Rowing/Stationary Rowing Machine Exercise Shortcut

Considering most of the important cardio equipment is represented in the Exercise list, I think it's more than justifiable to add a stationary rowing machine to the list. Almost every gym in America contains at least one or more Concept 2 rower as it is a total body and low impact method of Cardio. It's one of my favorites and I'm sure I am not the only user that is a bit disappointed that is not represented.

Howdy - just got my versa and love it so far but as a competitive Dragon boat paddler and a mad keen erg user an app (or addition to the current exercise app) that tracks distance (in miles and kms), calories burned and heart rate in one would be absolutely awesome.   Any thanks ☺️

When using the rowing machine it's very common to track total strokes and strokes per minute instead of kilometers/miles. My suggestion is a new option in the tab for logging this exercise where you can choose to add strokes as an alternative to distance.

I have a Fitbit Charge 2 and am a huge fan of the Fitbit experience. I have a request that I think would be beneficial for all Fitbit users----Please add indoor (erg) rowing machine to the exercise list. Frankly, I am surprised that there is not one already. Indoor rowing machines are the ultimate total body cardio workout and are highly thought of by exercise physiologists. I am sure that I speak for many Fitbit enthusiasts when I say that a rowing option would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

I completely agree that rowing, both indoor and outdoor, should be added to the existing exercises and rolled out as an update. Can't understand why this has been ignored as a suggestion for so long.

I really love my Fitbit Versa, but my wife and I are both occasional rowers and would like the ability to track this activity without having to enter it manually.

Make Rowing a Recognized Exercise on Fitbit Inspire HR!!! I use a Rowing machine for my main exercise and with my Fitbit Inspire HR I don’t get much calorie burn or exercise credit while rowing.

I use a kayak extensively in the summer and this would be a great added option.  I can update it manually online but takes too long to bother with.

Can’t believe rowing still isn’t on here but golf is! Sort it out Fitbit!

please add a rowing machine workout to the surge and other devices.

I also agree that fitbit should integrate rowing to the exercise list. I row at the gym and kayak a lot in the summertime. Please keep voting to add rowing to the list.

Voted for this. Really surprised that indoor rowing isn't on the list. It's such a good workout. I know it doesn't record steps but neither does indoor spinning.

Surprised as well that this still hasn't been added.  I'm a concept 2 owner that would like to see it added as well, voted.

I and the rest of the rowing community would appreciate rowing on and off water to be a tracking option on fitbits. A large variety of sports are offered to track but rowing is never included, meaning that no matter how much we love the look of the watch it just isn’t practice for us to use if it doesn’t apply to rowing which leads to us unfortunately having to go to other watch designers on the market. Would be great if rowing could be added to the extensive list of options!!

Has there been any progress or updates on adding "rowing" as an option in the exercise menu? I believe the issue was raised in 2015!! How many votes do you need to make it happen?

When I did the latest update I was hoping that it would include the addition of rowing and rowing machine.

I agree. I am also seeing more of the CrossFit community use indoor rowing machines for training.  It is a staple for trainers at my gym and erg training is a key part of off season training for rowers worldwide that cannot row during the colder months of the year in their geography.  Really a shame we are not seeing more support from FitBit on this. I have to use a combination of my stroke/speed coach and FitBit using the Bike exercise to get feedback on the workout and I still do not get all the information I am looking for.  Thanks for your support!

Just looked just looked at the list of exercise shortcuts and rowing still wasn’t there, though some exercises have been added to the auto list. If the FitBit can monitor yoga and weights, I wish that it could monitor rowing on the water and on a rowing machine. Wish we were more persuasive with the FitBit development team. I am sure they are on our side of using this powerful device to aid in our training.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Since posting on this board I have seen no
evidence whatsoever that Fitbit take any notice.

It is just somewhere that they send people to post messages so we don't do
it in public.

If you have Twitter or Facebook I would contact them that way - I posted on
Twitter and they replied very quickly, so I think with a lot of people
posting and re-tweeting it might have more of an impact. If you do post on
social media, mention it here and I will re-post/like etc.

I submitted a request over 2 years ago. I rely on rowing for my fitness. In
the last two years I've seen dozens of requests, ignored.
This is the last FitBit I'll buy.

Yes, I won't be getting a fitbit again - its good for what it does, but it
seems very orientated towards just getting people off the couch - good in
itself I guess.

I will be getting a Garmin watch next time - bit more expensive, but now I
know I like having a wearable fitness tracker I think it will be worth the
cost:

And I can't imagine their support is any less responsive than fitbit.
