Support International Date Formats

It's 2018. Simply put, new devices and applications which don't take into account the needs of the world community in terms of a very basic date display should not exist. It's not that hard.

I can understand that the majority of folks in the USA don't really care about the way the rest of the world uses dates. And it would therefore be exceedingly difficult to drum up enough support via a "popular vote". But, it's just common courtesy.

I just purchased the new inspire HR and discovered that the product only has the American presentation of dates mm/dd/yyyy on its clock faces. As I am from Europe and also as my previous Alta HR had this feature I would really like if the Inspire HR would have the option of changing the date presentation to the European way of dd/mm/yyyy

Hi @MariLiis! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request.  A lot of users are asking for this option, I hope we receive updates soon. You might be interested on this other suggestion: Customize the Stats Heavy Clock.

Please at least give us the option of a clock face with the DD/MM clock format - not everyone who uses Fitbit is American! I can’t believe this issue was first raised in 05-07-2018 (July? Or May? 2018!) and Fitbit still haven’t implemented it. Do they not care about their non-US users?!!!

Ok it’s now 2020! How much longer do we have to wait for this Fitbit?

oh yes this should be mandatory for all watches and the clocks faces. I had Alta HR and it allowed this. I don't see what it's should be an issue, this is something that the "developers" have to automatically offer considering the Worldwide use of the products. Shame on Fitbit for allowing this to become an issue on the first place. this needs to be kicked up as essential maintenance and be solved by the end of the week.... not just "oh sometime in the future!!" doesn't make me happy about having just purchased a 2nd Fitbit for myself.

I don’t think Fitbit does really give a f*** about their non-us customers 😉

Kind regards,

like almost all US based companies unfortunately @SunsetRunner .... maybe they'll learn that the non-US customer base is just as if not more valuable and look after the rest of us poor schmucks....

Currently dates are shown in the American format of mm/dd and cannot be changed to dd/mm despite setting the location and time zone to the UK. The only way to get around this is to change to location to the Netherlands (???) which changes the fitbit language both on the device and the emails. Both these options of having everything in a different language or having the American date format are incredibly frustrating. Since buying a new Inspire HR I have found this to be an a issue, but on my previous Charge HR the date was displayed correctly for my location. Quite frankly this is a very simple fix (since the feature is already available if you set the location to the Netherlands) and I'm disappointed that changing the date format is not available, it seems as though fitbit is going backwards in terms of improving their devices.

Hi @CharlotteRC. Thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion about supporting international date format on our Fitbit devices. This idea was already requested in the Feature Suggestions board, so I’ve moved your post here. That way we can keep this board organized, in addition to clearly understanding which idea other members are voting for. Don’t forget to click on the thumbs-up to show your support.

Yes! It's so hard to wrap my mind around the USA date. Example, when I see Nov 20, I think November 2020. Please, please let us pick the date format that suits countries outside of the USA

I would also like a UK date format. Has this issue been resolved yet?

Sort of. You can now have the day, month, and below it Month, Day.
Example;
02
05
May 12

@Bluey53 @Thank you. I had spotted that but it seems a bit of a low tech  unsatisfactory workaround. It just needs to be sorted properly by Fitbit. I can’t believe this problem was first pointed out in 2018 and it still hasn’t just been updated to be automatically in this form.  I notice they managed to let me pay in £ not $ so they can master other countries’ differences when necessary.  😆

I cant believe FitBit hasn't fixed this yet after two years.

Going to return the two Fitbits I bought today as not fit for use.

This issue combined with the fact that you cant change it from 24Hr clock makes this unusable for a 6 year old who this is targeted for.

Someone else who has stumbled across this and can't believe it's not resolved yet. Unbelievable that a so-called global company forces US date formats on everyone else.

Hi @themolones_nz, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about supporting non U.S.A. data formats, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here to keep this board organized.

I find this competely annoying for not having a date format feature. Only the US uses MM/DD and the rest of the world use DD/MM. C'mon Fitbit, be less self centred and how hard is it to do this?

Why bother moving posts but no results delivered? Get your dev team to build a region based date format setting. Just because Fitbit is US headquartered, doesn’t mean all customers must use MM/DD format, super confusing. It’s 2020 and you guys are going backwards. I am at a tipping point of dumping Fitbit and enough being a loyal customer.

Completely agree.  This is a child's watch and it doesn't work for them if it gives the incorrect date as far as they've been taught, e.g. 09/06/2020 is 9th June 2020 in the UK, not 6th September.  You can't sell it in the UK but then show an incorrect date.

I can see requests for an International Date Format on various Fitbit products going back at least 3 years, why is this taking so long? We are any of these products supplied without this option in the first place? Fitbit don't seem to give a toss about their international customers. Can't even see any updates for this problem in the new firmware update. If nothing changes before my charge 3 decides to stop working, I won't be buying another fitbit product.

I would like to be able to choose in settings the ability to choose Date format.

The USA use MONTH, DAY and YEAR

The rest of the world and Australia, UK, Ireland and Europe mainly use DAY, MONTH, YEAR.
I have a Aria weight scales and I am just about to purchase a fitbit to match. I would be really keen for this to be fixed in the FITBIT and Scales.

I believe as a IT person this should not be too hard to do.

Regards, John

I know this exists in other discussions but there's no progress so I'm suggesting it again. Give users the option to display the date in the format used by their country of residence, not just the US format. This just be a some fix for Fitbit as opposed to many other suggestions and should be standard in this day and age. Come on Fitbit, sort it!
