No Notifications in Sleep or Do Not Disturb Mode

It would be nice if you had the option that when your tracker recognizes you are asleep, that notifications are disabled. That way you are not awaken in the middle of the night by a text message that could have waited until morning.

Yes, please.  A night dimming feature would greatly enhance this product

That's a perfect solution, I voted!

I personally don't notice the "QuickView" light on my Charge 2, but several people have issues with it on theirs. They were pleased to know that it could be turned off to prevent the light from disturbing their sleep and also to help extend the battery charge intervals. It would be great to have an option to control the feature to operate on a preset schedule. Right now, it requires someone to remember to turn it off and on when desired and then sync the tracker. With the synching issues experienced lately, it could be a day before the tracker gets the message. It would probably be too much to ask for a brightness control feature, but having QuickView on a selectable preset schedule really makes sense.

I've 'liked' many of these "turn the display off (or dim it) at night threads, but this thread struck a chord! Since we have usually put our preferred/expected sleep hours into our dashboard, you could use that to temper when a user might want the "dim mode" enabled. If the tracker says we're up and about  (i.e., we haven't really started sleeping), then leave the display bright. But, once we're sleeping, set the dim mode on, until we've been up and about for 10 minutes, or until our Silent Alarm wakes us... Using the sleep times as boundaries could make this easier to implement than just guessing at clock times. (For example, this could help in the case of Day Sleepers as well! 🙂

I cannot believe that this feature is still not implemented.

Please FitBit, do something about this issue.  My Quickview is always turned off, and yet it comes on when I move my arm at night (and yet I can't get it to do that in the day time) and is incredibly bright!!  It's not a pleasant way to be woken up.

I find it very annoying that I cannot choose a time window in which I would like to receive call/text notifications on my Alta HR (similar to the way I choose the hours I want reminders to move).  I was woken up in the middle of the night on the first night wearing my Fitbit, and have not had text notifications on since.  It's a cool feature, but I don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night.

I agree very much

+1 for this issue. Don't necessarily need to add new UI for do-not-disturb hours, could just infer do-not-disturb from sleep mode. The FitBit Charge already knows more or less when the user is asleep and could stop Quickview during those hours. That would be a great start. Might need a switch to turn this behavior on/off, but not a full do-not-disturb UI.

The FitBit business model appears to be mainly to add new features only with new hardware, like buying a TV. Need a business model with recurring revenue to pay for new features for existing hardware.

First night of use its a disaster,  My sleep chart shows the light woke me up 8 times.  Timed quick view is a basic functionality and a product design error.  Pleases Fitbit fix this....its common sense.

I guess that they just cannot do it.

Hi @cmreidy91 thanks for this suggestion. I wanted to update you that we do now have the ability to turn off notifications during detected sleep and exercise, for our newest product Ionic. I understand that you want to manually be able to set notification times but hopefully sleep and exercise will cover a few of them. Thanks for your suggestion, I will leave it open until I have another update for you on this.

Adding my +1. I spend more time awake with the Charge 2 on my wrist, worrying about how I'm positioning my arm when I move about, than I ever recall being awake before. Renders the sleep functions useless for me.

At night, adjust light display  to bedtime mode. Making the light dim during the night so it isn't blinding if you wake up.

A suggestion implementation would be to add an option to turn off quick view during "Target Sleep Schedule".

I enjoy receiving notifications from my phone, but find it to be disruptive while sleeping. To prevent customers from having to manually turn notifications on and off on a daily basis, is it possible to allow for the automatic scheduling of notifications during certain hours and days of the week?

Hi, i don't think that's a necessary feature you can:
A. Lower the volume of your phone
B. Before going sleep put your phone in charge far away from you

Thanks!

I have my phone scheduled for DND except favorites during the time when I am usually sleeping and I do not get any notifications during this time on my Ionic.

I agree with @rfjouben.  If you have DND enabled on your phone, you should not get any notifications on the device during that time.  I've successfully used DND via the phone on various fitbit models.

Hi @bfeinknopf and commenters, thanks for your suggestion.

Your suggestion to turn off notifications during sleep and exercise has been implemented on Ionic where you can turn off notifications during sleep and exercise. I will however leave this suggestion as 'Reviewed' for now, as there is a variety of other devices mentioned by commenters below. You can manually turn off notifications on or off - see more on that here.

Thanks for sharing your ideas and feedback with us.

This issue is NOT resolved.  There is still the problem with Quick View.

I love Quick View during the day, but it's impossible to sleep with it on.  It's a bit odd that Fitbit would make devices meant to wear to sleep, then neglect to have it stop pestering us while we sleep.  You know when we're sleeping!

And it's too much of a pain to turn it off each night & back on in the morning.  You have to unlock the phone, open the phone app, click a few times to get to the right menu, turn Quick View off, a few clicks to get back to the dashboard and wait for it to sync, then test to be sure it synced the change.  Twice a day.

The best option would be to have a Do Not Disturb schedule (days & times, please) for disabling all annoyances like Quick View, Notifications, etc.

At minimum, you can add Quick View control to the Menu Item options, like Notifications.  It's less helpful than a Do Not Disturb schedule, but I might to start using Quick View again with this change.

And the best thing is: Fitbit actually knows when we are sleeping 😉

Why not just used the sleep schedule as the DND window?

@LizFitbit the Blaze (swipe down) and Charge 2 (hold on button) also have this feature
