Waterproof trackers

I'm looking for a completely waterproof tracker with all of the features (sleep, heart rate, steps, stairs, miles, calories, reminder to move, phone alerts, clock with date, etc) all in one. When??  Please make this your next release!!!!!

One of the biggest features missing from the current fitbit product line is water resistance for swimming. I'd love to see a future device have proper water proofing so we can track swims.

I play a lot of sports and also enjoy swimming and some water sports. To take it off and remember to put it on again is sometimes difficult when also running around after the kids. I would really love the fitbits to be waterproof so the only time you need to take them off is to charge ! C'mon Fitbit listen to your users and give us a Fitbit that is as amazing as the existing ones but with the ability to be used in water!

The lack of waterproofing on the Fitbit devices is laughable these days, especially when you consider that comparable fitness watches/trackers have some measure of waterproofing. Swimming is a common fitness activity in the south, where I'm from as the heat makes it very unpleasant to exercise strenuously in the summer. The Garmin band watch is submersible to the recreational dive limit. While I don't see a great deal of value in trying to research movement algos for divers to track exercise, it would be great to keep track of HR. 10 ATM is a big ask, but the devices should be WP'd to at least 2-3 ATM so that people can swim in them in a lap pool. If you combine this with motion/wireless charging instead of the proprietary port, then you've got a winner of a product that you can theoretically charge more for.

Would love to see a waterproof fit bit for people who kayak and do water sports.

Fitbit replied to my tweet about this and they currently have no plans to make a waterproof Fitbit ... Time to look at the garmin I think 😞

That's good to know. At least they are honest about not upgrading. I will miss the app at least.

So sad that they are willing to give up the waterproof market.  Granted designing and making a waterproof unit that will stand up to ocean salt water will be very hard to do.

I would have thought with the amount of money they make and considering there are already waterproof trackers out there it's an area they would seriously be looking at ... Maybe they have reached their limit of technology ...

Got tired of waiting for Fitbit to make a waterproof tracker. When Fergelle said they responded to her Tweet with no plans to offer one, I got the new Garmin Vivoactive HR. Had it about a week and love it! It's a bit different and I'll miss challenges with my Fitbit buddies but if they want a tracker that is not waterphobic, they'll be moving to Garmin too!

I was looking at the Garmon vivofit too simply because I want to track how many calories whilst in the pool. It's so annoying fitbit brought that new device out alta I think so why not make that waterproof???
I'm currently using the charge hr but never in the pool, shower or washing up.

It is frustrating isn't it. They offer everything else except waterproofing 😞

I was using the Charge HR but have switched to the Garmin Vivosmart HR and it has all of the fitbit Charge HR features AND IT IS WATERPROOF!

I have a ChargeHR and I love it, but I really wish it was waterproof. I spend a lot of time in the pool, especially in the summer months. I wish my Fitbit could track my pool time.

I wrote my own seperate swim calclator which includes energy contribtions of hydrodynamics (e.g. you don't burn FEWER calories by swimming the same 1-mile in less time) as well as swimmer cross section.  It's kind of cumbersome, but reasonably accurate compared to running or stair climbing. I'd like to have, at the very least, a heart rate monitor that can be in the water while swimming to compare calorie burn based on heart rate.

Temperature sensors (body & water) would be VERY helpful for a swim monitor as the rate of heat extraction from the body is dependent on the temperature of the water.

Anyway, a "SwimFit" device is a definite topper on my wish list.

I'm not so certain of their lack of interest.
Fitbit Support pointed me to the thread.

To be fair this thread has been on here at least 3 years so clearly not that worried!

It's a shame cos they could end up with a decent bit of kit at a decent price that could give Garmin a run for its money.

They also pointed me to this thread. Which I read, however when I retweeted them to ask when they might be making one. They replied that they have no intention of making one in the near future. Also this thread has been running for around 3 years ... And they still haven't taken notice ...

I have to echo these sentiments however I'd love to have waterproofing and stairs.
I have had my Surge since Xmas 2015 and my Rolex now spends all it;s time in the drawer and the Surge is an intergral part of me (and 15kg weight loss).

Waterproofing and a few more "activities" such as rowing would be nice.

Cheers

I have been an avid Fitbit User for over 3 years now.  While I love my Fitbit (and have had most styles to date), for my summer activities I was forced to purchase another device.  Albeit being used, and cheap in price because it was previously used, my fitbit will be staying at home and my "waterproof" device will be with me at the pool, which is 4 out of 7 days a week on average.  I will add my activity as exercise during a specific timeframe.  It is what it is, and if Fitbit is not going to get on the ball with the rest of the world and provide us with a waterproof device, we all have to look elsewhere.

I agree and am very disappointed. Hopefully my garmin will arrive today

I work as a lifeguard so the risk of getting wet is high. I just want a feature that would allow me to wear my fitbit it the water for short periods of time without worrying about it breaking.

I've just bought the garmin HR. It fits just like the charge HR but is waterproof and I can use it to control my music on my phone. Plus it shows alerts from calendar, mail, calls and texts. 100% better in my opinion
