I'd like to add my voice to the others requesting that cycling be supported by FitBit devices. I have just bought a Surge, and while I appreciate the hiking, walking, and indoor gym exercises that have presets, I do not understand why cycling is not one of them. With the built-in GPS, there is no reason that the device cannot support cycling as an activity. I hope your dev team will give this consideration. Thanks.
They only just released the new version with cycling here in Australia. I have updated my surge and tried cycling with it & it seems to work, finally this thing does what it always should have !!!! Has anyone tested its acuracy with a proper GPS unit?
Will there be a bicycling option in the Tracking Exercises pick list on Charge HR? It would be nice to have that as a choice along with walk, run, or hike.
The Exercise option should allow you to choose cycling for those who ride bikes on the road and down trails. He GPS and mapping is very motivational and would be great for cycling. You could also great badges for extra in entice as it tracks the milage over time.
I use map my ride. I have found this roundabout way of linking map my ride to my fitbit. I have both linked to My Fitness Pal. However, I would like to use my fitbit when cycling. The calories from fitbit vs the calories from map my ride were completely different. Fitbit says I burned 972 calories, map my ride says 1,510. I've been using map my ride for years. Why can't I just go into my fitbit log and EDIT what it recorded? It's obviously wrong since it doesn't understand cycling. Help. I love this thing but it's kind of making me mad since I cycle 3-4 times per week.
How do you know map my ride is accurate??? Fitbit is using GPS + heart rate. Just because you've been using mapmyride for years doesn't make it fool proof.
I have the fitbit HR... it doesn't have GPS. I used a Polar heartrate belt and watch along with Map My Ride. Fitbit has no idea what kind of terrain I am cycling, unlike Map My Ride that uses GPS. I would like to see FitBit eventually allow one of two things; either sync with Map My Ride, or allow me to edit the data from my laptop or app when I'm done.
One of the reasins I went with the surge was for the Gps with cycling, Very disappointed to see if does not exist. I thought it would since spinning is an exercise option. Would be nice to have an update with this included.
