I really hope they do. I go to the doctor monthly and they've recently put me on meds which can increase blood pressure. I want to be able to track the numbers over time, because I'm not confident that whoever's taking my BP at the appointment is going to notice an uptick if it's still in a safe range.

I agree, I’m surprised that Fitbit appearing to be the market leader with really good reviews in fitness tracker market, don’t include BP function, there are several much cheaper trackers on the market that do have BP facility, I’ve been trying to find one that actually alerts you if your BP either falls or raises to any significance, but so far no joy.

I'm glad fitbit is considering the feature.

However, from looking through the forums, it seems fitbit has been considering the feature since 2014 when they took away the BP tracking log. Four (almost five) years is a long time to a user base. Is there an estimated date? If not, I'll honestly just switch to a different ecosystem and abandon fitbit. There's no shortage of weight- and exercise-tracking alternatives these days.

Even a Tile to allow manual input of blood pressure (or any other piece of relevant user data for that matter) would be better than the complete inability to get BP data into FitBit now....  Surely a generic user defined tile for data entry would be a simple addition ???

Too late FitBit! My wife got me a Gear Fit Pro 2. I don’t know if they provide blood pressure line for recording readings. But hopefully I won’t be ignored!

FITBIT!!!

To start off, I love your product, currently using the fitbit versa and it has been a revolutionary product within my life, helping me to achieve goals and maintain healthiness. However, the one main reason I had purchased this product, was so that I could eradicate the concerns by my doctor - which was of hypertension (high blood pressure).

Now although improving my overall health would likely lead to my blood pressure being reduced to a more healthy level - the inability to monitor or even log this data is somewhat frustrating - considering it was an option before.

You're business should aim to cover this, at a bare minimum allowing us to log the data so we can hopefully see an improvement trend. With hopes for you to implement a BP monitor in one of your next devices - or even a seperate bluetooth enabled fitbit product that allows us to monitor with a click of a button that automatically gets logged on the blood pressure chart.

There are companies that already do this, however, due to my desire of your current product and functionality - I want to keepall the data, in the same place. I also understand your data is stored forever - which will entice your clients such as myself maintain using your products for a lifetime in hopes that this history data analysis can be used in the future to identify and solve potential health problems.

PLEASE provide a blood pressure monitor , separate or included. And you will have many more long standing clients as a fact.

Best,

Gus

Many people, for a long time, have been asking  for a way to simply log BP or BGs on Fitbit. While it would be great to actually monitor BPs or BGs, that is a big technical challenge and raises the issues of “medical device.” Adding a customizable pane would be much easier, but FitBit shows no signs of helping us out on this.

I continue to look at other systems: you are right that adding this functionality to the native app would buy my loyalty even though my experience with customer service has been disappointing.

Thank you Gus - my words exactly!
Sadly the FitBit company (Apple)has not replied, make a significant effort to answer the FitBit community’s questions including blood pressure recording.
So, my FitBit has a cracked screen and my wife is getting me a gear fit for Christmas. It may not have the blood pressure recording but neither does FitBit!
So bye-bye FitBit!

Since FitBit is unwilling or unable to provide us this Capability, I have been using TactioHealth App for logging BP and BG. It has it’s issues as well, but interfaces with my FitBit.

This is useful for comparing food and exercise with sugar levels.

This has a different purpose than Blood Pressure notes.

This knowledge helps person with control of glucose levels.

Suggested features

  • Be clear that this is a diary and not a diagnostic tool.
  • Use the same meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks...) as when entering a meal
  • Allow the user to flag the entry as before or after a meal
  • US and Canada use different scales, please support both
    • I would shy away from comparisons and conversions as they are not needed. As a diabetic, I will not be switching between the two scales (ever)
  • Have a separate entry type for the quarterly A1C.
    • The A1C is not related to any particular meal, so should not be linked to a meal in the App
  • Provide a place to state what medications were taken, in plain text
    • Bonus: Allow users to select from a list of medications (Some like Insulin need a quantity)
  • Include date & time details on the entry, Make them editable as the entry might be made after an unknowable amount of time.
  • Line graphs should be over a 7, 30 and 90 day time frames, using one scale and ignoring readings logged in a different scale
  • Average values should be over a 7, 30 and 90 day time frames, using one scale and ignoring readings logged in a different scale

Samsung offers this but does not link that well with Fitbit.

Disappointingly Fitbit don't seem to be listening to requests to include the ability to monitor blood pressure, even a simple manual entry system.

Looking through the forum this or similar request is a regular theme with collectively lots of support from customers.

When will this be re-introduced?

I have VasoVagal Syncope, which basically is when you have that, 'I stood up to fast' feeling almost all the time and I constantly have to carry a blood pressure cuff with me.  I know other brands are working on this technology, but I love Fitbit and would not want to change brands just for this feature, but will if I have to because it would be such a game changer for me.  I would love to see Fitbit add this feature to the newest Ionic which has almost everything anyway!  Blood glucose monitoring would also be awesome, but I do not know if that is possible without having access to actual blood.

I would also second the request to have Fitbit a placeholder to just capture the blood sugar entry. Myself and my wife are both diabetics and have been using multiple Fitbit products for about 4 years now along with our daughter to realize our goals. The objective is to be healthy with a self controlled diet and self monitoring. I would like to have one app which can help us in this visualization.

I entered my food details, but in the absence of the blood glucose details, for me and family it doesn't make a sense. Lost interest to enter without a benefit realization.

Without wandering into medical device category, Fitbit should heed the requests of multiple users to allow the capability to enter the blood sugar details for self-monitoring, thereby still staying in the health device category...so that the users are able to manage their health and able to co-relate the Activity, Food (Diet) and its result on the blood sugar.

Hope Fitbit heeds to this genuine request.

It would great if there was feature where you could log your blood pressure so you could show your doctor.

I love my Fitbit Alta HR but the lack of BP monitoring is disappointing, and it is a feature that I actually need. So, I am shopping around for a new fitness tracker that includes Blood Pressure monitoring.

On a side note, I recall some news release about Apple releasing a watch that is practically a real-time EKG  - stunningly impressive! There are plenty of people that want and need such functionality, and I think Fitbit would do quite well if they included such functionality in one of their devices, maintaining the price point as close as possible to the existing successful sales price. But, until such day I'm shopping around and will probably leave Fitbit behind as soon as I find that perfect tracker!

I totally agree, the problem seems to be finding a decent one, I’m still struggling to find one. I bought one with bp function, also had one bought as a gift, but unfortunately they are both far from accurate! Back to the drawing board so to speak.
If you happen to find one I’d really appreciate if you could leg me know 😀

So, it seems like fitbit isn't going to add this functionality, though they did send me a survey quite a while back.  Aside from apps for other trackers, many of which which seem to allow you to log both BP and BG there are a slew of stand alone apps available for this.

Folks who like the fitbit app may also like Mango Health - it sort of gamifys logging things like BG, BP, meds, etc, sends you reminders (which can be irritating on weekend mornings) and allows you to enter a raffle each week for some token gift or donation to a charity.  No idea where they get their revenue, it may be shady.

A simple app I like a lot is Blood Glucose Tracker which is less "in your face" than Mango Health but does the job.  You just log your stuff and look at charts.  Non-invasive, very simple - possibly too bare bones for some folks.  Again, no idea if they are selling your data or whatever.  After trying dozens of apps, these are the two that I have liked the best.  I have no affiliation whatsoever with either.

"I have been using TactioHealth App for logging BP and BG. "

Thanks for posting - I'll check that one out.  I haven't tried it so far.

Rednik, thank you although I too have just been given a new fitbit as gift, when I need a new device I will definitely be looking at alternatives if fitbit don't reintroduce the BP monitoring facility before then, I have a history of getting through devices quite quickly, if you find one before me please let me know.

Yes, I will. I’m going to carry on researching, the one I was given as a gift (not Fitbit) doesn’t appear very reliable, certainly the BP function seems to be rather inaccurate!

Apparently ‘Which’ have tested quite a lot, I might subscribe to get the reviews then cancel 😂.

Good luck with your new Fitbit!

Just the ability to log BP instead of having to use a separate spreadsheet would be a good start (Fitbit used to have this). Good luck with your research

Listen to your community FitBit ! ! !

Your app/dashboard needs a place for us to manually enter blood pressure and blood glucose readings. No, I don't want your Fitbit to read either for me, they're too important to trust to a smart watch.

BUT to call this a true fitness app, how can it not have a place to enter blood pressure???  And I'm not diabetic, but I can see why it would be important to have on the dashboard if I were.

And while we're at it, O2 saturation on the dashboard. Just a place to enter it manually so I can track it.

FitBit, if you don't get serious about your 'tracking' functions you'll force us all to go elsewhere.

Rednik
First Steps
I agree somewhere to enter readings manually would be useful.
I’ve been wanting a tracker to read BP, I’ve now got a cheap one but the reading is totally inaccurate! Speaking to a Dr about my tracker whilst in hospital last week, his comment was ‘I really cannot see how they can possibly read BP accurately’, therefore I’m no longer bothering looking for one with BP function, but a Fitbit with facility to manually enter readings on app would be great!
