It would be nice if you had the option that when your tracker recognizes you are asleep, that notifications are disabled. That way you are not awaken in the middle of the night by a text message that could have waited until morning.
For me, the killer reason for this is in combination with the "light the face when I lift my wrist" feature.
I can't tell you how many times I wake myself at night because I shift in my sleep and my Charge 2 shines in my face like a flashlight. I'd like to be able to set it to turn off this feature during a set period of time. It'd be even nicer if the device behaved like, "If I think you're asleep I won't light up unless you push the button."
I came here to suggest the same thing. I don't want to have to enable/disable it every day. Give us an auto disable time frame that we can adjust to our sleep schedule.
We have the ability to limit move notifications to specific hours during the day. Why not allow us to limit text and phone call reminders as well? I just upgraded to the Alta HR and find it difficult to sleep when I'm getting early morning phone calls and text messages. I want to be able to block those notifications while I'm sleeping or until my silent alarm goes off.
I am very light sensitive and had to purchase a decal to place on the face of my Charge 2 to dim the light. The ability to control the brightness would be greatly appreciated.
After a few weeks using my Charge 2, like many users, I find the display brightness causes annoyances. First, it not always bright enough when viewed in bright sun. Second, during sleep hours, it is too bright.
Im guessing there is no sensor to allow auto brightness adjustment to ambient light during the day, so I'll have to live with that. However, during sleep hours, it wouldn't be too difficult to program the display brightness to be lowered; the device 'knows' when you have fallen asleep and wake up. Quick view just prevents the auto switch on of display, but you still may wake up during night and want to check the time, being hit by a bright display then is not appreciated.
Im surprised this has not been addressed after being commented on for so long.
I'd like to see the option to turn off quick view when the "do not disturb" feature is activated - it only makes sense that if you're asleep or in a meeting you don't want your fitbit lighting up randomly. Also, as others have said, if the fitbit knows you're asleep it should disable the quick view - I'm surprised it isn't already a feature! I've had my fitbit for 1 day and already had to turn off quick view since it disturbed my boyfriend when he was trying to get to sleep and also woke me up after I'd had 4 hours and I wasn't able to get back to sleep so I'm really unimpressed this hasn't been implemented.
I'm currently using the do not disturb function on my phone to stop calls and texts from making their way to my device. What do you mean by light? the screen turning on? or the HR lights on the back side fo the tracker? Would you want to shut off HR tracking while you sleep? Its really important to track HR while you sleep to get your resting heart rate.
Hi, i really like the feature that the Fitbit Blaze can now receive notifications for any selected app. However, these notifications need a feature to controll when not to disturb me. One big pet peeve is getting notifications during a workout and the message will hang over the screen I am trying to interact with on the Blaze. There should be a setting to control which notifications can alert me like during a workout only critical notifications like calendar appointment reminders, phone calls or text messages, assuming you don't get too many text in a day, should alert me and briefly display on the screen and not sit there if I don't look at it right away. Also, a similar "do not disturb" feature should be available during certain hour of the day like bedtime, instead of using the smartphone feature to block messages while I sleep. Perhaps a feature to have silent notifications without the buzzing would be a good feature to still receive notifications minus the buzzing sensation like during business hours or important moments that need your full attention. This feature in particular could be quickly activated using a certain button combination press. I heard a rumer that you were working on something similar, hopefully what I suggested will be included. Other than that all of you are doing an amazing job. Keep on innovating.
It would be so nice to be able to wear the Alta at night to monitor my sleep patterns. Every time I move at night it turns on the screen and wakes me up if my hand is near my face, or it wakes up my husband. There should be a DND setting where you can shut off the light during sleep time. PLEASE
It would be very useful to have a Do not disturb time that prevents notifications and gestures while you sleep. The gestures are very annoying when they light up the display while you're trying to sleep. I've had to turn my gestures off which sucks 😞
And now the recent IOS Fitbit app update has made it more cumbersome to switch the Quick View on and off—from the Dashboard view, now you have go through two screens to access the switch. It's getting old to have to turn this on and off twice a day, particularly as I often have sync errors and have to stand and wait or go back and redo it. I'm thinking of switching to another brand of fitness tracker.
It is a shame Fitibit haven't done something about this, I can't imagine it would be difficult to implement. My old Xiaomi Mi band 2 (that only cost me £18!) gives you the option to schedule times for the do not disturb mode to turn on and off, or you can set it to detect when you're sleeping so the dnd mode turns on and off automatically that way. You also have the option to have quick view on or off during dnd mode so the screen lighting up will never disturb you and you never have to remember to set it. The only way the Fitibt beats it on this aspect is that you can turn dnd on and off through the tracker, but again you have to remember to do so and the quick view is not tied to the dnd mode so you have to set that separately anyway - so that's two things to remember to do twice a day.
Fitbit Blaze should provide a "Do Not Disturb" setting that allows the user to automatically turn off "Quick View" and notifications during whatever time periods they desire. It is a pain to remember to turn off quick view and notifications every night before bed and then turn them back on in the morning. If my IPhone has a "Do Not Disturb" setting that allows the user to automatically keep the phone silent during whatever hours the user decides upon then you would think Fitbit could do the same..
I'm aware that a lot of users asked Fitbit to stop sending notifications to their phone when it is in do not disturb mode. I believe Fitbit implementing this in the current way was too much of a "one size fits all" approach.
Android does not have a "Silent" mode. Do not disturb mode is used in its place, allowing you to set a profile and customise what notifications you receive on the phone. Therefore, the phone being on "do not disturb" does not necessarily mean you do not want to subtly receive notifications, you just want to stop your phone vibrating as it's loud on the table etc in a meeting. The Fitbit vibrate is NOT instrusive in the same way, so it would be useful to have the phone silent but allow notifications to reach the fitbit.
At the moment, if I want my fitbit to vibrate, the phone must vibrate as well which is somewhat pointless as the fitbit notification is then surplus to requirements.
I propose the following:
Add a toggle switch into the fitbit app that allows you to either enable or disable fitbit notifications during "do not disturb" mode, catering for a larger group of people.
The turning off notifications (by holding the button when on the clock face) really only works for notifications. It doesn't work for the Quick View (tested it myself to make sure).
I love the quick view during the day, but I definitely fall into that light sleeper category and the clock face lights up pretty bright in a completely dark room.
With so many people wanting a do not disturb time for the quick view I'm amazed that it hasn't been implemented. I'm not wearing my watch at night anymore. That's easier than turning it on and off every morning and night.
I know fitbit collects that sleep data. If everyone stops wearing there bands at night I wonder if fitbit will finally do something about it.
Another +1. I have requested this from FitBit many times since getting these bands. Both me and my husband have the Charge 2 and the quick view is nice during the day but it NEEDS to have a do not disturb mode that keeps the thing from waking you up at night.
I've stopped wearing my band all together - I can't be bothered to deal with it or forget and be woken up. My husbands still wakes me up though (even with quick view off it seems to find a way to turn on) and drives me insane.
FITBIT PLEASE CREATE A DO NOT DISTURB FEATURE that you can set to automatically come on each day just like our phones, etc.
@DerrickS : This is update of the firmware is only for notifications. We also would like to disable te display to light up as we accidentally push the button at night!
Or even a work around? The "reminders to move" already doesn't work properly if you work night shift...now I can't use notifications *either*? C'mon, Fitbit, what's the point of buying a device with these extra features when they don't work? I like the idea of notifications, but I *don't* like being woken up in the middle of my sleep for misdialed or sales calls.
Would definitely love to be able to set a specific time frame for the Quick view feature. Also the "snooze" option it's a great idea, like the current Notifications on/off.
