Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

It could work, Randy1248B, however, the moment you click/hit (whether by accident or to check the progress) on the screen, you can accidentally stop the workout, by touching the pause/stop icon on the screen. It is a work around, I grant you that, but it's not a fix...

Same here, an Option to lock the Buttons would be great.

I agree.  This has happened to me and it is very frustrating.

Never mind, it doesn't work.  The buttons are way too sensitive even if you flip it upside down, it still pauses by accident.  So i'm thinking, there must be a band out there where it covers both the buttons and the screen.  The screen can have a lid where you can flip it open or something.  It really is frustrating to use your Fitbit during high intensity workouts, you're constantly checking if you paused it by accident.

My Blaze keeps pausing during my high intensity workouts and boxing sessions. This is so frustrating and I am thinking about returning it to the store I purchased it from. Is there any way this issue can be pushed forward to the next firmware update. I have always had a Fitbit and would prefer not to change brands. This issue seems to be a common problem. The screen needs to be able to be locked or have to press other buttons to pause or stop. Please escalate this matter otherwise there will be more blaze watches being returned.

thank you

I've started popping the watch out and flipping it around 180 degreees so
the buttons don't work. A **ahem**ty solution but no more pausing at least.

Thanks for your suggestion I'll give it ago. I thought that it was the pause on the touch screen I have been hitting not the actual button but I'm really not sure. Hopefully they will fix this issue soon.

Please add a lock screen function for exercise. When I do boxing or kickboxing I either have to restart the workout on my watch or I don't feel the vibration and miss the workout completely. Also would like the screen to stay on so that I can see my heart rate consistently for circuit workouts.

I know that this request has been part of the community for over a year and nothing has been done. For me the primary function of this watch is to track fitness. If that capability is comprised then it's just a watch.  I also know that some people have made their own fix with a 3d printer, but considering that this is a fitness tracker it's  sad that people have had to do that at all. I have commented on pays on instagram about this and was just referred back here, so I'm making my own post.

Please come up with a solution for the next update!

I done the flip 180 before and it works, I had to play with it to get it to pop in. It would be every easy for Fitbit to just update the software to use to opposite side buttons to stop it or us the touch screen.

Has Fitbit responded to this thread yet? With over 200 comments and 380+ votes, I would think they would do something about this already.

Nope. They never have.

Kind of a **ahem**ty company it's looking like.

I used the Blaze all through my training up to, and including, my first half marathon yesterday. It's been just about flawless the whole time. However, due to the strong winds, low temps and rain the entire time, I had to wear light a shell coat and gloves. It wasn't until I finished and checked the app that I realized the Blaze had paused/restarted the run a few times. Reading through this thread, apparently this is caused by my sleeve/gloves touching the screen. Unbelievable. My race data was lost because of something that stupid. Sure I had tens of thousands of steps and it seemed really excited about that, but man...talk about disappointing. To add insult to injury, I find this thread is over a year old and still no fix from FitBit?!

Sad. Unfortunately I'm reading up on Garmins now. I'm not going to have this happen again.

Fitbit admin, any news on this being fixed?!

Every time I go for a bike ride with long sleeves my fitbit stops and starts the whole time, and its virtually USELESS at tracking!!!!!!I

Can we please have a screen lock asap?

I was excited today when I got a notification that there was a new firmware being pushed to my Blaze with the hope that it might finally get the screen lock that we've been hoping for.  Unfortunately no joy...   I'm pretty sure at this point that fitbit has no intention of addressing this major flaw.  Who makes an activity tracker that is ineffective at one of its most basic functions!

Safe to say we are all done with FitBit after this.

Bruised the inside of my wrist quite severely during Boxing due to having to wear my Blaze on the inside of my wrist - in the attempt to stop it from pausing/finishing half way through my workout. Very upset now, as much as I loved my Blaze I am now looking at alternative products.

Happy birthday to this suggestion. And another happy birthday to all other suggestions in this graveyard.

Oh, well. At least software gets attention, hardware is all but abandoned with Fitbit.

+1 on drops of rain, sweat, what not taking the control of my Blaze and pausing or finishing my activity records at random.

I also experienced Notifications being turned on and off when I am in the shower.

I agree, screen lock and button use should definitely be an option in settings.

But it should also be possible to have a pool, shower or rains detection in the future.

I just got a Samsung Gear S3. I like that I have to hit a button in order to pause/stop MapMyRun. Both the watch and the MMR app are doing a great job so far. I realize nothing is perfect and there are other options that may be better, but it was a gift. A very well timed one at that!

Anyway, I'm going to sell the Blaze...Given how long this problem (and others) have been going on, I don't have much faith that FitBit is going to get around to correcting it any time soon. Hopefully they do though.

Has this been adapted yet, still looking for a way to lock this during workouts as like others have said, when wearing a jacket it gets knocked.  The Apple Watch has a lock really hope they make one for blaze.

Argh, another commute home only to find the blaze stopped at 200 metres into a 17 mile ride. This is happening more frequently as my gloves seem to active the screen and stop the recording.

Suggest holding all three buttons down for a couple of seconds then blaze could show a padlock to indicate it was locked, unlocking is the reverse of locking.

It's so frustrating - I do big hikes on the Sussex downs that I like to log to see how my fitness is improving on the same rounds. Except I can't do that because the slightest touch of anything (a sleeve, my hand, the dog etc etc) ends the logging and I then I lose the whole segment. How is this not considered a fault rather than a feature?!

Hi  -

I just spent a few minutes on a chat with a very nice and apologetic customer service agent named Humberto, who said that he couldn't help on this issue because it might take a design or hardware change, which seemed like he was just trying to placate me. I asked who I could speak to about it and he gave me this number: (844) 434-8248 . It was the sales office. I spoke to someone there named Taylor who was also very apologetic and said that it's difficult to meet all the demands from customers. She then placed me on hold to talk to a supervisor who said she will make sure to tell the engineers about it, but in the meantime I should visit the "Feature Request" site at the Fitbit community (this URL). When I told her people have been clamoring for this feature for over a year she apologized and said there was nothing more that could be done. I told her I would be moving to an Apple Watch, and she apologized. Very nice conversation, and person, but nevertheless, no action.  Very sad

This happens to me every time I run. It was the worst then I ran my half marathon and it didn't track half my run.  Very upsetting.  If this is not fixed soon I'm converting to an Apple Watch.

When doing certain excersise, such as; boxercise or press ups my blaze always pauses or finishes the exercise. Leaving me with loads of separate entries for one workout.

Especially during boxercise. The glove interferes with the pause and finish buttons, so I am never able to record my full workout.

Blaze would benefit from a lock button or even an option on the screen when you press start. And you could slide the unlock button when you are finished to unlock it.
