I'm looking for a completely waterproof tracker with all of the features (sleep, heart rate, steps, stairs, miles, calories, reminder to move, phone alerts, clock with date, etc) all in one. When?? Please make this your next release!!!!!
I completely agree that I'd like to see the charge and charge HR be waterproof or at least water resistant. This is the one lacking feature that is preventing me from purchasing the Charge HR. I've read too many comments that the charge HR stops working because someone forgot to take it off in the shower.
I had the flex for a short while and it was nice to be able to leave it on while showering and not worry that it was going to get damaged. In the longrun, we as users, will have more of a possibility of 1) losing the fitbit, 2) possibly not putting it on correctly after showering, 3) having more wear/tear due to slipping on and off, which will bring down our ROI.
If the next generation of the charge HR is waterproof, i will absolutely get it, but for now, i can only hope and wait!
Please develop a fitbit that has a waterproof design that can be used in most water activities. Water activities are becoming more and more a part of daily exercise routines and family outings. Also please clarify what is considered water-resistant. Packaging says water resistant but then the fitbit community and customer support directs users not to swim with the flex on due to force of strokes during swimming but does not mention anything about if it is ok for water sports, water parks, or water aerobics.
I wish they get a version of fitbit that would take a combination of the steps walked with my Charge HR and a simple waterproof tracker - this is not the best option but I would pay extra if that was an option.
I broke down and purchased a Garman Viofit2 because it was waterproof. It was a hassle switching between both and not having a combined total of the steps walked per day - I get HR dollars for the steps walked and it is my best interest to walk the most I can! I was only able to use one tracker in the HR program so I used the Charge HR and missed out on all the steps I did in the pool.
Waterproofing all fitbit fitness bands is a great idea! I saw a competitors product that I am considering since the only fitbit that is waterproof is the flex. The competitors product that I saw was waterproof, steps counted, elevation gained (floors) counted, I think it even did heart rate and had an two different bands (1 sport and 1 dressy).
My next fitness purchase will be one that is waterproof. I'd love for it to be a fitbit product, but will go with a competitor if you can't offer the same.
When is Fitbit going to make a waterproof device, if there is any talk. I like Fitbit but want waterproof. Their are other devices that are waterproof. I really don't want to go to them but I want waterproof and hope something is coming out soon for Fitbit.
I agree that I would LOVE to have a waterproof Fitbit. I take mine off at the pool and feel like I lose a lot of recorded steps. I wear the Fitbit that clips to my bra.
I would love to get the Fitbit surge, but refuse until you release something that can work while swimming. Most wearable trackers these days are water proof, not just water resistant. I want a tracker that has a quality gps for running (which the surge is great) but also can help me pace and count swim laps. For the leading fitness health tech company you guys are missing out on the avid swimmer population. Help us out! Once the surge is swimming capable, only then will I give you my money.
Why can't we have a waterproof Fitbit? Even a separate device, one just for swimming, would be OK. I mean, we can track multiple devices on one account. I'd really like to be able to wear a Fitbit device in the pool and seamlessly track my activity. Garmin, Misfit, Runtastic, TomTom and several other companies are able to make activity trackers that can be worn for swimming or other water sports. Garmin, Swimovate, etc. make swim watches that can track stroke count, distance, etc. Why not Fitbit?
Hey, I saw this from a moderator on a different feature request. It explains why the surge isn't swimming compatible:
Hi everyone, thank you so much for posting on the feature request board. Please note that the Charge, Charge HR, and Surge all utilize an altimeter, which requires a very tiny hole on the tracker, to measures changes in atmospheric pressure used to calculate floors climbed. In order to avoid water-logging, we do not recommend swimming or showering with our trackers.
The Surge is water resistant to 5 ATM and the Charge HR 1ATM, which means the trackers can be submerged and will still work when removed from water. However, this does not mean the trackers can withstand the force associated with swimming strokes.
So yeah, that's why we won't see a swim-proof surge any time soon. Personally, I could do without the stair tracking in favor of swim tracking, from what I've seen of most surge users, that's not a universal sentiment.
I think I've come up with a partial solution. A waterproof pouch of some kind. I was looking at sweatbands and found a wristband with a zippered pouch large enough to hold a Fitbit. The pouch is waterproof. Think it'll work with my Zip?
That's a great idea. But be sure to try the pouch out first, as you plan to use it, but without the device, but with something that will show if it gets wet.
