Waterproof trackers

I'm looking for a completely waterproof tracker with all of the features (sleep, heart rate, steps, stairs, miles, calories, reminder to move, phone alerts, clock with date, etc) all in one. When??  Please make this your next release!!!!!

I received a Charge HR as a Christmas present this year and I absolutely love it.  I immediately started using the tracker and software as a tool to help me start losing weight.  In fact I liked the product so much I purchased an Aria in January to further document my progress.

Since Christmas, I've lost 30lbs and am well on my way to achieving my initial 40lb weight loss goal.  I've been singing the praises of fitbit and its activity tracker as well as calorie counting software to all who will listen.

Here's where things get tricky though.  I'm a pool owner, and with Spring and Summer approaching I'm very excited about adding swimming to my daily activity repertoire.  I knew that my Charge HR was not water proof, however I figured I would just purchase another fitbit product to track my water exercise.  But guess what?  I just discovered what all of you on this forum already know... fitbit doesn't offer a water activity device!

So I turn to google and discover that several other activity trackers do offer such devices.  So here I am only two months into my new relationship with fitbit (that truthfully has been lovely thus far) and we've hit an impasse.  Do I wait a couple months and hope that they announce a new product to meet my needs.  Or do I cut bait now and move on to a competitor's product that already allows for tracking water activities?

Some more questions:  If a bought a different device from a competitor specifically to track swimming, is there anyway to log that data into my fitbit app?(the truth is the clean software component is one of the things I like most about fitbit)  Does anyone have a recommendation of a low cost device for doing just that?  I really like fitbit and I am at least moderately invested in their products and infrastructure but from the little I have read online it looks like if I want it all, Garmin may be the way to go.  Come on fitbit... help me out!

@jwilla7 - if you look at when this discussion started, it was back in 2013! I like Fitbit too and it's helped me lose 60 lbs. Congrats on doing so well with your weight loss! I'm waiting until April when Garmin is going to release their Vivoactive HR. I was shocked when they didn't offer Blaze in a waterproof version -it's just a reconfigurat ion of Surge with changeable bands. If Fitbit has not released or announced a tracker that is swimproof, that's the Garmin I'm going to buy.

There's a company that will, for a fee, waterproof your Flex or Charge HR.  The one caveat is that the Charge HR will lose the ability to count floors when they waterproof it.

Frankly my Charge HR counts floors every time the air pressure changes.  No loss there.

If outsiders can waterproof a Fitbit, surely Fitbit can come up with a waterproof device.

I do deep water running and the pulse rate is the key guide to work rate in water, while I also wish to be able to get a complete fitness check on all dry activity.  I've no interest in having to wear separate straps for water and keen to wear one device all day.  So .. keen for a fitbit water watch that monitors pulse and steps.

I bought a Moov because it was waterpoof, that's about all it is.  PLease make a waterproof fitbit I can swim with!

I have been blown away by the coaching functionality and swim tracking on
the MOOV Now. Wish Fitbit could add that too.

Please please make a waterproof/multi sport for the surge so that I don't have to get a Garmin! I would love to leave it on when I swim or take part in triathlons.....It is my 50th this year and I want a new watch - will it be a Garmin????

We have to have something waterproof, something we can wear while swimming!

I have the charge hr an i love everything about it except that i cant track my aquatic exercise... I live very close to the beach and am there all the time so upgrading the waterproofing and swimming abilities would make this product infinitely better

If the altimeter is the limiting factor for waterproofing, then why even have the altimeter sensor?

As far as I can tell, the altimeter is just used to count stairs climbs.  The altimeter sensor is not very accurate; mine always shows that I've climbed stairs, even though I have no stairs.  This is because the altimeter sensor measures atmospheric pressure, and therefore is suseptable to pressure changes from airconditioning, open/closing doors, etc.  Inaccurate data is useless data!

Seems silly to make a device for activitiy, and not be waterproof.

would love to see fitbit charge HR with water proof features.

cause as a out door person, we face way too many raining season (including simple jogging), i love to wear Charge HR to monitor my HR (yes is not that accurate but still better than nothing) but it does cause us more trouble ..... only if Fitbit come with IP 67 or 68 rating, i will be more than happy on it ...

I agree with both footballislife an songbird1329.  I don't care if it is a separate device that will sync with the Charge HR or just waterproof the Charge HR.  I've debated on going with different fitness tracker brand for the days I'm going to be in water which during the summer months is a lot.  Please consider this.

Hi all.

Mod just removed a lot of my post and comments. Reason: inflammatory.

So now, a customer like me being marked as angry/violent.

Where is your "customer first" mentality Fitbit?

Goodbye Fitbit. I have had enough.

I've used a variety of Fitbit trackers and probably always will...but we really need a fully waterproof tracker that has swim metrics built in. I used a waterproofed Flex on my ankle to count kicks when I swim, but being able to track distance would be awesome. I know it's possible--Garmin has these things on the Vivoactive and the 920xt--but I would buy a Fitbit device with swim metrics in a heartbeat and would fully shelve my Garmin to get it.

Please please make a HR fitness tracker that is water proof - I swim and sail and would love to be able to accurately track my movement, HR and calories better...  I love the HR feature, it is handy and always available giving a good indication of where I am at.  Please make it water proof - so many people want this feature, would be great if something could be done about it!

Going to buy the new waterproof Garmin. Get with the program Fitbit. The Blaze would be perfect if it were waterproof.

I have given up on fitbit and looked at Garmin and purchased the vivofit2 - received a defective unit and it didn't record my steps correctly in the pool so I returned it. The grass isn't always greener on the other side but I am willing to purchase the new Gamin vivofit3 because I am not going to wait forever for fitbit to listen to our needs.

If you wait Garmin is coming out with a new model soon and it is waterproof and has many other extras: http://explore.garmin.com/en-US/vivo-fitness/

Whether you’re walking around the office or going for a jog, vívofit 3 can automatically detect your activity using Garmin Move IQ and display it on Garmin Connect. Wear it comfortably 24/7 to monitor sleep and count steps. Even get reminded to move after an hour of inactivity, with the red move bar. It’s water resistant, has a 1-year battery life and can be dressed up with the interchangeable Style Collection bands, to suit every moment of your active lifestyle.

@flgranny4 - I'm waiting until Garmin releases their Vivoactive HR in May. If Fitbit has not announced a version ypu can swim with, I'll purchase the new Garmin. It has everything Fitbit has AND you can swim with it. With summer coming up, I don't want to have to worry about my fitness tracker if I want to take a jump in the pool.

I have a Charge HR and when I contacted fitbit support to see if I can wear it in the pool while was walking laps I was told NO. I don't swim with the Charge HR but it would get wet while I was swinging my arms. So are you saying that I can now wear it in the pool for lap walking?

KLM117
Recovery Runner
@flgranny4 - I would not wear it lap walking as they don't like you to get it wet. It says it's water resistant to sweat and rain. The button on the side is where water can get in and damage the device. I keep mine away from water so I don't break it. That's why everyone is looking for a version that is not waterphobic!!!!
