Stroller Mode

Many fitbit users push strollers and face the issue of steps not being tracked while pushing a stroller. What if fitbit created a stroller mode, which used a different step-tracking algorithm designed to mimic arm movements while pushing strollers or carts? If possible it can also detect steps with the current algorithm as well. This improved algorithm will be able to track the subtle up and down movement of the watch while pushing a stroller.

This may require a lot of research, but if it isn't too difficult to adjust the step tracking algorithm, this could definitely be a possibility.

I know there is already a "Stroller Mode" thread, but it has been closed and tagged "Not Currently Planned".  I just want to say that you've lost a customer and I'm not going to recommend fitbit to anyone again.  I've had a fitbit since the very beginning, when a techy friend of mine gave me one of the first or second generation fitbits for my birthday.  I recommended fitbit to everyone, and my husband, several friends, and most of my husband's family bought one too.  I've bought at least 7 fitbits over the years.

When I had my first baby 2 1/2 years ago, I switched from the model I could attach to my bra to a wrist model because I was wearing a nursing bra all the time.  Imagine my disappointment when I realized that it was severely undercounting my steps whenever I pushed a stroller (or pushed a shopping cart, or carried a load in my arms so the arm wasn't moving).  Most women's clothes don't have pockets, but it's beside the point since fitbit sells the Alta, the Charge, etc. as watches capable of counting steps while on your arm.I came here and discovered people have been asking for a stroller mode or similar feature for years. Now the thread is closed and fitbit is saying it will never happen.

My husband was wearing another fitness watch the other day and we did the same activities all day, only I was pushing the stroller.  His watch managed to capture his 11,000+ steps (confirmed by the fitbit he had in his pocket), while my Alta HR only registered 4,000 steps all days.  If other fitness watch makers can figure it out, so can fitbit.  Really disappointed.

Correction to above: my husband pushed the stroller sometimes, but his fitness watch managed to capture all of his steps, even the ones while he was pushing the stroller.

When I am going out for walks with my baby in her pram, fitbit automatically recognises the activity as 'outdoor cycling'?! I then have to manually edit the activity to walking as there is no pre loaded pram pushing activity?! Why not...! There must be so many parents using fitbit who would like to see this added, think of all the extra calories we're burning compared to walking! (Or at least that's how I justify the extra chocolate!)

please fitbit add pram pushing as an activity!!!

When I’m out walking now I’m almost always pushing a stroller, and often it slows my pace enough that I don’t get active minutes logged, especially because there are a lot of hills where I live. My fitbit also tends to autorecognize this as “outdoor biking” and then I don’t get the right number of steps, and if I correct it, it becomes a manually logged activity and none of those steps are counted in the counts my friends and family see. I’d like to have the option to tell my fitbit that I’m pushing my stroller, and have it properly calculate my active minutes - I may move slower but I’m pushing extra weight! I have a flex 2 so pace is all that is used to calculate my active minutes.

Currently my step count is very inaccurate because much of my steps and activity is done with ky pram. Find some way to record steps whilst pushing a pram. This has put me off my fit bit.

When I go for my daily run it always tries to categorize it as “outdoor bike.” It would be convenient to add “Walk with stroller” or “Run with stroller” to the exercise categories for those of us using them on a daily basis.

I do a lot of running with my kids in a stroller. My fit bit can not seen to count my steps when I'm pushing it. Could we add a Feature to the work outs that can tell the fit bit that I'm running or walking with a Stroller so that it will count my steps? Maybe something along the line of hight x distance and it can do the math on about how many steps. Thank you

I've just done a 3.5 mile walk pushing a 2 year old in a buggy, but FitBit says I've only done 1500 steps! Please consider adding walking with pushchair/stroller as an option. I loose thousands of steps each week and I can't be alone!

There really needs to be an easy to activate/select mode for when the wearer is using a shopping cart or a stroller. While shopping, I’m using a lot of steps plus lifting objects of various weights, lifting, bending etc.. I make it count! It would be fantastic to be able to quickly this mode then get my shopping done.
