Pokemon Go and Fitbit Integration

With Pokémon Go's release, it would be great to see that Fitbit, the authority in wearable fitness trackers and the app Pokémon Go which encourages its players to walk around and discover the world using their feet, join forces for a better you. Hitting your goals and catching your beloved Pokémon, is there anything else better than that? Whenever you reach your Fitbit goal, you'll get a little in-game item for Pokémon go. Pokémon related badges will also add spice to your collection of badges. You can brag it off to your friends as a sort of badge that you and Pokémon accomplished.

I think this would be a very good move for Fitbit since they have been the forerunner in the wearable fitness trackers industry and with the popularity of Pokémon Go, what better way than 2 giants in the industry joining together. Makes sense right?

Thanks for reading.

No fitbit device can do that, whereas iWatches and Android Gear will be able to so no that's not gonna happen that way

I don't think going the Niantic/Nintendo/Pokémon route would be best for
Fitbit because instead of using them and their resources, we as end users
could set up apps that connect to Fitbit that could be just as
entertaining; if not more.
I am going to look into getting together some of my developer/programmer
friends and classmates and create a simple gps game that potentially (with
approval of Fitbit) integrate and connect directly. Fitbit could implement
in-app purchases for premium items etc. (in-app purchases trend is at a
high right now unfortunately) and they would bennifit.
Imagine playing a game or socialising while keeping fit. Why not earn some
digital rewards and have an extra feeling of accomplishment? I think 3rd
party integrated apps would definitely be a good idea for Fitbit to
concider.
They could then take this new funding to help the 3rd party development
team in updates and upgrades etc. resulting in more funding to make it even
better than PokemonGO.

Oh no! Apple watch series 2 jumped on this idea already. But it's never too late!! Btw, my charge HR is falling apart. If fibit gets intergrated with Pokémon go I would definitely purchase a new Fitbit wearable technology. Otherwise, I'll be getting the new Apple Watch 2. Pokémon go is expected to have an Apple Watch app out by the end of the year. I got my Charge HR last Christmas. This Christmas I'm getting a new watch. It's been nice using Fitbit this past year. Appreciated the features Fitbit had but our relationship has come to the end of its course. Unless you come out with a Fitbit Apple Watch app. I'll be interested in buying the Fitbit app.

Seriously! I'd rather use my fashionable FitBit that I already have than go out and buy the childish looking Go Plus thing they made.

It would be up to Niantic to add their own support.  I doubt Pokemon would implement it - as they have their own wearable.  It would be great to have a similar game to play with

I doubt Pokemon would implement it - as they have their own wearable.  It would be great to have a similar game to play with fitbit people.  I would happily build it if the api supported the following:

- custom notifications,

- the ability to create custom activities in the menu.

- Ability to have the button accessible and callback to trigger actions.

Sadly I think that would be a lot of complexity- but maybe that would be a possibility in the next few years.

It would be great if we could hatch an egg on Pokemon go... Using our Fitbit trackers!

Don't you think it would be great to be able to log distance to hatch eggs without having your phone running all the time? Well, I do. Please, Fitbit, meet up with Niantic and discuss working together. It would certainly boost popularity and user counts with both products. Please consider this, as most Pokémon GO players and Fitbit it owners want this to happen.

I'm definitely not looking for full pokemon go integration but a way to use the distances walked to at least hatch eggs. I don't have enough battery to constantly have my phone open to pokemon go while I walk around during the day. I'm not asking for a way to cheat the system but for a way to get credit for the distance walked.

I agree... Just let us get credit walked to use for egg hatching and buddy candy!

SInce apple watch now counts toward hatching eggs and getting candy for your buddy pokemon, when will fitbit get this feature? i hope soon.
