Trade in/Upgrade Program

I've been a fitbit user for a little over a year now, receiving one as a gift last Christmas. Now seeing how my flex is so behind the times, I would like to upgrade to one of the HR ones. However, spending another 130-150 is very difficult. Wanting Fitbit to offer an upgrade or trade in program to allow for this to be more affordable.

I will heartily agree with the others here and state that Fitbit would be much improved if they started up a buy-back or trade in upgrade program. In addition to saving the technology from ending up in landfills or dusty corners of junk drawers, a program such as this might go a long way in keeping a loyal fan base with customer appreciation. I certainly would be interested in getting an upgrade every year if Fitbit were to reward brand loyalty in such a way. Otherwise, what's to stop me and others from going to check out a different brand who has a device similar (maybe better) to one from Fitbit but is is a little cheaper or maybe we just want to give some other brand a try?

I will chime in with my idea for a trade-in discount program:

1- Purchase the new upgraded device.

2- Print off a form from the website, fill it out and print off a return shipping label.

3- From the user account page on the website, wipe the data from the old device and 'un-register' it.

4- Send back the old device, charger, band(s), and the filled out form.

5- Wait for the techs to receive the old device and verify that it has been wiped and is still in good condition.

6- Receive a refund of 30% off your next purchase.

Some caveats: a). Upgrade means a new device which was released after the current device OR a new device which has more features than the current device. b) Refund do not expire but must be used on the next purchase and can be used on anything in the Fitbit online-store. c) Refunds limited to one per person every six months.

For Example: I currently have a Flex2. I upgrade to an InspireHR and get the 30% off applied to my account online. I can decide if I want to use the 30% at any time in the future and If in a year I decide I want to move up to the Charge or Versa model I would get 30% off. Or if in a month I decide I want to also own the Aria scale, I would get it with the discount. And when I want to upgrade from the Inspire I would go back to paying the full price for my upgrade, but again on the following order I would have another 30% off.

Lol, Fitbit doesn't care about it's customers.

Switch to Garmin. Better tech, better fitness tracking, better customer
service.

I think you guys should consider having a trade-in or trade-up program for your Fitbits. I have a Charge 2, and I’m interested in upgrading to a more recent tracker but I don’t know what to do with my old one. My charge 2 is in excellent condition but I don’t have anyone interested in buying it because it’s considered outdated.

I bought the Versa when it first came out, still in great condition. My only complaint is that it didn’t have Spotify capabilities. Pandora just doesn’t work for me, and it’s more expensive. With the Versa two coming out and it DOES have Spotify capabilities I want it and need it ASAP rocky. I just don’t have it in me to spend another $200 for another watch when mine works perfectly fine. I do believe you should have some type of buyback program. Possibly trade in and get a discount deal, whatever the almighty FitBit Goddess and Gods seem fair. You silly gooses should know this by 12 pages of customers requesting this. We love ya, love us back. ❤️

I know that apple and Samsung allow trade in for upgrading to another product they are selling to help pay for the new watch. I would love it if fitbit participated in that. I am upgrading from an alta hr to a fitbit versa and it would have helped to get a little money from my alta for my versa 🙂 thanks

I love this idea! I bought the versa a few months ago, and they are about to release the versa 2, and I don't want to spend another $200 this year for it, especially since mine still works perfectly!

Since the Alta HR band design was flawed from the start, it was be nice to get a discount on the Versa 2. I like the app interface.

Don't worry, they move everyone's posts and never do anything to implement
otherwise amazing ideas.

This thread has been ongoing since 2014. It takes that long to "consider" the idea of a trade in trade up program?

I would love to see it especially since the C3 is not a stable device.

Fitbit never *considers* anything. Switch to Garmin, you'll never look back.

I switched to Apple Watch. FitBit really needs to get on the ball with a trade in program.

Hi,

Is there a exchange program which Fitbit offers to give off the old Fitbit band and get a new one with extra cost.I have been using Fitbit Alta for almost 3yrs now and want to update it but if exchange can be provided.

Thanks,

Priya

Exactly. I have a Versa, and I want to try the new product. Trade-in program will definitely broaden the customer population, and keep their old customers as well.

So I received an email today from Fitbit with Subject: Upgrade your Charge 3 and get Amazon Alexa on your wrist

I thought "YES, AMAZING" as I've been having no end of trouble with my Charge 3 this last week, all my data has been lost as it won't sync to the App so I've tried resetting it multiple times...however, when I clicked the link there is in fact no option to upgrade, but I'm encouraged to buy the brand new versa 2 at full price, whilst keeping my broken Charge 3....which I've only owned since January.

Not a happy bunny, not gonna lie, very misleading.

To then delve a little deeper and see this, which as other commentors have mentioned was raised as an idea in 2014 is so disheartening..sort your act out Fitbit!! So many mixed messages are flying around.

Fitbit doesn't care about it's customers. Upgrade to a Garmin, you won't
regret it.

I have an old Charge HR & am currently using the Charge 2 HR. I would love to be able to trade both in for credit for the Veras 2 & pay the difference of the value. Maybe a future program????

I just bought my Versa in late June, making the painstaking decision between the Apple Watch and the Versa (money was not a factor). I went with the Versa because of brand loyalty, I like the Fitbit App, I have heard Fitbit was better for a very active person, and Fitbit used to have great customer service. Now the Versa 2 has just come out, and it has some of the things I liked about the Apple Watch, and a better battery life (the Versa battery is terrible), but I just spent $200 on my Versa. I contacted customer service to see if there was a way to trade up for a partial credit, and there is not. I am very disappointed! I would have waited if I had known they would upgrade so soon. Fitbit should consider partial credit for trading in an old item for an upgrade, and maybe a larger credit if they can see you bought the product within 6 months of the new one. I doubt I will get another Fitbit after this; I will go with the Apple Watch, as Apple does offer partial credit though their recycling program. I will be very sad; I have been with Fitbit since 2013, but this shows me they are not loyal to customers who are loyal to them.
