sick of seeing months old messages.

@Rheann1201 Thank you for your request to have an option to delete friend messages.

I moved it to this thread because it is the same idea.

I co-lead one of the largest Fitbit groups on Facebook and no one can believe that anyone — much less anyone with apps or software experience — would have even considered designing or launching any messaging app that doesn’t give users control over private messages: most importantly, to delete them. Up to now Fitbit’s standard company lie/line was, “They auto-delete after 30 days.” When we pointed out that some of us have messages gathering dust for now 154 days and counting, the new lie/line is, “the app keeps the last 100 messages.”

I’m a guy. This is even worse for women, many of whom report frequently receiving unwanted messages from men in the Fitbit app: unwanted sexual advances, harassing or threatening comments, requests for naked pictures, stalking, and more. And “blocking” doesn’t remove the offending messages! By conveniently ignoring requests by users like me for YEARS now on this issue, Fitbit is saying it doesn’t give a flip not only about the average Fitbit user but about women being repeatedly sexually harassed across the Fitbit user network. When a company doesn’t have the know-how or business sense to get app or other IT basics together, it’s an absolute certainty that company does not even begin to have monitoring or filtering mechanisms in place to protect women from sexual harassment.

To a company like Fitbit, the app is not some off-in-a-corner afterthought. To Fitbit, the app is the business. It could not be more central to your company.

THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. NOT IN SOME 2020 ACTION PLAN OR FAR-OFF FUTURE, BUT RIGHT NOW.

If you need someone to consult with your executives on how Stone Age-backward this makes their company and its $3.67-a-share-and-rapidly-falling stock ($FIT) look...and to consult with your dev and sprint teams on how to make it happen...I’m employed F/T but I’m happy to help as I can.

In the meantime I’m going to be consulting with regulators and legislators on the implications of Fitbit’s ongoing failure to act on this mission-critical issue.

It's almost 2020 and we STILL cannot delete messages from other users...

If someone un-wantingly flirts with me... cant delete it, it stays there for me to see every time I log in

If someone un-wantingly bullies me ... cant delete it, it stays there for me to see every time I log in

If someone un-wantingly markets to me... cant delete it, it stays there for me to see every time I log in

If someone messages me in another language  ... cant delete it, it stays there for me to see every time I log in
