Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

How many more YEARS will this take before they FINALLY add the pregnancy feature.

Well said everyone. I don’t know how many times I’ve posted commented suggest! Don’t believe anyone is actually listening to the Fitbit users let alone reading these comments and taking action over them

Hi @Bonnie1808, thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion about adding Pregnancy mode. I've moved it into a similar request. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

Fitbit should have a pregnancy option, as the heart rate, weight etc changes during pregnancy. Also steps aren’t count while pushing a pram.

I can't believe this was first suggested in 2013! It's been 10 years nearly, and there is still not a pregnancy feature.

I'm currently pregnant. My resting heart rate has increased, and my sleep patterns are disrupted, meaning that my stress management score on my app has decreased. My sleep score is lower, my exercise has changed, my menstrual health has changed, my weight is increasing, and my dietary requirements have changed. That's most of the sections on the app - I'm surprised I wasn't able to switch to 'pregnancy mode' as that would cover all of the parts that have been affected and could give useful information about healthy weight gain or pregnancy-specific exercises. Instead I've been getting slightly passive aggressive insights about 'sleeping more to help with weight loss'... not very tactful right now, as the reason for both the sleep disruption and weight gain is the tiny human growing inside me!

I really hope this feature appears soon.

I have been following this since 2019 or 2020. I am shocked to see that this is among the top voted for feature suggestions, and many of those with similar amounts of votes have long since been released, unless they are integrations with other apps. Although this is not as simple an addition as others would be, being able to tell the app that I'm pregnant so that it doesn't give me "tips" about sleep and weight would be great. I'm only 8 weeks pregnant, but I'm not looking forward to all the "tips" this app will give me later in my pregnancy.

Its absolutely shocking that 4 years after being suggested, you still can't tell fitbit you're pregnant. Considering the changes which happen to your body during pregnancy (like your cardio function because your blood volume increases by 50%...) and your fitbit just sits there completely dumb.

The menstruation tracking is so half baked. This should have been available since V1 was launched! But here we are 4 years down the line (and 3 years since someone from Fitbit said they were considering it) and its still not available.

So depressing that every other Top suggested feature that isn't dependent on an integration with a direct FitBit competitor (and plenty of the less popular suggestions) have been released...

I find it almost disrespectful that it’s been YEARS and so many requests and you haven’t somehow managed to put SOMETHING in this app to feature a pregnancy. You can slowly evolve it to meet all the requests within this, and how many other, threads like specifics but at least and overall “you’re pregnant and will monitor different and stop telling you your period is coming”.. a start at least. Something to show that you’re listening to your customers and value women and what we go through.

Meanwhile, Apple Watch has incredible features and my Fitbit is in the process of dying AGAIN for the second time in less than two years (refurb this time since my original purchase died 8 months after purchase) and I’m not even sticking around. Good luck and Godspeed.

Updating to a prior post I made about 1 year ago.

A few months after posting on here about a pregnancy feature, I retired my Fitbit. In its place, I purchased a Garmin Vivoactive 4s. Now, the battery life on the 4s is quite disappointing (as opposed to the Vivoactive 4 and Fitbit models) and the price is a little more steep, but the app and watch features are so much better in many ways!!!

Unfortunately, my pregnancy at the time of my prior posting was not viable, but I've since become pregnant again and am currently at 30 weeks! The reason I mention that is because since the start of this pregnancy, I've been using the Garmin and their pregnancy features are amazing!!!

The Garmin stops telling you about your period and offers weekly pregnancy tips and growth updates based on your estimated gestational age! It also changes menstrual symptoms to pregnancy symptoms (including contractions, swelling, heartburn, and many others) and allows tracking of kick counts, hiccups, and general movement. Further, it offers viable weekly weight gain "goals" as opposed to reminding you that you've gained a lot of weight recently... If you gain weight like an average woman during pregnancy, it lines up quite well, but it has never made me feel bad for gaining too much weight too rapidly!

Once you hit the 3rd trimester, the pregnancy page updates to include a "LOG DELIVERY DATE" option. It's like night and day with how different these 2 companies accommodate this wonderful time in a woman's life!

I can't really speak about the postpartum period yet and breastfeeding, but honestly, the pregnancy features seemed the most pertinent to me in starting this journey, but I know I can customise how I want this app to work with me after I give birth.

The watch and app also allow for monitoring of pulse ox, while awake AND asleep! It's not always perfect (being it's not a medical device), but it really can help you establish a baseline and know when things aren't quite right.

The sleep function isn't as "helpful" as the Fitbit tries to be, but it does offer more data and details about your sleep such as movement, pulse ox, and respirations on top of the typical sleep cycle data.

I couldn't ask for more in watch / health & fitness tracker! Well, except a better battery life on the Vivoactive 4s lol (just go with the Vivoactive 4). I've decided as of my prior posting on here that I was done with Fitbit and after watching post after post of women like me replying to this board for the last year, I know I made the right decision.

Thank you Fitbit for all of the wonderful years of tracking my health and fitness data, but I've outgrown you and have found better.

Good luck ladies and congratulations on your little ones!!! Best wishes!

After reading bossylilquistis post above, does anyone know if you can transfer the data from a Fitbit to a Garmin? The Garmin sounds 1000 times better than what Fitbit have so far failed to offer, so I was wondering if I were to replace my device with something a bit more suitable would my previous data transfer across, like previous heart rate / weight / exercise etc, or would it be starting from scratch? I think it would even be worth starting from scratch, to be honest, if it actually had relevant information, but it does seem a shame that the data I've been accumulating for so long would be lost...

I started using my Garmin on the I had my Fitbit synced with, but was unable to transfer my data at the time (last year), even using the Apple health  app. I now use pixel phone, but have only used my Garmin exclusively on here so I don't have a reference point for this.

I did have to start over, but if you play with and explore the app once you get your new tracker set up, you can customise nearly everything and then it learns from there. Yes, it does suck to lose all of that data, but I think it did try to get some (2 weeks or so) of my Fitbit data then... I just can't really remember now. 🙂🙃🙂

Correction: I started using my Garmin on the iPhone I had previously...

Fit bit is missing an opportunity here to track women’s pregnancies. They are such an important part of women’s health and well being. I will likely discontinue use of my Fitbit during pregnancy and post partum because it won’t accurately reflect my current health condition. If Apple Watch has this feature I will switch. Sorry fit bit but it’s the 21st century and apps need to be built for women too,  not just men.

Just adding the chorus of voices that finds it absurd that this still hasn't been released despite being first suggested on here nearly a decade ago. I've used FitBit for years, but pregnancy messed up so much of my tracking. At the very least, you should allow women to turn off menstrual tracking a certain date range.

Good heavens! What is Fitbit waiting for to implement this suggestions? It's 10 year anniversary in 20 months?  Do you not have a DEI committee that's helping you see just how tone deaf the absence of this feature is?  I just had a 10.5 week miscarriage this week.  My period tracking won't be accurate anytime soon because I can't record that pregnancy.  Guess my time with Fitbit is limited to the life of my current smart watch unless this is announced. AppleWatch meets the needs of its pregnant and breastfeeding women.  Why can't Fitibit? Given you're a Fortune 500 company with over $1 billion market value, it's not that you don't have the funds.  Given that your competitor has managed it, it's not that it's technically impossible.  Given how long you've had to work on this feature since the first suggestion, and that you have the money and personnel and the technology is not impossible, the message your company is sending is that you just don't care about women and their health needs.  Come on Fitbit, it's 2022.  Either prioritize my health as a woman that's been a loyal customer for years, or my next SmartWatch will be an AppleWatch.

Absolutely ridiculous that this day in age Fitbit doesn’t have even the ability to register a pregnancy, let alone adjust settings and goals for pregnancy health. This is a huge market of users who are actively concerned about their daily health who Fitbit is discriminating against. Get with the program Fitbit.

I was so surprised this was not a feature! Presumably my stats are all going to indicate a decline in health now?

Fitbit definitely needs a pregnancy mode. Pregnant women have higher heart rates and that needs to be shown not as poor cardiac health but as normal for pregnancy. It would also be nice to mark in the menstrual health section that a woman is pregnant to help keep track of weeks and baby development.

This has been a topic brought up in 2018 and was placed under consideration in 2019 and Fitbit still hasn’t done anything with it. It’s like they honestly don’t care…. I’m sorry I subscribed to a year of Fitbit premium because it honestly is doing me no good in tracking my fertility before I got pregnant, when I was pregnant and now after my miscarriage. FitBit come on now….. why hasn’t this been made a feature? It makes me want to go back to using my Apple Watch… which is probably going to happen

Where are the Women FitBit employees that can advocate for half of your customers?

I just need FitBit to recognize and exclude this phase, if you do not have the manpower and capability to add "features" of a normal woman's life.

Would love if there was an "I'm pregnant" button in the app. My stats have become quite hilarious now that I'm pregnant.

I really don't understand why there are as detailed metrics as  morning after pills, pms symptoms, and other detailed menstrual data but no pregnancy option. Does Fitbit think women never get pregnant? It would be really helpful. Instead I have 3 other apps and subscriptions to input fertility data and pregnancy when I would prefer to have it all consolidated with Fitbit. Fitbit was great for helping me find ovulation and get pregnant. I just wish it acknowledge pregnancy and be mindful of weight gain and other health metrics with this consideration.

Shocked and disappointed there is no pregnancy mode. Thought this would at least he an option so you can log yoir period never came, but also a reason for amd to monitor changing higher rhr, weight gain, body temperature and everything else that changes with your body during pregnancy. Get with it Fitbit, it's been requested for years now!
