Music storage on Sense/Versa 3

Please allow Sense to storage Music (mp3) just like Ionic, Versa, Versa 2.

Hi, @MistalMan , the Moderators move posts to keep everything on the same topic together.  This actually helps Fitbit understand just how many people are unhappy that the feature of storing music has been removed.

The Moderators can’t really address the issue further except to assure you that they are keeping track of customer feedback on this issue.  Clearly this was a decision higher up than moderator level.  They can only update everyone here when they get updates from higher up.

I am beginning to think there is some sort of legal agreement or contract with dezeer and pandora. Where the contract states no offline music storage unless it comes from deezer or pandora. Bought watch for a family member, almost also bought one for me, luckily saw reviews. Also goint to return the family members watch today.

The biggest issue with the versa 2 was that you needed to carry phone for GPS tracking and now that issue is solved, but now on the versa 3 you anyways need to carry phone for music.

Recently bout both the Sense and the Galaxy Active 2 to compare. I love the interface of the sense and the ECG technology. The Sense needs to have music access without another paid subscription though! Especially at its price point!!

Yes , I know... I'm "downgrading" to the Versa 2 as I can TOTALLY live
without the GPS.

This does seem like a missed step... add GPS so the user can leave the phone at home, but then remove the ability to store music. Don't get the rationale. It has stopped me from upgrading.

When I got my Versa 3 back in October I was pretty excited... as I get about any new tech.

An hour into setting it up I realized what they'd done. I was confused and then sad. Within the hour after that I had it boxed up and dropped off at the local UPS for return. I went back to my Versa 2. The more I thought about it, the more it upset me. The hubris of the decision and choosing a short-term dollar gain from a contract over serving your customers irritates me to this day.

Well the Versa 2 has started to give me grief wanting to connect to the charger properly. I could probably fix it up, the watch works fine otherwise, but it was enough to get me to pull the trigger on the Garmin Venu Sq Music.

Bye Fitbit. I used to like you, but you've changed, man.

Agree it does not make good Sense!

Holy cow. I cannot believe I gave this company another shot after the issues I still have with my Ionic.

On the Ionic, I could load my own music, which was why I bought it! But I could not get my Bluetooth headphones to pair. So now I 'upgrade' to the Sense. My Bluetooth headphones pair with it just fine, but wouldn't you know it... They've removed local music storage, the feature I was looking forward too the most.

Since I can't listen to music either way, I will be returning my Sense and going back to the Ionic, using it until it no longer works. I will NOT be replacing it with another Fitbit product ever again. Fool me twice, shame on me.

@LizzyFitbit any chance we can get an update on this?

It seems logical to add back music storage, but it would be appreciated if we could get notified if Fitbit will not be re-adding this feature.

I just found this topic and see that it has been going on since August. It would be nice to get an update on this feature. I honestly think that the Versa 3 and Sense are not going to sell well without the ability to store music or at least use a more popular music app like Spotify to store offline music. Especially since you just added the built in GPS for these watches. Many users will think they can finally leave their phone behind during a run just to find out they can't load their own music or not have a subscription to Deezer or Pandora premium.

I've already read and watched videos where people are returning their Versa 3 or Sense since not having this feature is a deal breaker. In a statistic I found, Deezer and Pandora COMBINED only make up less than 3% of the music steaming market share where Spotify is the biggest at 32%.

If you want to satisfy the most users and sell more watches, it would be best to add offline Spotify playlist capability like the Versa 2 or Ionic back on your premium watches like the Versa 3 or Sense.

I got excited when an update came yesterday hoping it would bring back the offline music feature i had with versa 2. No... It seems not. I don't think they are listening to this forum, should have been a proper reply by now

Was about to purchase Versa 3, but realized offline music option had been removed. Will not buy until resolved.

Was about to order a Sense but thankfully found this thread first. Not being able to store music is a massive deal breaker. Although I'd love a newer, shinier model I can't justify the downgrade in functionality. I'll stick with the Ionic for now.

I was so happy to receive the Versa 3 to my birthday. Still now I was running each week with my phone, but now with my new watch... i will continue to run with my phone. I'm so so sad and disappointed cause it's not possible to store music and if you want listen it, you have to pay each MONTHS for the app. No !! I have so much mucics in my phone to create an account and pay to have music in my watch. My boyfriend has a ionic WITH music, and he was so happy to offer me the last version. But finally the Versa 3 is less efficient as his own old version. It's not logical to create a new sportwatch, more expensive as ionic bud without all services as music.

In the end, as you connect your bluetooth headphones to the phone to listen to music, your watch no longer being connected to your phone, you no longer receive calls and other notifications. So it's useless !!

Please the Versa 3 to allow us to transfer ans store music inside watch as others models (versa/versa2/ionic).

Hey Google, if you own Fitbit, make youtube music as default app and allow at least 250 songs available offline!

Lots of passion in getting offline storage on fitbit sense/versa 3. It would be awesome to be able to exercise without bringing a phone to listen to music, just have the sense/versa 3 and bluetooth headphone...maybe just a pipe dream for now until the Sense 2 or Versa 4 comes out...which translates to more possible sales...

Let's see how fitbit responds to customers' feedback.

Please bring the offline storage of music back!  I live in a rural area and do not want to subscribe to another service that is sketchy.

Please allow music storage on the phone.  This is truly ridiculous.  I loved this feature on Versa 2 and used it extensively.

"Let's see how fitbit responds to customers' feedback."

- Well, given that this issue was first raised nearly three months ago, I think it's pretty obvious how Fitbit will respond; by totally ignoring it. You're flogging a dead horse here.

Whilst I completely feel your pain. I WAS a long time SAMSUNG user having had all the note series and watches, only to be completely rebuffed by the CEO in the UK about the supposed repair to my watch only to find out they had "binned it" and replaced it with an inferior model. Yes FITBIT has its faults and I had a massive rant about the sense when it was released but today the EU has given it permission for Google to take over. So I think while we are all totally HACKED off about not being able to add our own music as I did only Versa, like many of you I feel tricked into this over sight, I think we should bear with. What's the point of taking it back for models you don't really want really? NO I'm not a moderator, just a very long time user, who is with you all on the music issue and hope that FITBIT get their act together and put out some sort of firmware update to support the music enhancement.

I get what Ladycaz is saying about not jumping to a product that is not necessarily any better than a Fitbit and that there's a fair chance that as with any tech company you'll find something not to like about the product. However, I still feel that there is no excuse for Fitbit pretty much ignoring this thread. They could let us know if it's a planned update, never going to happen, or will only happen when the Sense 2 and Versa 4 arrive. They could let us know if a tie with Spotify or Amazon Music is a possibility. (I'll assume Apple music fans will have an Apple Watch). Instead they ignore this. I remember when Sonos made a fairly unpopular decision about recycling their products and within a fairly short space of time they went public with an admission of error and a change of plan. Credit to them for this. If Fitbit don't think removing local storage is a mistake, then be brave and let us know. Clearly we disagree, but at least you'd have had some dialogue with your customers. Many of us have been with you for years and would like to remain so. It'd just be nice to hear something from Fitbit about the way forward regarding storage and/or furhter intergration beyond Pandora and Deezer: Two firms that don't readily spring to mind as music streaming providers, at least here in the UK. Just some communication would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath given their engagement on her so far.  Pretty shoddy customer service really and whilst the loss of storage is a backward step for many, arguably the most disappointing thing about this whole music storage topic is the lack of ancknowledgement from Fitbit.

Hi @LizzyFitbit more and more people asking for clarification on this topic!

Can we have an update?

MarkMays

Like many, I assumed that this simple feature on the previous Versa models would be carried over to the new one. It's a disturbing trend now with manufacturers subtracting useful features to guide us towards some future we aren't interested in. TBH, I use the streaming services but I also had a few playlists stored on my Versa. I liked having the option to listen to the music I own on my watch without taking the phone thanks to the installed GPS. Now I'll still be tethered to the phone. It will be even worse in the gym (when they reopen) because the last thing I want is someone dropping a dumbbell on my expensive pocket computer, so I don't take it there.

I suppose it's partially my fault but I've already erased my data from my old watch in preparation to give it to my son. Not nearly as big a blunder as not allowing music storage.

Get the thing with Windows 10/iOS sorted so we can listen to our tunes.

Just got my Versa 3 and when I went to upload my running Playlist I see no option like I had with my Ionic. I did some searching and come to find that Fitbit is no longer supporting this function? WTF Fitbit I could have just, and will, purchased a Samsung, apple watch or many other products.
