I am here because I was searching for a way to view weather on my fitbit charge 5. I agree with another user who pointed out that older charge models had this feature and sadly I have come to find out that the newer charge 5 does not. This does not make sense to me. I would use this feature daily, please consider adding it for the charge 5!!!
What does "Reviewed By Moderator" mean? It has this status for the last 15 months. Isn't that enough time to make a really simple and easy weather app on the Charge 5? I'm not a coding expert but creating a simple interface with a few weather icons, temperature gauges, wind index, and rain meters and connecting that to open source web information (like openweathermap) shouldn't be to hard for someone who knows what he was doing. It has been done on previous Charge watches. Why not on the Charge 5? Just give on developer a few days and you make allot of people very happy. Something this simple must be default on all smartwatches. Please create the weather app. Or many users will no longer consider Fitbit as their next choice in fitness tracking watch.
After success of Charge 3 and Charge 4, Fitbit realised the trackers are just too good with too many features. This way no one would buy upper ranges like Sense 2. Make a comparison between Charge 5 and Sense 2. If they add weather or relax app that they removed from Charge 4 in Charge 5, why someone wants to buy Sense 2 when Charge 5 has all!
Having said that, I think Charge 5 has lots of other flaws and not a good tracker. I made a mistake to upgrade my Charge 3. The readings are not reliable, they are intermittent and lots of data missing. I never had these issues with Charge 3.
Fitbit changed my Charge 5 once as a faulty device but the new device is exactly the same.
Perhaps Fitbit like many other companies passed their pick and we should think of a competitor to move to them, specially when we see no feedback from them after writing to them for over 15 months.
I totally agree. As a longtime Fitbit user, I was absolutely shocked to discover that a function I had come to count on after using it for years on my previous Charge 3 and Charge 4 trackers was no longer available on the “latest and greatest” upgraded device. What a total disappointment!
Another shocked user that my new Charge 5 is missing a weather app. That’s just so basic. Please give an update on consideration or implementation. This had become my go to weather to see if I need to grab a jacket or umbrella. I mean can’t it interface with my phone via Bluetooth? I don’t understand how it can display my texts but not the weather. *sigh*

I'm evaluating a Fitbit after a few years of Garmin. I understand there will be difference between the way the two companies measure and report data. I'm prepared for that and will focus on trends instead of comparison, but.... I never realized how much a glance at my watch to check the weather before a workout or in the morning getting dressed. Lack of basic weather is definitely a detractor. One strike so far.
I'm here to vote for this but as a software developer I know that at this point the only reason such a basic feature is missing from the Charge 5 is an intentional decision by the team not to do it so I have little hope of it getting created. Shame because I otherwise really like the Charge 5.
I was equally as unimpressed with no weather app on my HR5 and then the weather app just magically appeared when I sent that recently. If you activate the weather app settings, and sync it, it may magically appear for you.
Agreed! It was on the charge 3 so I expected it to be on my new 5. It makes me mad enough that my next watch update will probably be an Apple. Not trusting fitbit as much now. Not only does it have weather, which I need to plan my workouts, but I like it's automatic check-in for falls.
Couldn't agree more! This device has now been out for at least 2+ years, and there's still no weather app, or update on plans for one, or why it was removed? The weather app was not only on the Charge 4, it was even on the Charge 3 (the last model I owned). If I'd have known this would still not have been rectified, 3yrs later, I would have gone with a different company - still might. I bought the Charge 5 to get _more_ features than the previous generations, not less
How could a company take away one of the most useful features on the fitbit, I had a charge 3, and thought I was upgrading to the charge 5. What a waste of money.
Hi @Keegan4, thanks for taking the time to share this product feedback about adding Weather app to the Charge 5 with us. I noticed this product feedback was already requested in this board, so I’ve moved your post here. Please support this product feedback idea by adding your vote, this helps our developers to keep tracking its popularity and demand over time.
Count me in on wanting a weather app on the Charge 5. I just received a Charge 5 as a birthday gift to replace an aging Samsung product. I really like it, but the one app that I miss is being able to see the local weather conditions at a glance.
We need a weather app on the Charge 5! It is quite disappointing to see that this basic functionality it missing from an otherwise great product.
Yeah. As soon as my free trial is up I'm cancelling and going back to Garmin. I miss weather, but also been completely sick and out for the count with a head cold for three days and Fitbits telling me I'm all charged up and ready for a good workout. I know my Garmin would have been telling me I'm on death's door. Not sure what's better.
